Why were notorious ball-busters like Patrice O'Neal or Nic DiPaulo afraid to bust his balls, in fact even Pat Cooper would almost never shit on Opie. Why? He had no power; management, Ant, staff and pretty much every guest either didn't care for him or outright disliked him.

Jim and Ant are less funny together without Opie for some reason.

I wasn't a regular listener I've only listened to the eps with Patrice and a few others so far. Even then Opie is fucking unbearable most of the time, only time he was cool was after Obama got elected and Patrice was hanging shit on Ant for racism while Ant wasn't there to defend himself and Opie said it was t right to do that.

But so far Pat Cooper has been the only guy to give him shit I've heard and it was more a friendly "you've been carrying this guy for years" comment to Anthony. I think the reason nobody else did was because Greggshells made it a horrible work environment so they just overlooked it and guests knew that they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they gave him any shit as Ant wouldn't back them up and they'd lose any further publicity from the show

I think Patrice in private was a very lonely person. At the end of most of his episodes he'd express his unhappiness that their time together had come to an end. That said, I doubt he and Opie were as close as Opie made out to be.
