What are your favorite Best Picture winners

I like the following:
Wings
Broadway Melody
Cavalcade
Gone With The Wind
Hamlet
The Greatest Show on Earth
West Side Story
Tom Jones
My Fair Lady
The Sound of Music
Terms of Endearment
Birdman

My single favorite is Unforgiven.

Birdman is great.
Fuck this board.

The Apartment is my favorite

Rebecca and BIrdman are really good too. I liked Shape of Water

Cavalcade is great.
Fuck this board.

It's definitely better than this board gives it credit for being. Keaton and Norton were both great in it.

>Keaton went on to star in capeshit again
The irony is that by using and commenting on the past, Inarritu predicted the future just a few years later. This is the type of irony that Kubrick wanted but could never achieve. TRUE offscreen irony. True reality piercing essence.

My man.

Wings is very good.

That's right, big boy.

The movie was done in two shots while having a compelling story.

Solid eight in my book.

Birdman isn't a ride, it's equillibrium.

Russian Ark is one place. Contrived and obvious in intention and execution. Birdman soars and towers, yet maintains the equilibrium of presentation. High and lows matters not. Same focal length, same lens.

The Best Years of Our Lives
Marty
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Apartment
The Godfather
The Godfather II (tough break for Chinatown there)
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Rocky
The Deer Hunter
The Silence of the Lambs
Unforgiven (but shit year for nominees let's be honest)

79, 94, 05 stand out as years where they got it more wrong than usual

>Forrest Gump
Cavalcade for dummies.

It was also the first time I took Stone seriously. Her weed-fueled monologue was great

>Stone
SEXY!

To be true to life, you must exceed good taste. Cinephiles crave literature, cinephiles crave music, cinephiles crave visual entertainment. Where high art necessarily incorporates beauty and value, camp necessarily needs to be lively, audacious and dynamic. Camp aesthetics delights in impertinence. Camp opposes satisfaction and seeks to challenge. To divorce from immediate reality and metaphysically imprint, to pierce reality with reality and assess fully.

Easy A is Emma Stone unhinged. Hellish camp.

Of my 10/10s I'd say All About Eve is mah fayvrit, but damn, I can't say the Academy didn't get it right a good bit of the time back in the day.

The Depahted

Why are you comparing the two? But I love Matthau, so thanks for the rec. Snatching...

I.A.L. Diamond co-wrote both.

Gene Saks > Jewwy Wilder

Cause I know everyone was wondering what the last 8 were. :/

>Titanic

Based Get Out poster

any good movies

I admittedly haven't seen it in well over ten years, and only once, but I had such a mediocre viewing experience that even though I might appreciate it more and maybe change my rating upon rewatching, there are many, many, many, many more movies I'd rather watch than fucking Titanic again.
