I wonder how TV Tropes would feel about the ending of TMNT (2012)
Tvtropes isn't one single person
It's a thing that I used to do where I would say I was scared by something like that one scene in Empire Strikes Back where Luke ventures into that cave on Yoda-planet and fights Darth Vader before the mask breaks off and reveals the face of Luke. I'm not "scared" by that scene truthfully. It's unnerving or unsettling
Uh, but Sup Forums is, obviously. What are you, stupid?
>It's a "somebody writes how a character is a Time Lord on the WMG section" episode
>troper tales
>Its a "Pervert with an overactive imagination posts every other line in the show on "Getting Crap Past the Radar" episode
Today, I shall remind them.
>tvtropes.org
>Even though he's on your side, the Tangle Kelp is a mass of kelp that inexplicably has red eyes. But the scariest thing about him is what he does: he pulls a zombie underwater and they never show up again.
>never show up again
Did they expect random enemies you kill to show up later...?
>There's an argument on a show's main page
>One or both sides is clearly retarded
>This troper

Thoughts on this trope?
I miss TroperTales. They were the perfect cringe fix. Sometimes absolutely ghastly.
Let's do this.

I wish they hadn't gotten rid of Troper Tales.
That was always good for laughs.
I miss the first year or so of that site before it became a parody of itself.
The miss Jump the Shark more though.
>"Playing with" page
>most of the trope variations are things no series has ever or would ever do
Yeah, shit's just unnerving but people are hyperbolic as fuck
>Celibate Hero
This is absolute gold
The "if you ever do anything to hurt her" troper tales page was also gold
>It's a "some psuedo-intellectual fagtron uses the term 'trope' unironically while arguing for their shitty opinions on Sup Forums" episode
You are like a child. Watch this.
tvtropes.org
Are tropers what happens when you don't spank your kids?
Well it's "Your milleage may vary" for a reason, but yeah sometimes it can get ridiculous
Are you what happens when parents keep dropping their babies on their heads?
>archive
why?
They purged the "Troper Tales" section years ago because they didn't want to keep hosting people's fanfiction about themselves being white knights or incestuous pedophiles
It's what happens when Sup Forums decide to troll one another and pretend it's entirely one person writing the articles.
Badass Longcoat and Celibate Hero are making me shrivel up inside.
Is it accurate to call TVTropes a proto-tumblr?
Too neckbeard-y. More proto-Reddit
>IncestIsRelative
what the actual FUCK
STAR I LOVE YOU
I mean, at least TVTropes is good when they're actually focusing on the fucking tropes that are incorporated into the piece of fiction and characters within.
The rest is shit though
>This Troper goes to school every day in his black leather trench coat with his bag slung tastefully over his shoulder. He also has the right movement patterns to make it move just right.
holy fuck
this
>My friend owns an ankle-long black coat, steel-tipped boots and glasses, that darken in the sun. Despite her shot, fragile figure she managed to give me a heart attack, when she was waiting for me in the half-light, windy evening...
Is it wrong to get a boner from this?
Not at all; I'd fuck the brains out of that school shooter wanna be.
>it's Sup Forums throws rocks whilst standing next to their glass house episode
t. troper whose contributions are being mocked
Wew. I want to hug evil Futaba.
>tfw I'm 19 and read TV tropes, especially nightmare fuel and Under the radar
>tfw I found out my dad occasionally browses the site
how do I kill mysekf, I need fun things to do in my life again
duct tape, helium, mask
cheap, fast, painless
>its "I am going to remove other characters' tags for the sake of my husbandos and waifus" episodes
>its "I am going to provide extensive (and inaccurate) information for my favorite characters because and only because I think they are superior to other characters" episode
seriously though, editing pages for your favorite characters are fine, but including information that is not accurate just for your inflated ego is pretty dumb and pathetic to be quite honest.
I looked it up and now I don't know if I want to laugh or cry
This set still baffles me.
I don't remember tv tropes ever being this bad. What the fuck happened.
see
Any examples?
>tfw reading adventure time on TV tropes
>nothing but extensive essays and theories about lemongrab, the lemons, and lemonhope
>tfw I found the lemons kinda lame and annoying
why do they love the lemons so much??? Is it because they think he's autistic and identify with him?
It's because they're all evil inside and every villain is lemons.
Are you saying troper tails brought cancer to the rest of the site?
No but it can be said that way as the community has similar views and writing style
unlike here where calling Sup Forums a hivemind is done in a "why don't you like this show now Sup Forums?? it doesn't make sense, you did yesterday!" which is pure retardation
No. I'm saying the site was always awful and you only noticed now
or the discussions can be creepy at times. Here are some I can think of.
> This Troper's personality combines a genuine, old-fashioned innocence with a strong sense of morality and an unwavering personal honor. This sounds wonderful until we reach theF next paragraph. Then one notices that This Troper also possesses an extensive knowledge of the world and an instinct for creative cruelty, at which point the entire thing becomes more than a little disturbing. Years were spent learning to control these emotions properly, and God help you if you really wind up on the wrong end of them. There will be blood.
why
Funny use of Star Vs as a reaction pic, speaks miles about your mindset, same for the filename.
