Better or worse then R&M?

I might be a little late to the party, but what is Sup Forums's opinion on Bojack as a whole and it's 4th season?

I honestly think it's better than R&M.

Now let the shitstorm begin.

season 4 blew my mind with the some of the shit it tackled

there were less threads shitting up the board around bojack's s4 release than every weekly release of rick and morty so that's a point to bojack

Not related to your question - but the only reason I watched Bojack (season 1) was because a friend pointed out there's Peanuts references in it (and gave your pic related as an example), and that I'd appreciate them.

I can't think of a currently airing show with a character I dislike more than Diane.

Same desu, shit actually happened in s4 unlike s3 of rick and morty

Why would that cause a shitstorm?

I was honestly too busy watching the show to shitpost and too sad to shitpost after.

Not even Beth aside from weird clone Beth

better. Mainly because i view rick and morty as any other cheap comedic cartoon. I actually feel happy and sad based on how the show goes. It might sound autistic but that's my two cents.

It really is better than R&M. I think it has a better balance of comedy and drama and I'm a lot more invested in the characters. They feel more like real people (ironically).

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Bojack Horseman. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the most advance of psychology most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Bojack's pessimistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Arthur Schopenhauer literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Bojack Horseman truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Bojack’s existential catchphrase “This is the best thing to happen to me,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, I DO have a Bojack Horseman tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

Tried getting into it but couldn't. Some of the characters are unbearable. They need to kill off Todd.

what's wrong with Diane

i don't get it

Bojack on the whole is the better cartoon and season 4 clinched it forever

>muh darkest season ever
>some half-assed divorce drama
>more gore porn

meanwhile with Bojack we got:
>lobotomies to treat depressed women
>miscariages
>drugging overweight teenagers against their will
>Mr. Peanutbutter basically starting mob rule wherever he goes
>Ruthie
>illegitimate children
>STUPID PIECE OF SHIT

Bojack feels more real because despite being completly cartoony in style it speaks to us as human beings. Sure the gun control episode was pretty shit and Todd became an insufferable asshole but otherwise the writing is solid and treats the watchers like people following a story and not high jackasses who just want Family Guy with portal gun man

Rick and Morty had so much potential but ended up taking the easy path as most shows do

loved the style of pic related chapter

also this season had the best episode 11, and it did not need a BIG DRAMA moment like sara lynn or penny, it was just really good from start to end

I wouldn't compare two, Rick and Morty is on the same level of family guy, lowest common denominator trash that lives on stupid gags, Gore, nonsensical jokes, and unlikeable characters. It blows my mind when anyone claims r&m has any sort of emotional depth it's just another bland animated comedy.

I think that Bojack is constantly good, while the quality of a rick and morty episode varies episode per episode. Bojack Horseman's best seasons were 2 and 3, but I'd say that some Rick and Morty episodes outdo some of the best Bojack Horseman episodes.

Season 4 of Bojack wasn't amazing though, and season 3 of Rick and Morty was very inconsistent.

wow there mate
NOTHING can be as low as family guy, not even if they tried

I loved that art style. In general I don't really care for BHs art style, but I love this art style.

I worked in Dementia and Alzheimer's care for 5 years and I have never seen a show tackle this issue so accurately.
Most shows portray it very badly and it's clear the writers have never been around someone with these medical issues or don't understand them very well.
Bojack was perfect, absolutely perfect. I actually cried a little bit at the end of episode 11. I couldn't believe how real and touching it all was. It blew me away.

I laugh more at R&M and feel more with Bojack. Overall I'd call Bojack the more consistently solid of the two.

BOOM BIG REVEAL
I'M PICKLE MR. PEANUT BUTTER

Apples and oranges. One focuses more on sci-fi adventure, while the other focuses more on drama.

different kind but for what it does Bojack is better for me, better humor, better drama, better dialog

It's because you need to have a very high IQ to get it

Pretty much this. You have two vastly different shows trying to convey two different things that are only tangibly similar. Bojack is more about Hollywood culture and all the ugliness that comes with it, where as Rick and Morty is a sci-fi show. Both utilize comedy and drama to tell stories, but different.

Strictly speaking in broad strokes, Bojack is the more enjoyable show for me because it feels like it's going somewhere, albeit slowly, whereas as Rick and Morty doesn't have that pay off. However when an episode of Rick and Morty doesn't feel phoned in the comedy is much better than Bojack - but their drama has never really wowed me.

I liked the way they executed Bea's backstory but I don't think it was really necessary. A shitty childhood is pretty much a given based on the past seasons and themes of cycle of abuse. It pretty much cemented what we already guessed and didn't add much to the story in the present. Shit happened, she's old and senile is going to die soon. If you say "There is no point, that's the point" then that has been hammered by the rest of the show already. I'm still struggling to figure out what Bea's arc adds to the characters and thematically.

>owl waifu is not in the season

Rick and Morty actually has discussion. Bojack threads just have a bunch of pansy ass wannabes talking about how much better they are than rick and morty fans.

Will you guys accept that Sup Forums loves the horse show now?

lol wut

...

That's not an argument tho. It's fucking Lisa Simpson all over again with people taking the things fictional characters say and do way too seriously

Definitely better. It takes the audience more seriously, the characters get more development, and the comedy isn't at total odds with the drama. Also stronger feels. That's not to say the show is perfect, just generally higher quality. It's still going strong even in its fourth season, whereas R&M dipped in season 2 and sunk even further in season 3.

I could watch several more seasons of Bojack Horseman, I don't know if I'll even bother with the next season of Rick and Morty. It's not like we're starved for "adult" comedies anymore, there's also F is for Family.

It's a show only for people who hate themselves, have depression and hate life. So, losers

I think you just described Sup Forums

They are two completely different types of shows with the only similarity being they are animated and intended for adults.

Literally the opposite you racist sexist beta male.

Its a meme from plebbit but with rick and morty

That's why were discussing in Sup Forums.

Also,

>Sup Forums

I'd say Bojack is a contender for best western cartoon period whereas R&M has flashes of sheer brilliance but is far too inconsistent. Its creative process is what allows for both the terribly disappointing episodes and the exceptional ones, so it's a real double edged sword, but when it hits it's a hell of a lot funnier than almost any other cartoon in recent memory. It just doesn't hit often enough given how many duds it's had.

Bojack, meanwhile, is very focused and is continually improving. I'd say season 4 is less consistent than season 3, which was its most consistently great season, but s4 had the best episodes in the entire series so far and packed one motherfucker of an emotional gutpunch after another. It's not a perfect masterpiece by any means but it's so unique at the moment. A better comparison of shows would be Bojack against Morel Orel. Personally, while I adore MO, I think Bojack is an overall better show by a hair or two.

>me an intelectual

No need for abuse, user.

The thing I see as a big difference is that Bojack suffering Nihilism isn't made out to try and be a pro. Rick has, in the last couple of episodes, been saying that nothing matters and that there is no meaning ect. without being crushed by it. As if it's something to try and achieve.

Rick takes it as if nothing matters then we can do anything without worry, Bojack is lost in the absence of meaning

Does the tattoo say "I'm having a ball at PB & Diane's wedding but underline the word ball I don't know why this is so hard"?

True but at the same time is there a better modern cartoon character then Princess Carolyn?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
