Logan Anniversary

Logan came out a year ago, what's Sup Forums consensus about it? I think it was pretty good, could have been even better

Still just a piece of capeshit.

>this was a year ago
What the fuck
It's capeshit but not completely terrible like shit from the MCU or DCEU

7.7/10 movie that falls apart in the final act

the lead merc dude needed more screentime

I like how it showed American ruined because of Mexico.

I like the wall joke.

Good movie. Perfect example of serious capeshit done right, without going too much into the grimdark route

weak as fuck and a damn shame.

It never showed America "ruined", what the fuck are you talking about?

brought my ex to go see it as our first date. time flies when you're in a relationship with a crazy cunt, huh?

Went in with low expectations, not really a fan of the x movies (deadpool was dumb but fun when it wasn't being every origin story). I liked it, I agree with you OP that it could've been better, but it was a solid watch for what it was. it's the kind of capeshit there should be more of

hey same here! except it wasn't our first date. fucking crazy whore ruined me

god tier by capeshit standards. started to waffle and lose the thread at some points but still a nice swan song

cunny.

>white man needs to die so stronk daughter can be the new hero that's solves everything with mindless violence

It deserved that fucking Oscar. What a steal.

Will we see her again as Laura? Apparently Fox is developing 8 Xmen films, maybe the X-23 movie os one of them

It was his last outing, you go in wanting it to be good. Not only was it good, but a really risky and unique addition to the longest running superhero franchise, it's sins easily forgiven when compared to say X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Even Apocalypse sucked ass desu

Capekino

liked it better than the usual superhero movie, but not as much as most people did.
There's something about these movies that prevents me from caring beyond a certain point.

Based

What did they mean by this?

death of edgy le edgelord in the edgiest way possible.
proud contender for the entry in contemporary nihilism starter pack

Your post is dishonest.

this, if anything it was culturally enriched

>nihilism
it's literally about legacy and family. how much of a brainlet do you have to be to not get this movie

oh god... is everyone here a racist and or pedo nowadays?

They should have adopted the actual story.

>7.7
>.7
Fuck off with your decimal point

where the fuck do you think you are?

Yeah they only needed the entire MCU characters to start

Fuck no. I read this comic, it's dumb shit that actually tries to be edgy in a teenager kind of way.
Enemies that are the incest children from Hulk and his fucking sister. The movie Logan is 10 times better than Old Man Logan.

The actual comic sounds retarded.

>inbred Hulk gangsters

Why do people read this shit?

>it's dumb shit that actually tries to be edgy in a teenager kind of way.
>superheroes isn't already stupid enough.

one of the only good capeshits. i would call it capekino.

Apparently, Mark Millar isn't even a good writer. For stuff like that you need someone like Garth Ennis who is able to do edgy stuff without letting the reader thinking "Does this dude ever thought beyond the pure idea? Like, how the execution will going to look like or does he just wrote it down immediately after he got it?".

Old Man Logan is a bad bad try to make something like "Unforgiven" with the dumbest plot you can think of where every important Marvel character seems to live 2 km away from Logan.

not him but the movie has more themes about multiculturalism and female empowerment than it does what you mentioned, the scene where the le breaking stereotypes black family takes him in and da ebil country white men attack them was cringey as fuck

What did you expect from Mark "Booby-Trapped Womb" Millar?

kys

Be honest, it's much better than mcu or DCU. It's at least a step above it.

Some really good stuff, shitty 3rd act. Logan clone was a huge mistake, big bad guy was fucking dull and expo dump in the last 10 minutes was spectacularly fuckwitted. They had the kernel of amazing things:
-Xavier can't deal with his own guilt and dies without fully forgiving himself, he needs Logan to be saved for absolution.
-Logan is just too beaten down to care. He is in the position to save himself (he effectively turns down a doctor who could cure his cancer) and he just can't face going on so he runs.
The whole thing is let down by shitty antagonists.

>Logan clone was a huge mistake
why?

Yes, now go back to your r/safespace.

sad boy porn.
its capeshit taken way too seriously so when soyboys cry during it they can say 'SEE?! Super heros are art tooo!!!"
Logan stinks.

For once a Marvel try some new shit instead of the usual cgi fest, I do think this was a fucking good movie, and you guys just have terrible taste

Fuck off ReviewScrew.

Sup Forums loved it, they are being contrarians now because so did everyone else.

Logan constantly falling asleep in the third act was jarring and made me tired, otherwise pretty good

It was really fucking *epic* how they shit all over the X-Men by literally killing them off screen. Oh yes, twas an excellent addition to the history of cinema.

This was a movie about Logan. Fuck the X-Men, they're literally of no importance to the story this movie wanted to tell and only served as background and worldbuilding.

A bunch of reasons:
It doesn't work thematically: Logan's big enemy isn't "himself" or even the "dark side of himself", it is despair.
It doesn't work aesthetically: digital youth-ifying still looks kinda shitty and particularly at this budget.
It's played out as fuck: nega-anti-dark-shadow versions are a tired trope that very rarely has made decent contribution to a film. I can think of one (Army of Darkness) that I enjoyed and that was because it was parody. Jungian "shadows" work as wisps and distractions, not as villains.
It is kind of movie breaking: you know what can kill a pseudo-immortal berserker mutant in his prime? A bullet to the head. This of course would never happen to Logan. No one would ever shoot him with an adamantium bullet say when he was escaping Stryker's lab.
It confuses a already confused opposing force: Pierce is the bad guy, no wait rice, no wait bad wolverine is the bad guy, no, wait he's just a goon, Pierce is the bad guy, I mean Rice he did loads of bad things, wait he's dead, I think evil Logan is the bad guy.

9/10. I cried and saw it twice.

The movie was better. Creating alternate realities would take away from its realism.

