Might be good, might look good but actually be shit. Verdict will wait until I've actually played it.

How could they let something like this slip by?

They're going to pan this game for being too hard and call it dark souls, aren't they

this game look way too hard

Modern gaming journalism is trash

Wish I could but I don't have a next gen

youtu.be/awxYu3yaCy0

It's coming for PC also

My only interest is in what waifus it offers besides the mermaid

this is what everyone was talking about with the reviewer saying the tutorial was too hard
I thought people were exaggerating but holy hell, that's pretty bad

My man. Waiting on the porn of her

Holy fucking shit. I haven't played a video game in over four years and this unabashed idiocy still fills me with hate.
I think it's cool and would buy it if I had a console that it's on, but releases that I'm interested in are far and few enough in-between that it's not worth $500 for something that I'll only want three games for. I also don't have a computer that is able to play it.

By the way, this is probably the cartoon that much of the game is based on: youtube.com/watch?v=VNttqN1wUMY

YOURE SUPPOSED TO JUMP FROM THE SQUARE

Nobody in the game will be waifuable

You can't be this naive.

They're already doing that, I've already seen articles calling Cuphead the Dark Sould of platformers

if you read the video description, it was uploaded as a joke

That's just a "I was only pretending to be retarded" excuse.

"Unfortunately, the video in isolation on YouTube lacked the full context. It didn't explain that we were posting this as a joke. A shitlord on Twitter also linked to this video and claimed these are the same people doing reviews. People came to the conclusion that this video was somehow part of a review, and the clip and this description did not provide the proper context to correct those assumptions. That is our fault. "

Sigh...I would if I had an X-Box One.

Now where's that troll who was shitting on this game's aesthetic last Cuphead thread we had, saying it looked cheap and inauthentic?

from their article

>Updated at 10:00 a.m. on September 5: This story claimed that Cuphead developers originally developed Super Meat Boy. That is not correct, and GamesBeat apologizes for the error.

So that was also part of the joke too right?

i hope it starts a trend. all i ever wanted growing up were video games that looked like the cartoony box art.

if you're looking for other animated gaming options - check out the Wonder Boy remake too. It's perfect.

>it was just a prank brah

What is this low hanging attempt at gaslighting? The person who created the footage came out and admitted he was attempting to play the game for real.

They're using very specific language to get around the truth. The person who was playing was legitimately trying, but his friends who recorded it did upload it in some sense to playfylly mock him. They are so out of touch with their readerbase they either didn't know why it would bother people, or it was cynical clickbait. Either way, they're trying to shift the conversation to be about "people getting mad about a joke video" rather than the fact that this journalist who has been working in the industry for decades has no idea about very basic mechanics.

Nah, all the attempts at animation-focused action platformers are inevitably shitty games because there's always way too much shit going on, way too many lag frames on everything, bosses focused on spectacle instead of mechanics, wonky collision and everything else that makes platformers frustrating. When you have a twitch-paced arcade-style action game then you have to prioritize mechanics over aesthetics.

Not to mention, I know that animation takes a lot of work, but this reeks to the bone of "development hell."

Will buy it if they make this angel a playable skin.

I love old timey cartoons and I was hyped for this when it was first announced. But it's been so long In almost forgot about it. I'll probably get it anyways, though

>shitlord

I will buy it just for the purpose of supporting people actually putting effort into things. H

I have that game. I think the art style kicks ass but I got very, very frustrated with some of the outdated gameplay and the hitboxes

>the original trailer was 3 years ago
Jesus christ
Also the OST came out youtube.com/watch?v=0BYMowLvaeM

Uploaded as a joke, not played as a joke.

don't tell me this is gonna be like undertale will have a toxic fanbase and everybody will hate it even if its good.

>hahaha isnt this funny what a good goof see how terrible we are at games hahaha
youtu.be/d3pQ0oO_cDE

It doesn't have furries or 'deep lore', so I doubt it

I really don't see the appeal of Undertale. But I suspect this is a problem with me considering everybody else on the internet says I'm wrong.

Been looking forward to it for years, so yes.

Closer to Bendy and the Ink Machine, probably: a few weirdos, a good deal of fujoshits, but overall nothing intolerable.

Bendy is actually bad tho.

Put effort into the right things and I'll buy it. I play games to have fun, not because I believe in the labor theory of value.

