David Chase Plots 'Sopranos' Prequel Movie

Am I the only one that thinks this is a monumentally bad idea?

>'The Many Saints of Newark' will take place during Sixties race riots in New Jersey

>David Chase sold a script for a Sopranos prequel movie to New Line Cinema, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Many Saints of Newark will be set against the backdrop of the race riots that engulfed Newark, New Jersey in the Sixties.

>The film will look at how racial tensions and violence played out among members of Italian and African American organized crime groups. Though no other plot details were given, the film will reportedly feature some fan favorite characters from HBO's classic drama, The Sopranos.

>
Chase wrote the screenplay for The Many Saints of Newark with longtime Sopranos scribe, Lawrence Konner. The search for a director is underway and no casting decisions have been announced, nor has an official timetable for the film's release.

>The Sopranos premiered on HBO in 1999 and ran for six critically-acclaimed seasons, winning a pair of Peabody Awards, 21 Emmys and five Golden Globes. Following the show's end, Chase turned to filmmaking, releasing his directorial debut, Not Fade Away, in 2012.

Cant think of any movie based on series that wasnt dogshit right now. Only one i know of is entourage and while i have a soft spot for it, movie was way below average

Also sopranos without James "God amongst men" Gandolfini will not ever be the same

The trailer is pretty nuts.

dude I can't wait for the side story where we find out that Tony's mom became so racist because the black gangster she was having an affair with broke her heart.

Sounds like propaganda

>Sopranos prequel about race relations instead about the fucking colombo wars

DELET

If you think a black gangster isn't going to be fucking someone's wife in this movie, then you haven't been paying attention to movies and tv for the last 15 years

>Sopranos prequel movie
>MUH RACE MUH NEGROES

Americans have lost their fucking marbles completely

Reminder that Chase wanted us to emphasize with Tony in this scene.

He's always been /poltv/'s guy
