Great Movie

Beautiful cinematography, terrifying imagery, haunting soundtrack...3 people in the theatre.

Normies can't handle Kino.

Looks like some Predator rip off. Fucking direct to the Netflix dumping grounds.

When I went to see it two rows were full. I heard at least three "whats" from the audience when the credits rolled. I felt like the set design was too focused on being pretty to feel scary.

Beautiful cinematography
Interesting designs
Shit special effects
Shit actresses
Shit skrillex music
Shit script

It had some cool moments but it was mostly shit. Let's be honest.

And maybe more than 3 people wouldve been in the theater if the lead actress wasn't a boring potato

Didn't know there was a new trailer for The Last of Us Part The Second.

>nobody has seen this movie
>I think it was pretty good
>let me start a thread about it without giving the title

>Beautiful cinematography
NO

It's interesting you mention that because there are some serious The Last Of Us vibes going on in the soundtrack.

everyones waiting for netflix dumb dumb

Probably because word of mouth about the shit ending got around

>tfw lighthouse scene

This.

Same thing happens with all hard sci-fi. Anything this thought-provoking and open-ended always gets shafted by the general public because it doesn't spoonfeed the plot to the audience. Same thing happened last year with A Cure for Wellness and BR 2049. The average film goer is a simpleton.

Stop shilling this shit

I will not watch a film where the diverse main character is white washed.

Also the effects werent shot or executed well and were mostly played just to look cool and didn't have any extra context for added weight

The best example was the shimmer itself
>look how pretty it is it looks like an oil slick look at the the pretty rainbow colors
Or
>look at all these pretty colored flowers
>look at these pretty crystal trees
>look at this pretty floating DNA orb

The visuals were weightless. I didn't feel anything or take anything away from them. They were just there and I was looking at them. That's it.

A film this visually diverse on paper shouldve popped on screen but it didn't. It desperately needed a better director or cinematographer. Or better special effects in general

>my face the bear scene was the only good part

This. What’s the movie you dumb fuck.

Roadside Picnic

The movie sounds interesting and looks nice... but I can't stand Portman anymore.

At least Blade Runner will have a strong cult following and it even just won an Oscar. Annihilation has basically already been forgotten. Totally half baked sci-fi concepts. They weren't even that out there as far as sci-fi goes, I think it was just an ineffective film

ACFW was shit though, mate. I agree with you on BR2049 but let's not be ridiculous.

A Wrinkle in Time

Ass

>crudely shoehorned interracial cuck porn

It's Annihilation. Do you live under a rock or something?

Ghostbusters (2016)

I really liked the book and heard in every country except the US and China it went straight to Netflix.

When’s it get released on US Netflix?

its all I think about too brother. LEts watched blacked together

I don't put much merit in 2049's Oscar win because didn't one of those godawful Transformers movies win the same award? If How I Fucked a Fishman can win the Oscar for best picture then 2049 at least deserved to be nominated. I just don't understand how the film could get so little respect from the academy.

Fuck off, that was the most drab, sour shit of a film I've seen in years. Even the cinematography looks like someone layered a shitty window tint over the fucking lens.

ACFW isn't a masterpiece by an y means but I think calling it shit is going a bit far.

post khazar milkers

Dane DeHaan makes any movie automatically shit.

I went to see it and the theater was pretty fucking packed. I'd say every seat had an ass in it except for 10.

I heard a few "what the fuck"s when the credits rolled, but nobody left early and no one was on their phone.

Someone I watched it with made a few comments about how the book was "better", but what the fuck can you expect?

>didn't one of those transformers movies win that award
No

And I don't like the Oscars or put much weight in their awards either but the Cinematography category is the best one every year. Whichever film wins best Cinematography is basically Best Picture in my book. Photography is pretty much the only reason I watch films anymore

That's fair.

My theater was packed too and nobody said a fucking word. Dead silence from beginning to end. You could hear a mouse jerking off. Dead silence only means a film is bad or really really good.

So how does this shitshow end?

The fuck is supposed to have happened in OP's pic?

He ate at Chipotle.

I thought this movie was absolute fucking garbage. It's either a really really dissapointing sci fi movie that doesnt capitalize at all on the world it builds or its a really really shittily executed metaphor about "humans self annihilation". So its either half a sci fi movie or its a really really slow and pretentious story about a woman who feels guilty about getting blacked and starts anew with her husband. Either way it sucks and I'm glad its bombing.

Ah so.

Did his skeleton become admiral problematic?

.45 acp

The movie was okay. Arrival was much better.

I enjoyed it. I thought the second half was a little bit better than the first half.

It was weak in some parts but pretty thought-provoking. I think that's why everyone was so quiet.

>Shit skrillex music

Take it baaaaaaack

>cellular ANNIHILATION!

I cracked up when that bitch yelled that in the film, so obvious and goofy.

forced diversity spiced with ironic whitewashing.

