I miss the 5th season
it seems to be an unpopular opinion but I always liked season 6 the best cause of depression and aimlessness
Jessica Jones is really, really similar to Buffy in tone, albeit a bit darker. Protagonist has unparalleled levels of strength, but is still quite vulnerable and isn't necessarily strong all the time. Has smart, feminist side friend, as well as another friend who is basically Black Xander. David Tennant is the villain and is very similar to Spike in personality, especially because of the accent.
Orphan Black also has a very similar tone to Buffy, but I've only seen the first season so I can't vouch for the rest of the show.
I watched JJ but the pacing was absolute dogshit, it should have been like buffy with Case of the Week and Kilgrave as the overrarching villain but they just stretched a 2 hour movie to 13 episodes. Orphan Black also goes to shit in S2.
Me too.
I'm okay with people hailing Season 3 as the greatest because it really was the peak of the high school seasons and had all the best characters (technically counting Spike even though he's only in 1 episode). But season 6 was such a creative leap - the show had coasted on the whole "monsters as metaphors" for long enough, so it seemed like killing/resurrecting Buffy was a total jump-the-shark moment, but switching the villain from monsters to real life worked so well. Like, Buffy being ripped out of heaven to a world where she now has to pay bills and work minimum wage was such a classically dark, hilarious turn for the show to take. People will always make fun of the season for Willow being addicted to magic, though, since that was a tad bit silly.
Season 6 is very underrated, I used to hate it but after rewatching the entire series last year I was surprised to find I was loving it.
Also Warren is an amazing character and the best Buffy villain imo
Season 3 is my favorite because reasons
The 100? first 3 episodes is your standard young adult shit, but right at the end of episode 3 it turns into Fallout the series, and i'm talking about first 2 games.
not sure how much of it you've seen but season 3 of The 100 is fucking awful and makes me very reluctant to watch any more of the show
The Zeppo is probably in my top 5 episodes of Buffy, it hits all the right notes.
season 4 is much better, keep watching.
Season 6 was the best. Followed probably by 2 and 3.
People hated how dark it got, but honestly the show wouldn't be the same without it. It made the characters seem much more real. Plus, it gave us the incredibly destructive relationship that was Buffy and Spike.
can we all agree that season 7 is hot garbage though?
Buffy Season 6 was shit because Joss "Chad" Whedon was working on Firefly and a woman wrote it instead. That's why Season 6 is Twilight tier teen girl bullshit.
Wynonna Earp is the closest thing on air now to Buffy IMO
Try Constantine, though it ends prematurely
Closest non-Supernatural thing nowadays is Ash vs Evil dead.
It wasn't particularly good. I wouldn't really say it was particularly bad either, though, and I do think it served as a fitting end to the series however, thematically.
When I was young I used to read erotic fanfiction about this girl and Buffy
>I mean good not pleb shit like Supernatural
I entered this thread with joy and hope of having a good time then I find out OP has shit taste
The Zeppo is one of my favorites too. 5 years later and an episode of Justice League Unlimited ripped it off in a good way. It's called the The Greatest Story Never Told and has Booster Gold in the Xander role.
>that one story where Buffy forces Dawn to eat Spike's cum out of her asshole
I did not like the series finale that much, it had its moments but mostly felt off. Also the speech about "any girl who feels blah blah blah" with the potential slayers awakening was pure cringe
So it's not just Harry Potter, it's everything you don't like?
They spun their wheels a bit too much: I get how important it was that Spike take his time to get over being re-souled, and training up the potentials, but it just seemed to take forever to set things up for the final confrontation. The principal/Spike thing was lame too, it may have worked with an established character but I didn't care about the principal, and him being a red herring that they took every opportunity to remind you of makes it a bit tedious.
I loved the finale though, and I'm glad Angel season 5 continued Spike's story because I never would have watched it otherwise.
my rule of thumb is: no boreanaz, no watch whedonverse
based
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals for the drama/romance.
