Everything was pretty Obama centric. All the meme's and the likes.
Palin was a meme giver and McCain was old, not that he's young now mind you.
Christian Brooks
Also I miss verticals
Nicholas Anderson
Honestly I don't think it was till around the failure of the second bailout that the community started to turn against him
Carter Walker
I've always had the impression that most anons' cynicism is the result of being naturally optimistic.
Luis Lopez
I really look forward to making a version of that GIF with Trump and Hillary.
Dylan Parker
I'd apply that to all of humanity. It's perception that causes differentiation

i dont give a shit what you found. saying Sup Forums "loved" obama in 2008, and didnt support romney is a complete fabrication. you're either a liar or a retard
Evan Myers
I said the community was torn on Romney, but yeah Obama had big support in '08 McCain supporters were a minority
Blake Butler
you can say it until baby dicks flow out your ears, rabbi. its simply not true.
Jace Taylor
So you're telling me that after all the shit Romney was caught doing that he had major support?
You see things through rose tinted glasses.
Christopher Taylor
No. Sup Forums is the counter culture and calls out the establishment and the corrupt. Now we know what kind of monster the establishment and DNC in particular have become, along with their media cronies. They need someone to answer to and this familiar face provided.
Any faggot who thinks Trump is the most dangerous enemy is a retard and willing idiot ready to walk into the authoritarian furnace the USA has started stoking mightily these past few years. They won't reform unless they get a strong message, his name is Trump.
Benjamin Morales

Wew nice revisionism. The only candidate that had support on this site in 2008 was Ron Paul. Those memes you're talking about didn't come from here they came from normalfags discovering the internet around the same time as the election. In 2012 Sup Forums was split on Romney because half were pissed of the shit that happened at the RNC to shaft Paul. The support for Romney was mainly just opposition to Obama and not support of the candidate himself outside of a few retarded unironic republicans that thought they belong.
Christian Ramirez
>Saying people don't like or support corruption >Rabbi
Ron Paul had massive support and the meme's kept flowing through out but once he was kicked out people went to Obama.
Jonathan Carter
Everyone here backed Ron Paul in BOTH those elections you dumb shill
You fucking idiot. I could look at the front page right now and find that many CTR posts and use that to argue that Sup Forums support Hillary.
Isaac Cruz
Also 2012 Gary Johnson was Sup Forums's candidate of choice by the time of the election but outside of Sup Forums it was Obongo
Oliver Nguyen
It was definitely Ron Paul
how could I forget
Henry Gray
I think you mixed up "Sup Forums" with "reddit".
Ian James
>Romney >2008 I was here in 2012 but I'm suspect if you were
Jayden Lewis