Women really dropped the ball on this one. They didnt support each other. If this keeps up the white males will win and build a better world.

>haunting soundtrack
80% of the movies soundtrack was ambient guitar struming only the last 20% was the psychadelic synths

If you liked the book, don't watch the movie. If you liked the movie, read the book.

Its reminded me a lot if the book/games

you dont really know for certain but basically they enter a zone where all living creatures DNA slowly mutates and mixes together to form new creatures. They found this guy who looks to have separated grown moss and vegetation steming from his veins which have turned into a root system

nigger if you can still watch Gibson after shouting about kikes you can watch Portman after she shouts about muh womyn

because despite that, the movie was still shit, like the book.

So are there any good webms of the gore yet?

The "Gore" is too pretty.

>great sci-fi movie is released
>every Sup Forums discussion thread has some dolt talking about cuck porn

with honestly one of the most tense scenes i've watched in recent memory, it involves portman dancing with a green alien clone of herself and trying to escape a room

but I was really high so idk

Kino*

Ftfy

But watching Gibson after he revealed he is redpilled is even better

>the only thing you got out of my entire comment was my blacked joke
stay highschool sci fi pleb.

so were the people in this pic people who turned to plants or plants that grew like people? Cause it looks like the black chick turned into one of them at the end

SPOILER

there are only two gory scenes where a guys intestines come to life and another where a girl gets her jaw ripped off thats about it nothing special

This would be a good shot if it didn't look so flat and muted. Looks like it's all on a green screen

Lame.
Thanks for the info.

I assumed they were plants that grew into the shape of some family that lived in the area (and probably died) when the shimmer landed

>go watch /fa/ntom thread in the kinoplex at the other side of the city
>raining real bad
>take the 8 pm showing
>"cool, all the entire cinema just for me"
>is actually packed
Is it doing financially good?

Mine was packed this past weekend. I was lucky to get a good seat.

I want to dislike this movie for all the stupid shit the characters do but goddamn the existential stuff makes me tingly.

Another shot that could've been good if it didn't have crappy Marvel movie shot composition. This shit looks unfinished. It's annoying

Compare the depth of this shot with the ones from Annihilation. On paper Annihilation should look better but it looks like total crap.

definitely watch this movie stoned

The all female ghostbusters sequel looks better than the original

>great sci-fi movie

Bad shot

DUDE WEED

>someone mentioned weed, time to reply with my 'hilarious' memes

Bad shot

>Bro, if u smoke weed, like, the colors are crazy man

Woahhh my mind is being blown right now!! Did you open your third eye my brother?!?

what movie is this?

Why didn't they just take a boat along the shore and to the lighthouse?

Too much sci-fi not enough stalker and lovecraftian horror. But that bear is the best design I have seen for a monster in as long I can think of.

>Natilie Portman
I'll wait for the remake.

>thought provoking
>dude what's going on?
>whoa are they aliens now?

is this from Hunger Games?

>lovecraftian horror
Yeah I agree. It needed more hot sexy Lovecraftian horror-fiends copulating with hot blonds and stuff. Galaxy of Terror will still be fapped to long after Annihilation has been forgotten.

Or if they wanted to study it why didn't they just walk 5 feet in, take some samples and walk back out

My takeaway was, it was a family standing outside having come out to witness/see the explosion the alien object caused when it hit the lighthouse and created the Shimmer. The Shimmer might have hit hard and fast when it first expanded out, mutating the family with plant genes that quickly overwhelmed them, thus leaving the their botanical remains the main characters found.

or moe's

>Same thing happens with all hard sci-fi.

As a huge sci-fi fan this used to upset me when I was younger. Now I'm just happy that a movie like Blade Runner 2049 even exists (saw it twice), because if the box office is any indication, it'll be a while before a studio decides to pour that much money into that type of high concept sci-fi movie again.

By the way, is there any decent rip of this thing? It's not releasing in my country.

I ain't afraid of no ghost!

>terrifying imagery

I wouldn't call it terrifying. You want terrifying, I gotchu
youtube.com/watch?v=5eaOkIoitXg

No, you retard. They explicitly say in the film the plants were just recreating DNA they had come into contact with so those particular plants took a human form

Looks like a horror chase-movie laced with feminism.

Shame though, the premise seemed very cool. I would enjoy a stalker-esque lovecraftian horror story.

>lovecraftian
Is this some sort of meme now? Why does everybody think anything with monsters or sci-fi has to be lovecraftian

agreed. as a kino enthusiast i watched this and it did not deliver. my normie girlfriend stayed awake for the whole thing and honestly found little to contemplate about. it's not that deep.

'Lovecraftian' doesn't have to do with sci-fi or monsters, it's about the unknown and supernatural. It's disturbing, not that it is scary, but because it isn't comprehendable.
