bro thats the art for the japanese only edition of the book

duh, nobody would want to buy it otherwise

>He doesn't know

Typical shitposter

kek, maybe it'll become a JP meme

since when was ms. marvel and squirrel girl that cute?

>Galacta on the bottom
she's canon now??

>Galacta when she's appeared in one comic like ten years ago.

Is that the same artist who did the art for her figure? Wish I could get the full pic.

I'd pay to read a cute team-up featuring Ms. Marvel, Gwenpool, and Squirrel Girl, with Galacta joining in every now and then.

I recognise the Kamala picture. Are these Japan-exclusive covers or something?

she forgotten

We get it user, you want to get cancer.

Gwenpool is the only book that actually looks like that (for about half the time anyways)

I'll translate it

It say "The New Generation of Marvel Heroines!
Publishing in 3 consecutive months!"

"If you buy all 3 you get a Galacta comic!"

Squirrel Girl artist is Shunya Yamashita (artist for a lot of the Kotobukiya figures)
Gwenpool is Gurihiru
Ms Marvel is Koyama Shigeto (he worked with Gainax of design a lot)

It says in English "original cover art" so Japs getting their own cover art.

>Japs have to bribe readers into buying shit American comics with a character that got like one shot like 10 years ago

...

Just the cover. That artist mostly does pinups and character designs.

CUTE
C U T E

Thanks user.

It was a simple, albeit apparently too elaborate joke that went way over your head and implied that japan got a redrawn version. it's funny because people don't like the current visual style of Squirrel Girl.

There's precedent for it too, as W.i.t.c.h did get a short-lived redrawn version in Japan

Christ.

Can you even imagine the disappointment when they see that cover, then actually open the comic, and everyone is a fat tranny with downsydrome?

>Gwenpool
>shit comic
Have you even tried reading it?

He didn't mention Gwen directly. Ms. Marvel ranges from good to just OK, the only really bad book is Squirrel Girl. I feel pretty bad for anyone who picks it up not knowing how shit the interior is.

>that doesn't excuse Ms Marvel and Squirrel Girl, which I'm obviously also talking about
Have you tried not being offended because you think someone insults your waifu?

Wew. Just checked the source
>twitter.com/vb_amecomi/
>Murata's Spiderman spread is the banner
Nice. I'd love to see him do an entire action sequence of Spiderman fighting.

thats cute

japanese people LITERALLY won't buy ANYTHING if it's not kawaii. seriously.

makes me wonder how can they eat everyday... WELL OF COURSE

>けものがフレンド

Since I'm translating, anyone want to know what they're saying about Marvel over on 2ch?

Complaining the price is really high (compared to manga I would say)
"It's expensive but I want to read everything"

"I want translation of Spider-Man after Big Time"

A bunch of comment trying to understand that Gerald Way and Daniel Way are different people.
And confused that Marvel Enchantress/Suicide Squad Enchantress are different.

They are talking about a line in Civil War and whether it was mistranslated. Apparently they translated "(You aren't) as disappointed as I am in myself" to "I'm not disappointed, it's a decision I made for myself" or something like that.

"When Capcom got X-Men, they said that it was "more popular than Batman and Superman". Was there any time that was actually true?"

"So when Marvel made it's first movie Iron Man, a bunch of people were saying 'Why Iron Man?' Was Iron Man not popular then?"

"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"

NOT
CANON

That's all hysterical
>Spider-Man hasn't been translated since Big Time
Oh. Oh shit, they don't know! They haven't had to go through Superior! Lucky devils, I hope it never gets translated, the later Slott stories are torture.

Why didn't I laugh?

what a salty bitch.

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"

The voice of reason.

I mean, not necessarily. See pic related (pic too large to upload):
cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/229851723521458176/362232028374106112/CnJXcviXgAAcTRU-Ci39iYGUoAML5cy-CkQjo2uWEAAggtL.jpg
At the very least, they could be aware of it like this artist was of Spiderverse.

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
It's a good feeling to know that there are Sup Forumsmrades at heart all over the world

They do actually have Superior.

The books they have translated officially are weird.
villagebooks.net/books/?c=amecomi

Just out of curiosity: are Western comics printed on Japanese market flipped so they can be read from right to left or are nipreaders just dealing with western way of reading like we do with mangos?

>"When Capcom got X-Men, they said that it was "more popular than Batman and Superman". Was there any time that was actually true?"
>"So when Marvel made it's first movie Iron Man, a bunch of people were saying 'Why Iron Man?' Was Iron Man not popular then?"
>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
Those are the same sentiments I had

My Squirrel Based Heroine Can't Be This Cute

It would be hilarious if Marvel quietly went out of their way to have a Japanese artist completely redraw the entirety of Squirrel Girl so that they don't have to try and sell Henderson's woodcut etchings to otaku.

Because humour is subjective. You don't have to laugh at every joke. It's not a responsibility or anything.

Japs understood the truth

books.shopro.co.jp/?categories=americancomics
Another realtor if you want to see what books Japan has.