Dominic Fisher
Are you kidding? zimzam was the best thing to happen to this board since trump
Ayden Morris
Sup Forums as a whole definitely supported Obama in '08, they memed the shit out of him. Of course there were detractors and variations between boards, but I specifically remember the largest boards at the time like Sup Forums, Sup Forums, and Sup Forums all liking him. Sup Forums dropped him like a hot potato after the elections, but during them the majority definitely favored him.
2012 was Ron Paul all the way until some polls in October suggested that Romney could conceivably win, and some people started to support him because they thought it'd be funny. As election day drew near most people jumped ship and very begrudgingly accepted Obama as it became clear that he would win, but there were some die-hards. It's worth noting that the famous Romney screencap has the dates cropped out.
2016 is all about Trump hands down, even boards that don't like him don't DEFEND Hillary.
Samuel Diaz
>once he was kicked out people went to Obama. What boards were you browsing in 2008 m8? I'd be interested in seeing archives or screencaps of this widespread Obama support. Politics wasn't even that big on this site outside of meming Ron Paul. There really wasn't support for Obama anons were too cynical for that hope and change crap, widespread support here wouldn't have made sense.
It wasn't that widespread but it was there somewhat mainly because the board self identified more libertarian then. However, this was also because no one really knew Gary Johnson even the people who were supporting him then.
Landon Perry
>Gonna be a lot of devastated Democrats come election night, but the biggest loser in this whole thing will be Nate Silver, who will have to go back to baseball. >nice try, nate >what are libfags going to do in '16 after silver has no credibility? >confirmation bias strikes Nate Silver. Much butthurt to ensue. >Yeah, as usual half of thread is MUH NATE SILVER!!1 And then it's gonna be MUH STOLEN ELECTIONS. Never change democraps. >Nate Silver is going to be reduced to sucking cocks in a back alley for a living after Romney's landslide election win tomorrow. Where have I heard this before?
It's like you people completely forget that Ron Paul ran in 2008. None of you revisionist ever post any proof whatsoever of this supposed Obama support. I think you also confuse meme creation with support of someone his policies. Spinning Sup Forums making memes about a politician in 2008 into political support is absurd.
Brayden Davis
Nate Silver truly is the meme that keeps on giving
Samuel Cox
>comparing it to confirmed paid shitposters, an unprecedented event in 4chans history
JIDF has been shilling here for a very long time
Levi Brooks
Treating Sup Forums as a monolith doesn't make any sense. You can come here and find anything if you're looking for. Sup Forums is its own hug box Sup Forums /r9k/ etc. are their own echo chambers too. Sup Forums is just the biggest because most other sites can't handle the bantz
Carson Wright
Romney was full on mormon garbage. I wish he ran so trump woulda jeb'd his Jew cocksucking ass.
Ian Bell
Is it so surprising that obama won when memes like this were being tossed around?
Jack Miller
shit forgot pic valid. unprecedented on this scale then. i mean the maymays have broken the 4th wall for fucks sake
Ian Ross
that's a cute couple :3
Adrian Sanchez
There was a lot of Ron Paul support too, and they memed the shit out of him as well. I'm not personally being a revisionist, it's what I genuinely remember. Also I recall that it was more in reaction to McCain/Palin than his own stance, and a lot of people weren't fond of a nigger being president, but I swear it's truly and honestly what I remember man.
Also there's not an archive alive that goes back to 2008, and unfortunately I had a hard drive crash in 2011. I'd be happy to see some definite evidence either way honestly.
Aaron Watson
Sup Forums never loved Obama At best he was the acceptable alternative to Bush style neocons with an ambiguous enough nature that some fun memes could be made about Obama Biden existed as an interesting contrast to what was expected Once Obama replaced Bush he became the fun thing to mock since he was in power Ron Paul became our guy hugely in 2012 and stayed that way till now Romney became the contrast candidate and was supported as the guy who could rid us of this PC negro but never enjoyed true love Trump is the only one who has held consistent support and love for being himself and being a living meme
Justin Bailey
Its not us.
American elections have always been based in memes.
Noah Russell
Sup Forums is antiestablishment. If it was Bernie vs Jeb, people here would probably support Bernie.
Alexander Ross

The fuck? Moot changed /n/ into transportation because people were calling Obama a stupid nigger.

Charles Foster
>Also I recall that it was more in reaction to McCain/Palin than his own stance, and a lot of people weren't fond of a nigger being president, but I swear it's truly and honestly what I remember man. This is all true and that's how I remember it as well. But there wasn't support for Obama just memeing that mainly filtered in from the wider internet, politics didn't matter as much here back then. If anons were in full support of a candidate they would have been told to fuck off for being too seriousfag. There was also some backlash against Ron Paul supporters then for that reason.
Colton Green
How many of you were like me and voted Obama because you were young and idealistic. Boy did that go to shit.
Mason Cox
That sounds about right yeah. Sorry if it seemed like I was pushing things or something, I think I oversimplified my first post a bit. Also it's been 8 years so things are a bit fuzzy for me.
It's actually pretty funny how Sup Forums went from being so not-serious to being so serious. You'd probably get banned on a lot of boards if you posted the way that most people did from about '03 to '08.
Alexander Foster
Ron Paul was literally Sup Forums of the day personified. I miss Paulposting.
Eli Fisher
nah homes.
Oliver Smith
Wtf are you talking about ? Ron Paul was the candidate of Sup Forums in both 2008 and 2012 , and after the RNC rigged the primary and the media ignored RON PAUL , some republicans went for obama
Ayden Howard
...
Leo Lopez
The fuck is it with this revisionism. Sup Forums went from fedora libertarian racists to full on nationalism. I wish this weren't the case, but it's so.
Ryder Miller
>Sup Forums >loved Obama
Sure we did. Just like you can look back and tell your kids all about how "we" supported Hillary newfriend. you can even post a bunch of screenacapped pictures with pro-Hillary comments! :^)
Eli Torres
I remember 2008 clearly and Sup Forums absolutely hated Obama and Hillary.
General opinion on Sup Forums was that absolutely anyone would be better than Obama. Turns out they were right again.
Jaxon Wilson
Sup Forums taught me the truth
Lincoln Smith
>Sup Forums
Only Sup Forums loved Obama you fucking faggot
Alexander Moore
Obama promised change and fucked it up.
I liked McCain. I felt like Obama was using a lot of catch words and slogans, and not really delivering any ideas or substance. McCain, although I didn't really agree with him, sounded like he had an actual plan.
I feel the same way about Trump and Hillary. Trump has more substance. He has an actual plan. Hillary just wants the job so she can make money.
Zachary Garcia
Just to expand on that back then fox news was completely retarded and evangelist were wanting to ban video games and thought Sup Forums was some sort satanic cult. This was before sjw's or even reddit were even a thing, they existed but were irrelevant. There was antipathy to McCain/Palin for those reasons as McCain was a neocon and Palin was a walking meme. But yeah the support for Obama you're remembering was just funposting at the time and nothing like what things are like now. I wish I cared more about keeping data back then, I never thought I'd care about those saved images until they were long gone.
>You'd probably get banned on a lot of boards if you posted the way that most people did from about '03 to '08. lul there is no question you'd be banned. I've been banned on Sup Forums for posting like back then. Everything was pretty much shitposting, I'd say we talked more like reddit does now but at some point that became so proliferated on the internet by normalfags who didn't get it that it became cringy to continue to post in certain fashion. It was a slow painful transition to post irony as everything we enjoyed was stolen and became 'internet culture'. I still remember being pissed at sites like Ihazcheezburger. I'm glad moot added [s4s] it reminded me a lot of what it was like back then.