Not quite what I meant.

Soundtrack when ?

No, this is a game, not some pseudo-friendship simulator.

>PC
And there's the rub.

Eh?

what joke. if the tutorial had been overly handhold-y, or had been wildly inadequate, the potential for a joke that made sense would have existed, but the instructions were completely straightforward and direct. there was no joke to be made by pretending to be retarded, and there was no missing mitigating context. Dean Takahashi is as bad at backpedaling into excuses as he is at understanding how to play video games.

Dean Takahashi also gave Mass Effect a terrible score until someone told him it was an RPG and you could put points into skills. He didn't do that at all the first time he played the ENTIRE GAME.

I'm kinda amazed at how long it's taken them to put out what are essentially 10 minute walking simulators.

I will never understand why people are being so harsh on him
I mean we all do boneheaded shit like this in games time from time

>fujoshits
I know what this is, but why is everyone on Sup Forums suddenly spouting it all the time now?
I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it pop up at all here until some months ago

Not everyone has a PC.

That's not really fair to say, Dean was simply just roleplaying as a Shepard who didn't know how the fuck to play video games

Read the bread

Oh, right.

If I remember right Microsoft gave some money to help make this, so ports to other consoles aren't looking good, sadly.

It looks cool, but my hype for it dropped pretty hard when I learned there wouldn't be online co-op. You don't have to homage everything from the past.

Not THAT boneheaded.

And not for that long.

I'll pirate it, and if I like it, I'll buy it and re play it.

I want a cuphead cartoon now

>outdated gameplay
>implying that's a thing
kys

what is this game about ?

You have a cup for a head, so you shoot stuff in nice cartoon style

...

Two cup headed brothers lose a bet with satan and now have to do his bidding and take contracts from the bosses

Cuphead and his pal Mugman lost a dice roll to Satan.

So now they can either burn in Hell or obey Satan's orders and go beat up a bunch of people who may or may not have it coming to them.

Sweet. I definitely plan on getting it, then. Though I'd be happier if it came to Switch.

>He doesn't know about Turbo, Loki and TheOncelerwhichweallwishtoforgetforthenameandsakeofDrSeuss
Oh, sweet summer child...

God bless whoever made this.

Nah. Undertale was connected to the Homestuck community and inherited its shit fanbase. Cuphead will just be one more flash in the pan.

>Oh sweet summer child..
Shut up you retard, 'fujoshits' wasn't a term used even then, and only showed up recently

what's reddit doing here?

...

amazing

>Discovered Fleischer doing research for my speech last week
>Saw how he was done dirty
>Watch some of the cartoons
>That fucking dancing walrus
Man, I might be like 90 years late but I feel bad for the dude

The new Voltron spurred on a lot of them

Skyrim springs to mind, actually

The artstyle makes me fucking hard.

It's been surpassed by other open world games in the sense that those games allow for greater freedom of exploration (GTAV and Breath of the Wild come to mind), but calling it outdated is about as silly as saying the original theatrical cuts of the Star Wars trilogy are outdated in light of the Special Editions.

Oh wow!

posting from a phone?

I wanna fuck the cupheads

Any animation that isn't calart i'll give a chance

Skyrim's been long surpassed by its own damn predecessors, if anything. Your point still stands though.

Overlooking obvious solution to a puzzle that is literally hanging above the doorway is something everyone does.
Being too retarded to jump on platforms is something only for select old people who haven't allowed their brain to have new input for 20 years.

get out underage

If I remember, the design for cuphead was inspired by this 1936 pro japanese animation where evil mickey mouses attack japan, it's as weird as it sounds. I skipped to where cuphead appears.
youtube.com/watch?v=icVu-acHlpU&feature=youtu.be&t=5m13s

>The evil mickeys literally inexplicably inflate

Because he's acting righteous abut his incompetence. He thinks he found a flaw in the tutorial when he really only gave a great example of Dunning-Kruger.

Put sound on it and put it on youtube and you got a new meme

I've already preordered it.

Eh, it's fine for $5.99 I suppose. I'll admit, even though I don't like the game that much, I really like Bendy's design.

Tank controls should not exist in 2017

I don't care if you suck at video games, but if your job in the games industry or tech industry is a professionally paying one maybe you should understand them more than a random 5 year old can in seconds.