>Logan's big enemy isn't "himself" or even the "dark side of himself", it is despair.
If you say so.

What's confusing about any of this? Rice was the main villain/mastermind, Pierce was his right-hand man and Logan's clone was their goon.

What did Sup Forums think of the Wolverine flick before this one?

>Logan's big enemy isn't himself
>it's despair

nigga what, that is himself.

It might have been that it wasn't their first choice. It could be that Lieve Schreiber wasn't available or interested and that was the best route available to them. If so then I'd say they did a good job, but if that was their original idea then I'm disappointed.

>It doesn't work thematically: Logan's big enemy isn't "himself" or even the "dark side of himself", it is despair.
cant it be both?

it's meh. just a generic action flick. as good or slightly better than any given mcu movie. you can tell mangold really wanted his western and the only way he finally got it was because huge jackedman told the studio it was a good idea

Incredibly strong movie in the beginning, but got weaker and a bit weird when they added in extra characters. Entire scene with black family could have been redone. Too many mutant kids.

Beginning was good, it fell apart after that especially at the end when it just turned into superhero kiddies save the day like childrens capeshit movie

I loved the scene with the black family.

>Superhero kiddies save the day
But this never happened

youtube.com/watch?v=7IPY28pKBUk

I hope so. You’d think her career as an actress would have taken off by now after her performance in Logan

So Donald just died on his own and the kids didn't kill him?

Pretty much, the action scenes with the mutant kids felt out of place.

as far as babysitter movies go, mrs doubtfire was better in every aspect

>Garth Ennis who is able to do edgy stuff
>able
HORSECOCK

Both of the sad scenes weren't impactful, but also the villain being just a slightly better wolverine, come on ffs so shit, just the same plot as origins. Was quite disappointed in this compared to my expectations going in

>isn't despair the same as himself?
No, exhaustion and fear are not the same as "what if I am an evil force?" it's almost the opposite, one is the fear you might be too powerful and one is the resignation to powerlessness in the face of time.

It's not hard to understand the organisation of team bad guy, it just dilutes the threat and distracts the audience. Stryker works incredibly well as a villain because all of wolverines hate is focused on him alone. This mess doesn't give us anyone to really invest in opposing.

A bit overwrought and predictable but overall pretty OK. Capeshit is capeshit.
unless it's Snyderkino

I can safely say that Logan is the worst and most pointless film I have ever witnessed. It is a pathetic "slasher" flick that panders to our lowest and most voyeuristic, rubberneck instincts. It attempts to seduce the weakest, sickest, and most gladiatorial part of human nature. The part that yearns to view blood and gore when we drive by a car crash.

What's worse is that Logan brutally wastes some of the most extraordinary talents in the entertainment industry. Patrick Stewart, one of the most brilliant Shakespearean actors of our time, and Hugh Jackman one of the finest film and Broadway talents ever, have been paid lavishly to compromise their talents egregiously. The real tragedy of this film is to witness these two brilliant, and gifted actors sell their souls to the Hollywood cesspool, or is it Deadpool? The same pool that once spawned some powerful, ethical, inspirational, and entertaining CGI Marvel heroes. That pool has stagnated, and it starting to get putrid.

One decapitation and impaling after another, it also drags children into the psychotic slashing mayhem. As if it's not bad enough that adults could conceivably behave in such a way, to create heroic images of demonic bloodthirsty innocents is unconscionable.

The only comfort arising from this tasteless and gratuitous dung heap of mizzled gore is that Charles and Logan are finally shanked beyond repair. No more Wolverine, or Professor Charles Xavier. Thank God! My fear is that Marvel is simply making way for another generation of young actors to be proselytized for the sake of even more gruesome, sick, twisted and bloodthirsty voyeurism.

If I could get a refund for my ticket, and the popcorn, I would. Calling Logan a lame and insulting piece of crap would be too generous.

So much fucking better than capeshit like Wonder Woman and Black Panther but people don't rave about it half as much because it's not part of the progressive agenda. A couple of years ago it would have been different

Wow I think this was around the time I started watching this board. I remember coming here to see the reaction for this movie (not sure why). So much wasted time... only got baneposting as a reward.

both the best scene in the movie and cavill's best acting to date. dude is definitely naturally better at playing a villain

At the end of the day Logan is dead, Charles is dead, the kids are on their own with unknown destinaron, i wouldn't consider that "saving the day"

Logan transcended caeshit

haven't seen it yet

How well will he do in the new MI movie?

>tfw no caring gf who just wants to make me feel good
Always the psycho bitches

>tfw no psycho gf who just wants to make me feel good

ree

>loads of unfocused bad guys
I thought that was kind of the point - in reality there's no clear evil force that can be overcome with a fight, there's a lot of evil in the world that you can just hold back enough to make a name for yourself

You could make the same argument about greed or any other vice, you absolute mong. What the fuck. His despair and alcoholism and being a fucking trainwreck was always a part of him.

I like that they found a girl that actually looks feral and menacing

THE FUTURE IS ABOUT TO BE RESET BECAUSE CABLE IS COMING TO DEADPOOL. CABLE IS FROM THE FUTURE, SO HIM COMING BACK CHANGES THE FUTURE. HENCE THE LOGAN TIMELINE IS ERASED

YOU STUPID FUCKS EAT A BAG OF DICKS

Ummmmmm, The town in the atmosphere when it showed America wasn't terrible?

No It wasn't, It seemed completely fine

dont listen to the faggots, based comic book

>nowadays

It was alright shame it falls apart with the introduction of the other kids. Logan and X23s last scene together was pretty good though.

In my Top 3 Superhero movies.

She wasn't crazy, but I took the girl I loved to see it, and now that relationship is completely non-existent.

Time really dies fly.
