So... did this hit like a dud?

Because every report I read it sure seems like it hit like a dud.

Praise on sites. Legacy reached no 1.

The top is mostly dominated by batman while the market share is mostly still marvels.

Marvel figured out a way to give their customers exactly what they didn't want. Truly amazing stuff.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Marvel in 2017. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of extreme liberalism or else most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Nick Spencer's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from facism , for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Marvel truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Gabby Rivera's existencial catchphrase "I am America," which itself is a cryptic reference to the fact she is ruining the character. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Alonso and Quesada's genius unfolds itself on the pages of the comics. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a tattoo of Dan Slott. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they have at least 5 Dan Slott haters on their Twitter account blocked in contrast to my own before hand.

Fags

>someone with a low IQ

Only trump voters have high iq

I dont know about the rest but Marvel managed to give me everything I dont want in just a single issue and the perfect excuse to finally walk away

high iq scores are when the numbers go UP user

The day Rebirth hit we had threads reach cap for days about every part of the comic and multiple storytimes. The day Legacy hit we had a storytime, another half-hearted story time and reaction thread that failed to reach cap and a "We wuz kree n sheeit!" thread. Along with the digital not hitting #1, the BC report saying tha Legacy as largely #2 everywhere, and multiple retailer reports saying that sales were just okay, it's safe to say the indications are that it was a dud

I'm sorry, but did Marvel already lose? Oh, that's right. Legacy isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only just begun. Does not having the lead at the start count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when Legacy is still only starting? Marvel is just getting started and they have been the best comics publisher for how many years now? They're facing one of the worst publishers in the business who just happen to have a lead because they're feeding off the energy of a relaunch. But you know what? They still fucking suck. Marvel has one of the best fucking writing teams in the comics, they went 9-7 last year and would of won the every award if the Mouse didn't choke. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when the Marvel wins and someone bumps this topic. Oh look at that, DC just launched another shit movie when they needed to keep WW's momentum. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-Marvel topics because you're an autist who doesn't like Marvel because they're good. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking comics on the board, like I give a fuck. It's so easy to spot out your threads now, you're a retard. Always doing stupid shit like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your fucking life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. Fuck you. You are nothing.

But it'll be a sales hit because of variant covers and the price.

speaking of variants, my LCS owner was flaunting the lenticular legacy cover spirits of vengeance coming out this week and it was fucking terrible. First of all, the transition was nauseating because of how different the two covers are. and secondly there's no "layering" on the images so it doesn't look as 3d like the lenticular covers that DC does recently.

it honestly looks like a rushjob and a kneejerk decision on the part of marvel after the commotion about the "industry changing" gif's

Well, now I wanna see a video. I wonder if there's anything on Twitter.

No homage variants, but apparently the Legacy #1 lenticular doesn't work as you expect it would:

Wow I haven't seen this pasta in a while

So it's just a shiny cover that doesn't shift in between two images?

It DOES shift. It's just not shifting well.

I'd love to see how the homage variants look, though.

lemme clarify, since you can't edit Sup Forums posts :^)

There is a very slight shift in the cover artwork, but it's very hard to actually perceive. Compare it to DC's lenticular variants where the picture shifts between two images at enough of a rate that you can see the two separate images clearly. With Legacy's lenticular variant, it's meant to shift from colored artwork to black-and-white inked artwork, but it would appear that the color artwork overpowers the black-and-white art.

depends if voyager is Valeria

should've recorded it, trust me it was fucking terrible and not worth the extra dollar. I bet walk in customers are gonna have a hard time seeing what the fuck the cover is given how it looks like paint vomit

the legacy #1 lenticular was actually a LOT better than the legacy lenticulars coming out this week because the one shot isn't really very different when shifting (the line art is exactly the same) but the other lenticulars are so much different. DC lenticulars specially the button were miles better btw.

I don't know about the others covers but when we saw the actual spirits of vengeance cover, me and the other regulars were laughing because we couldn't see shit

One of two LCS in my area was running sales all September long under the banner "Best September or Last September?" and I know for a fact it's because his Marvel readership has been in free-fall for the last two years. I doubt Legacy is going to save him.

Already saving your shekels for the clearance sale?

I don't even know if I will. There's a reason my pull list is at the other shop.

1. I've expressed interest multiple times in complete runs and issues that he "knows he has in storage" but he never does anything to follow up on it.
2. All of the pull lists and special orders are tracked by hand in a notebook by the register so sometimes it takes a full month for a request to bubble up to the owner/operator if he wasn't there the day you made it. They'll also regularly make excuses/get defensive about this process if you ask for updates/confirmation. "It's just comics, I don't know what the big deal is." - You're right, it's just my business, and I'll take it elsewhere.

Short version, he got comfortable being the only shop in town for a decade but between the new guy that's twice as professional and Marvel's declining readership, I think his days are numbered.

outstanding troll, nearly got me. 10/10 well played

I think she's probably Kobik

kek, chargers pasta never gets old

Legacy reached #3. Metal and Batman both beat it.

If he knows he has them in storage, you should definitely save up for that "going out of business" sale, cause he'll be selling them.

Its okay but not worth the six dollars. Its basically a preview book disguised as a watered down Rebirth. Starband got fucked hard.