yeah, nobody -liked- romney, but nobody liked king nigger more
Levi Martin
Sup Forums doesn't have political views, we just choose the chaos candidate every time.
Get ready for the 180 after Trump loses, this entire board will be flooded with people laughing at previous Sup Forums comments and it will revert to some sort of pre-election post-/r9k/ pathetic social justice warrior shit again.

More like retards from Digg and eternal summer underageb& flooding the site, but /n/ was racist as fuck and got deleted because of it

I'm pretty sure Sup Forums didn't even exist in 2008. /new/ might not have existed either.

That's sort of contradictory, isn't it? Right wing politics isn't based on the idea of equality as a moral good.

I've been here since 2006. Sup Forums has neverb een ideologically unified. I'd say only with Trump has Sup Forums been majority leaning in one direction, especially Sup Forums. You very rarely see genuine opposition.
Anyone that says Sup Forums was anything but a website dedicated to anime, porn, memes, and trolling is a lying newfag.
Sup Forums still trolls as much as ever, except now you actually mean it.
Landon Ward
OP must have hung out on the gay corners of this website like Sup Forums. Sup Forums was predominately supporting fucking RON PAUL. Where the fuck do you think the happening memes come from?
Gavin Watson
You're a retard. Having a particular set of values and promulgating them is not what makes SJWs bad. It's that their values are fucking garbage.
>I hate SJWs just like you guys. But don't you think anti-SJWs are just as bad, those problematic racists?
Matthew Flores
A lot of underage b& from 2007-2008 (the people who made up Sup Forums, Sup Forums and Sup Forums back in the day) are now fully grown up, but have a skewered view of things because they never really "got" Sup Forums back in their youth.

It's pretty telling how doom Paul(or its derivative memes) is rarely posted anymore.
Daniel Cox
This. A lot of the Romney support was from people new to Sup Forums at the time who hadn't been fully assimilated yet. Looking back, I was one of them. Now the climate is entirely different, the hatred for establishment Republicans is almost universal.
Anthony Peterson
You cannot have serious ideological convictions and find yourself at the center of different ideologies. There is no centrist ideology. It's fence sitting with what "sounds nice" to people who don't want to develop a consistent moral and intellectual framework to understand the world.
You can have a strong conviction about isolated elements, but if they do not compose an underpinning logic to bind them, then you're an irrational faggot.
Brayden Perez
if you're a centrist for the sake of being a centrist it definitely does
like people like Jeb Bush who pride themselves on being "moderate republicans" make me fucking sick
Kayden Perry
Hahaha you are literal leftist aids. How can you still show your face here? Hippy povo scum.
Leo Scott
Realpolitik will always be more effective than internally consistent ideology.
Cooper Gray
You're a fucking faggot, saying people supported Obongo is like saying Sup Forums is a pro shillary board.
Gabriel Bennett
Realpolitik is just being Machiavellian to accomplish your goals. You still need goals, unless you're an unambitious person who only wants influence.
Napoleon practiced realpolitik and garnered power, but he still had goals based on his nationalist ideology. Hitler tolerated basic Christianity in society or paganism among his leadership depending on which side of that argument you fall on, but clearly he still had an ideology.
