Give us your idea, and we'll tell you why it's bad. That way, you'll at least get some constructive criticism out of it.

What's your idea?

Out with it

Why did you even make this thread if you're not going to say what your idea was?

Were they laughing in a derisive way?

Maybe your idea is just funny

My idea went like this.

A teacher at a highly-prestigious private school loses his job over a silly technicality. ("Upon further review of your credentials, we discovered that you did not properly cite your sources for your senior thesis 'Soylent Green: The Solution to World Hunger?'"). In desperation, he takes up a series of odd jobs but discovers he is terrible at any job that isn't teaching. He signs up for an English teaching program in Japan, believing he will teach at an affluent school. He is shocked to discover upon arrival that he will be teaching at a small school in the countryside. The show would center around his interactions with his students, the Japanese people of the town, and a handful of Western teachers who were also conned into accepting this job.

Isn't that the premise minus the reason for why he is there for that other webcomic?

But sure, that's not too bad I think, don't see the specific aim for teens though

>generic anime plot #117
it's not awful or embarassing I just don't see anything interesting about it

How about an anime dedicated to suicides in Japan and how to prevent them?

In before nips consider it a weakness to acknowledge the problem instead of fixing it.

you forgot the waifu and different dimensions

Why does it need to take place in Japan? Japan's already making enough media that takes place there.

Because it makes more sense for the anime to take place in Japan or Asia in general. Many young teens commit suicide due to social pressures of school or trying to get the best job for themselves. Japan needs to wake up and help themselves by showing dark subject matter. Japan is a first world country but suicide is prevalent. The US in comparison is much more chill.

>Because it makes more sense for the anime to take place in Japan or Asia in general
>or Asia in general
There you go. Go to South Korea or Vietnam or something. is right, so much media takes place in Japan already.

>The US in comparison is much more chill.
You serious? The only reason we don't hear more about our suicides and suicidal people is the extreme stigma surrounding it.

I don't know man. I prefer Jap animation because they totally dominate the industry. I haven't seen much anime from South Korea. Can you give me some examples of good South Korean animation?

Why is there a stigma about suicide in the US?

You could write a story about depressed people from Guyana, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka or Greenland, and discuss the local societal issues that people in those countries struggle with. Try to find a totally new angle and do something new and different; something that hasn't been done before.
If you choose Japan as your setting, you're just gonna walk a path that's been walked a thousand times before, and by tons of people with much more talent than you. Your audience will make inevitable comparisons to various anime conventions and series. With them as a comparison point, you will look like an unoriginal imitator weeaboo.

I'm not really a writer, I like to discuss issues about other countries cause I'm a filthy American :P.

I'm not really that good in debates either, I just like highlighting issues in first world countries since supposedly they're so advanced but still have problems that can be solved in other ways.

Why does it have to be an anime? Are you Japanese? I'm not sure you can technically make anime if you aren't Japanese.

/thread

Because suicide is prevalent in Japan and other Asian countries.

Also, I'm not an animater nor a writer. I just like giving opinions.

What really grinds my gears is that Japan is a first world country but suicide is prevalent. Same is also true for South Korea.

>Gaijin Smash and Let's Speak English: The Animated Series
Not the worst idea though.

too convoluted
you could skip the he tries a lot of jobs thing and just have him go from teaching at college to teaching in japan
and when someone asks him why he decided to go to japan he answers im a college proffesor, im not capacitated to do anything

Sup Forums is not your facetwit feed, we dont care about your feelings or what you ate for lunch today (unless its /ck/ they love talking about food)

I'm not getting the correlation. Your description didn't mention depression or suicide.

it's not a bad premise, but you make it sound like some kind of anime when you are supposed to be writting a cartoon for western teenagers. And the plot doesn't really seem to go anywhere, like, are you aiming for a mundane slice of life like King of the hill? Or does the plot start getting more and more intense as the story goes? Like he falls in love with one of his students?

So is this a cartoon ideas thread?

>Your description didn't mention depression or suicide.
>How about an anime dedicated to suicides in Japan and how to prevent them?
user is not OP. He is posting his own idea separate from the generic teacher one.

>Like he falls in love with one of his students?
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the student's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the student, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the teachr’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

You forgot the part where the teacher is your fursona, and the cast is made entirely of your anime pillows, and the bizarre diaper fetish habits of the townspeople.

It so easily could have been but OP fucked it up. Quick, somebody make an actual cartoon ideas thread.

That's not really laughable, but it's still pretty lame.

OK

Well its not good per se, but isn't a laughing matter either

Stop caring so much about what other people think of you.
Maybe your idea sounded shitty but if executed correctly it could be amazing.
Maybe you have a different creative perspective from the rest of your class.
Maybe your public shouldn't be young teens.
Don't let a bunch of idiots discourage you.

>it could be amazing.

I wouldn't go that far

Some people have had one great idea on their first try. More luck than skill, if you ask me, but it's a possibility.

They're also depending on him to save the school.