No idea, I only read comics in English. I assume they keep them the same.

Interesting fact: the writing in manga is vertical. But when they translate American comics, they keep the writing horizontal.

It's not as big as deal, seeing how they do read horizontally on the internet and shit anyway.

What I'm afraid of is, somehow, by some sort of anti-miracle, USG becomes huge in Japan and we have to deal with reverse-weeaboos praising it forever.

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
based
more translations please

>It's a good feeling to know that there are Sup Forumsmrades at heart all over the world

Isn't it amazing how everyone but Marvel can tell?

Doubtful, especially when it's up against Guruhiru.
Like, if I were arsed enough to do so, I'd draft up a quick comparison between the art of Ms. Marvel, Gwenpool, and Squirrel Girl to show what Japan would be in for when buying the comics.

Are you sure about the second point?

>Lead in with Ms. Marvel, the unqualified success and trendsetter.
>Bolster the sales with Gwenpool, a book about cute supervillains doing cute things.
>put Unbeatable at the back so it doesn't kill the other book's sales with bad reviews and word-of-mouth
They know.

Iron Man was sort of luck and happenstance, being the first movie. Jon Favreau approached Marvel because he was, personally, a big fan of Iron Man and wanted to tackle the character in his next movie. At the same time, Marvel was grumbling about how far off base the outside movies were, and had been toying with the idea of just making movies all on their own. It was peanut-butter and chocolate.

>I'd draft up a quick comparison between the art of Ms. Marvel, Gwenpool, and Squirrel Girl to show what Japan would be in for when buying the comics.

This doesn't make any sense, they have previews for their comics ya know.

>it's funny because people don't like the current visual style of Squirrel Girl.
How dare you, we love it on rebbit.

My soul just puked into my lungs.

I mean that I'd just slap together an example of the interior art to show how one of the three is not like the others, and one of the three just doesn't belong.

That's some nice art for such a shit event

Dat Silk

Honestly everything about the MCU's success is amazing. They started out with a washed up druggie actor playing a C-list character that no one cared about and most people didn't know and it not only redeemed that actor and made Iron Man a household name, it grew into a media juggernaut that managed to take Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy and turn them into profitable and well-reviewed blockbusters. And that's not even touching on the accomplishment of the cinematic universe itself and how every studio is trying to imitate it.

Carry on please
>A bunch of comment trying to understand that Gerald Way and Daniel Way are different people.
>And confused that Marvel Enchantress/Suicide Squad Enchantress are different.

"I bought Spider-Gwen. I wish it were published continiously."

"I wonder if there are Iron Man, Cap or Spider-Man in the 'Season One' line. Wish it would be translated if they are out, I like those series" [Someone posts lins to comixology showing the Season One books that are one]

"Civil War II will definitaely get translated, but others like Death of Wolverine, AXIS and Secret Wars I'm not sure about"

"Having a lonely life is a hero's duty..."

They are caculating how much a bunch of books are per page.
"Masterworks Amazing Spider-Man: 4298 yen, 272 pages, 15.8 yen per page
etc. Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD is the cheapest per page.
4298 yen in USD is $38.

"I'm glad I can read some older books. They are a certain charm."

"I like Harry and Norman in American Son. It's a shame that it wasn't translated after that." (Publishers skipped to Superior.)

"Was the original Extremis book published before the first live-action movie? The content is very good."

"What channel/when is the Spectacular Spider-Man rerun?"

"How was the third generation Spider-Man"
"Was lovely." "Top class even compared to the previous ones."

"After watching Homecoming I want to start reading Spider-Man comics. What do you recommend? Brand New Day?"

"I always get Polaris and Enchantress confused."

"Peter and MJ were a good couple. The main universe will not return to that route though..."

They are talking about a bunch about Spider-Man because the movie. Thread is also filled with wondering how popular Spider-Man is/would the Japanese translations sell/etc. "Spidey's current comics aren't that popular right?"

Ms. Marvel isn't shit either though. It's nothing great, but it's certainly not shit.

>"How was the third generation Spider-Man"
>"Was lovely." "Top class even compared to the previous ones."

Fujos gonna shit

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
Nips confirmed #woke.

>Civil War II will get translated
>AXIS and Secret Wars won't
I pray for their sake that's not the case.

>"When Capcom got X-Men, they said that it was "more popular than Batman and Superman". Was there any time that was actually true?"
Superman and Batman might be more recognizable due to pop culture osmosis but I would bet that in the '90s the X-Men were certainly more popular than both Superman and Batman.

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
Nips know what's up.

Is Spider-Man most popular there?

>Peter and MJ were a good couple.
>I want to start reading Spider-Man comics. What do you recommend? Brand New Day?
Most of them will never experience OMD betreyal.

>Spidey's current comics aren't that popular right?
It's sad how people halfway around the world know that Spider-Man is dying, but Marvel can't see it.

They do the same thing with JAV porn. They airbrush the shit out of the covers so when you watch one you're always disappointed.