>This troper is a similar case. He likes girls, but isn't much interested in a relationship - on the bright side, because being single never affected him; on the nerdy side, to focus on his studies; and on the negative side, because he has some social innaptitude and self-esteem problems (due to bullying, meeting worthless girls that made him subvert Wouldn't Hit A Girl, among other traumas)
Holy lol, an autist snapping and punching a girl is referred to as not following a trope?
Only reason I come to this board
It's amazing how PB and Marcy are the forefront here and the main duo with the brotherly dynamic is under "Other"
Stay gone then, I'm sure you'll find the exact same discussion you seek on Tumblr, not even using it as a buzzword meme, it's the centerfest of all Star threads' main aspects in those tags.
Okay buddy
I'll go back to enjoying things I like and not trying to psychoanalyze anonymous people who post a picture of a cartoon I don't like
The fanfiction recommendation is pure unfiltered autism, you can tell because the really autistic shit like mlp fanfiction recommendation is split into multiple different pages by category
You know the worst part? All these creepy autists who splerged out in HS are now out there in the adult world. Don't believe me? Just look at reddit, especially the relationship advice boards.
But with the volume of fanfiction for mlp categories makes sense.
>This troper really feels sorry for that chick in study skills class. I am asexual, but otherwise straight, but she's an exception for me. (Not the "sexual" part of course, I'm just an innocent middle-schooler.) But she's beautiful, and talented, and has a great personality. I wouldn't really call myself a "stalker" much, but I do tend to follow her around sometimes. Of course, lucky for her, cameras aren't allowed at school, LOL. ;)
Jesus
>horse fanfiction recommendations page
>pure unfiltered autism
I don't know what you were expecting
There's a whole site for it. If they had it on one page it'd take forever to load.
read this one fimfiction.net
Only the "good 10%" is allowed to be included in the fanfiction recommendation
>I am asexual, but otherwise straight, but she's an exception for me. (Not the "sexual" part of course, I'm just an innocent middle-schooler.)
Tumblr was a fucking mistake
The biggest MLP fanfiction site has 373401 fics. That's not even including fanfiction.net.
>Only the "good 10%" is allowed
On the basis of the opinions of people who think that 10% of fanfiction is good.
You could argue that even trying to make a list of the best of fanfiction if more autistic than a site that will accept any trash
I think the best mlp fanfic is a feelsfic with a terrible premise.
fimfiction.net
As I recall that was literally one actually autistic guy who related super hard to Lemongrab and when Lemongrab turned into a villain and shit the troper had a huge meltdown and got pissed at Lemongrab himself, the other characters in the show, and the writers and show at large. I don;t know if he''s still around being autistic, this is from a couple years ago.
It's always annoying looking through tropes and seeing an Adventure Time one and it's just some of his leftover projecting bullshit that barely relates to Lemongrab in the first place.
too bad you fell off your high horse in the first post where you cherrypicked for your point, cunt sucker
I haven't really seen every episode but wasn't he always a villan?
At first he was just kind of an annoying weird guy who was too ineffective to really be a threat, but then he ate his brother and started ruling his citizens as slaves and shit and that's when he turned into a legitimate villain.
>cherrypicked
Holy shit my dude you are extremely upset about someone criticizing the term "trope"
Have you maybe contributed to some of the embarrassments posted in this thread?
Be nice to star, do not bully her
>web.archive.org
No paragrph I wrote about wanting to fuck my male cousin.
TV Tropes is homerphobic!
The worst part of that site has to be the annoying names for the tropes and how pretentiously written everything is. If I heard someone say any of the shit there out loud it'd kill me.
Every time some jackass drops a "trope name" off site, expecting everyone to immediately understand what it means and acting as if just stating it was a well-reasoned argument in itself, I die a little inside
That picture isn't "smug", also I'm referring to how you dug into it saying OP was trying to defend Sup Forums's opinions when he was just posting
>tvtropes is full of kids who are scared at the most mundane shit and really go into detail
Sure, it isn't really a discussion topic, but that doesn't change the fact you grasping at straws then twisting it on anyone replying to your dumbass
>smug star.jpg
I haven't been involved in this but your filenames are really not helping you out here bro
Fuck off Lenny. You're a horrible shitposter
Maybe if she wasn't obnoxious by design and didn't speak "parrr tayyy" tier half the time she wouldn't be a piece of shit character
>you dug into it saying OP was trying to defend Sup Forums's opinions
My post wasn't directed at OP at all
It was a simple statement that people who think using a term like "trope" gives them credibility are embarrassments
>you grasping at straws
Keep throwing buzzwords with no relation to what's actually being argued at me user, maybe one will stick
>its a Sup Forums is afraid of le tumblr and le reddit boogeymen episode
Grow up.
Nice, user
>there people who say trope names in actual conversation
>i have met them
Star tries her hardest, stop bullying her
>People who refer to any series that isn't a completely straightforward cliché storm as a "deconstruction"
Are you a woman by any chance? ignoring the avatarposting
He's not avatarfagging
>posting Sup Forums-related reaction images on Sup Forums is avatarfagging
It's not my fault my Star folder is five times larger than my general reaction image folder
>Are you a woman by any chance?
Wow, how misogynistic
Avatarfagging is against the rules fag
half of tvtropes is this
How is making fun of them being scared of them? You are one thin skinned cross boarder.
Yes he is