Ok, I'm finally reading it so I can see what's up for myself. First impression: I really do not give a shit about these characters, these voices are off and the whole thing feels incredible disjointed after just ten pages.

Hickman left, fuck the new universe.

There was most definitely a kid Starbrand just recently and I don't think it was this guy.
Mangog sounds like Magog with a bigger dick.

So it reads like someone saw caveman Batman and the rebirth one shot and decided that they really needed to combine them, but without any of the heart and fan service. I also still don't care about any of these characters, or really anything else that's being published atm with the exception of Eye-Boy

I just want the marriage back. Is that too much to ask for? Marvel STILL hasn't recovered from the loss of sales on Spider-Man stories and they STILL refuse to undo OMD. Like, I don't even know what they have to gain from it anymore. You're pissing the fans off for the sake of pissing the fans off /and/ you're losing money. Does Marvel hate the fans /that/ much?

>the whole thing feels incredible disjointed after just ten pages
that usually happens when you do a preview magazine and say is a single story instead a bunch of few pages from different comics.

Next thing you know, legacy is part of the hypercrisis or some shiet

Not sure marriage will give back those sales. The big problem is the current writing. Slott rely on making new "surprise" status quo but can't do shit with it after 3-4 issues.
Peter having his own company ony to lose it 1 year was the biggest waste i felt this past 5 years. Slott can only write cliffhanger to sell his books but have no clue how to write arcs.

Excellent.

>Mangog

>multiple retailer reports saying that sales were just okay
Don't forget the number of retailers that were giving away free copies to subs or slashing prices everywhere just to get rid of them.

The loss in sales is almost certainly due to OMD. I can't find the chart, but I know some other anons have it. There was a /massive/ drop off after that book came out. It might not bring all of them back, but it certainly would pull in a shit ton of those lost readers.

I semi dropped spidey after one more day checking it from time to time. Spider Island, Superior and Spider multiverse were pretty meh and after that it went full on the boring train.

>Praise on sites.
Praise on what sites? The shill sites like Newsarama and CBR? They need to praise Marvel to keep their business relationship with them and get exclusives.

Yeah every time they lower expectations they still fail to meet them. Truly amazing, Marvel, you've underdone yourself again.

This. For years now I've casually gone alone with the cynical attitude that every publishing stunt is just some temporary thing that barely matters. "Oh they killed Wolverine? Sure they did. He'll be back". But now I simply don't care, at all, about any of it. Before now every storyline at least registered as "mattering" at least to some small extent, and at least while it was being published it was somehow slightly relevant.

But now? You could literally do anything with any character in Marvel and I could not care less. There simply isn't the talent or the goodwill to make ANYTHING matter anymore. It reads like fanfic that's all the more insulting because it's "official". "Wolverine is BACK!" "Cap Marvel is Earth's most popular hero!" "Kingpin is Mayor!" Who cares. Your stories are written and drawn by terrible toddlers.

I hate shops like that. "O yea I have a copy of that in the back somewhere."

>Superior
DESU I think Superior Spider-Man was legit very good, at least 80% of it was. There was some filler in there but overall I think that as an Omnibus collection it would be the best Spidey and Marvel storyline in probably the last decade.

I'm not a Slott fan at all but I think he's the closest thing Marvel has to a decent writer right now. He's a manchild with a warped attachment to what he's writing, but at least he cares about it. I don't get any impression that Waid or Bendis or anyone else really even cares about the characters they're writing anymore, the history, etc. But I think Slott cares on some level and is capable of writing decent comics.

He's going to go down as the guy who wrote ASM longer than any other writer. And the guy who got it down under 40k copies.

I feel the same. I knew before nothing would stick as far as shock deaths/events, but as long as the ride was good I went along with it. Legacy heroes used to be my favorite parts of these universes. Now it's all a joke and Marvel has sucked any interest I might have had out of the air.

At least I still have DC but the decisions Marvel is making are making me feel like all the time I invested getting into their universe over the years won't ever pay off again. In two weeks I'm probably going to read the last Silver Surfer comic of my life. And that sucks.

Unless you're like eighty, or have some kind of fatal disease, you will most likely live long enough to see the modern Marvel regime topple. Ike won't be around forever. They're in a pretty bad spot right now, but don't be so dramatic.

By the time they get their head out of their asses I probably won't be buying floppies. I love the medium, but eventually I'm just gonna switch to just reading trades from online bookstores.

Superhero comics are the only things actually worth picking up at a comic store weekly. The ones that aren't shit, I mean. Nobody's gonna spoil Black Science for me on a news site in the 6 months I'm waiting for the trade so there's no harm in being patient.

A trade is still a comic.

>he's the closest thing Marvel has to a decent writer right now.
Not when PAD and Conway are still working there.

Nobody said it was. But unlike a comic book I can get trades on Amazon. I can only buy "Marvel© Legacy" comics at a comic book store, the kind which they're currently screwing out of business.

>I think Superior Spider-Man was legit very good
You're joking, right?

That has nothing to do with what I said. user said "I'm going to read the last Silver Surfer comic of my life in two weeks" and I was telling them not to be so melodramatic because the current regime will fall eventually and they will start making good comics again.

Conway's off RYV's, what else is he doing?

>but unlike a comic book

Wait, no, a trade is still a comic book.