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
It's amazing how Scott actually managed to unite different people all over the world under his message.
Being dead also protect him from bad writing for now

I guess I should have given some background on how 2ch threads work. I'm reading the generals. Threads never die.
TEEN TITANS GO THREAD
"Shit show"
"People who like this need to kill themselves"
"To me, both TT and TTG are garbage"

X-MEN THREAD
"Was X-24 movie only character"
"X-23 was originally from the cartoon X-Men Evolution"
"No, I'm talking about the Logan clone."

"Do I need to read anything before I read Old Man Logan?" "Nah."

[Image of Magento family with Wanda/Pietro/Polaris]
"This family bloodline is confusing"
"Magento being the twin's father is gone now."

They talk about Cyclops a bunch. Japan has best husbando taste. "Please give Scott love as well" "I want Scotty to retrieve his honor"

And I'm done. I hope everyone enjoyed Tales from 2ch.

I think they are just talking about it more now because the movie has people interested.

Also they talk about how Star Wars comics are apparently the most popular.

>'90s the X-Men were certainly more popular than both Superman and Batman
They posted a link to comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/1995/1995-01Diamond.html

JUST HIRE THE JAPANESE ARTISTS YOU INCOMPETENT FUCKS!

They even wrote it in English.
Truly the unifying phrase of our time.
How can one man be so right?

>To me, both TT and TTG are garbage

Mah nippon nigga

>mangaka make barely living wages killing themselves
If there wasn't that xenophobia they have it'd be easy to steal them away

He had a popular Toku show which defined a lot of the genre trappings we know today, so he certainly has a strong presence.

>TEEN TITANS GO THREAD
>"Shit show"

DC also released Gotham Academy over there a while back.

Seems both of the Big 2 understand the Japanese audience want cute girls. (Though Marvel is only giving them 2/3rds that.)

I remember they finally had Ricken do interior art and I was disappointed by the colorist. I can't find a good example of it right now though.

>tfw no cute Squirrel Girl comic featuring her doing cute things

Man, I would cut off one of my fingers for Gotham Academy to get a halfway decent TV anime.
>Weeb
There are MAYBE 2 American studios that could make it work, and they both have full plates right now.

>Book published in Japan by an American company, written and illustrated by Canadians.

What a magical time we live in. It's easy to dwell on the bad shit, but this makes me happy.

>"After watching Homecoming I want to start reading Spider-Man comics. What do you recommend? Brand New Day?"
Reeeeeeeeeee

>mangaka make barely living wages killing themselves

This is meme.

>If there wasn't that xenophobia they have it'd be easy to steal them away

This is nonsense because there's a Justice League manga currently running in Champion Red drawn by a Japanese artist.

Where's the logic in getting Japanese artists to draw these stories anyways?

Figured I'd translate this:

"Cute and mysterious new American Comic!"
"Batman x School Comic!"
"Studying at the prestigious Gotham Academy, this isn't the typical school life!"

They use "キュート" aka cute in English rather than ~kawaii~ as you'd think

GA would fit really well into an episodic format. Though it would be too easy to diverge from the Gothic mystery styling that made the first 12 issues so good.

Doing the right thing and getting shit on by everyone is a universal trope

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
wtf i love japs now

>"The Avengers are racist! Cyclops was right!"
Nice

Obligatory

>"I want Scotty to retrieve his honor"

So does everyone else, based nippon Sup Forumsbro.

Who's the bad guy Spidey is fighting in the front and center?
And Sabertooth in the upper left corner, why? He's not a Spider-man foe.

It won an Eisner lads, it's not just leddit. The eisners are so pathetic and a disgrace to his name.

kyuto? really?

Actually that does sound cuter. What the fuck is going on with the increase of loan words from english?

The Eisners also gave Saga both best new series and best continuing series in the same year. And its gotten to the point if one of the Saga team is on the shortlist, they're the winner.

They have no check on their own biases.

Man so they suffer from translations there too.

Japanese learn English in high school, so the amount of English words that understand is high. Also English sounds cool to them.
Personal opinion so no one takes as fact and get mad: you get a connotation that mixes cool+cute. So while kawaii means 'adorable, cute and little, a little more sparkly", cute in katakana feels a less... childish form of cute.
English words Japanese use but are slightly different in meaning are interesting. Like "bitch" in Japanese doesn't mean the sort of shrill annoying thing like in English, but is more akin to 'slut'.

Heh, marvelfags on 2ch are bunch of a fucking casuals. DC guys are on the level of local user though.

Well, duh. Do you think everything we produce makes it over there?

It's about the same. Probably more new people in Marvel thread because of successful Spider-Man movie.

DC thread:
"Ah, Batgirl Year One will never be out of development hell."
"Isn't it Earth One?"
"I think he's talking about the sister version to Robin: Year One"

"The main Earth is called Earth 0, Earth 1 is modern Silver Age like world."

Talking about Batman Earth One

"I'd like to see Jor-El verus Flashpoint world Thomas Wayne."

"When does Flash 30 come out"
"Between the time 29 and 31 comes out"

They have a separate Batman general

Obligatory obligatory

More like diebeetus.
