Is this worth reading? Is it doom patrol/invisibles good?
Seven Soldiers by Morrison
it's okay
I fucking loved Seven Soldiers, and Doom Patrol is one of my favorite comic runs ever. Invisibles had potential, but you can tell he wrote it while taking a bunch of drugs because it devolves into complete nonsense.
I think all the issues are on readcomiconline
>you can tell he wrote it while taking a bunch of drugs
holy shit that was my experience reading Arkham Asylum and Flex Mentallo.
It's fucking amazing. It made Frankenstein one of my favorite DC characters.
Frankie ongoing when?
2012.
I think he meant a GOOD ongoing. Also, it ain't exactly "ongoing" right now.
It's great.
Agent of SHADE was a good start, but they have to bring him bavk and flesh out his character a little more. He was in Superman not too long ago, so people definitely remember him.
Is etrigan in this
No
Probably the only Morrison trade without a single black guy in it
But that's wrong. Both Manhattant Guardian and Shiloh Norman are black.

Have you noticed the guy in the yellow helmet on the right you FUCKING CASUAL

SEVEN SOLDIERS, RANK EM
>Klarion
>Frankenstein
>Zatanna
>Guardian
>Bulleteer=Mister Miracle
>Shining Knight
>Klarion
>Frankenstein
>Miracle = Guardian (not bc they're black btw...)
>Zatanna
>Bulleteer
>Shining Knight
>when all the connections come into play in the last few issues
>The Witch-People are descendents of the Sheeda
>Klarion taking his place as the new Sheeda king
>Frankenstein is the king Sheeda's indirect offspring
>Frankenstein, born of Sheeda blood, and being undead, qualifies as a Grundy
>The New Gods guided humanity into its first technological age, ending with Camelot
What a fucking ride. Also,
>I, Spyder getting his last hurrah
>i will never give bulleteer bulletingus
was this series canceled or did it end properly?
>holy shit that was my experience reading Arkham Asylum and Flex Mentallo.
those were both before he started doing drugs.
I don't think Morrison really does drugs much. From what I've picked up in interviews and in Supergods it seems like he spent most of his life borderline straight-edge.
Don't worry user, it was a mini-series. It ended the way it was supposed to.
Klarion
Mr. Miracle
Frankenstein
Shinning Knight
Zatanna
Manhattan Guardian
Bulleteer
he's not straight-edge, he just doesn't think drugs contribute to the creative process (and also aren't healthy to be taking in your day-to-day life)
it's a bit frustrating to have every sort of creativity immediately be attributed to "DUDE DRUGS LMAO", as if people like moore, kirby, and morrison need psychedelics to be as good as they are
This. He honestly gets all the wacky metaphysical stuff from the new age pseudoscience practices he partakes in
He doesn't do drugs He does Chaos Magic
One of my favorite comics ever. Think of it more like a fantasy novel that just happens to be a comic book set in the DC universe. It's so freaking dense.
He was planned to but his slot was given to Frankenstein.
Definitely. People are so used to completely formulaic mass media that anything with an ounce of real creativity in it is shocking to them.
>Mister Miracle #4
>Manhattan Guardian
>Zatanna
>Rest of Mr Miracle
>Klarion
>Frankenstein
>Buleteer
>Shining Knight
Im also pretty convinced Frankenstein was Morrison doing his own spin on Hellboy.
I've seen interviews where he openly talks about doing shrooms with his friends back in the day. one of the ones in the 'hypercrisis playlist' of youtube links that gets bandied around
>and also aren't healthy to be taking in your day-to-day life
not to mention a waste of drugs. most psychadelics you need to wait at least a week before taking again otherwise you're not getting the full effect.
only exception that comes to mind is DMT but if you're willing to smoke DMT everyday you have some extremely severe emotional problems
>doom patrol/invisibles
Both are highly praised. I can't speak from experience. HOWEVER:
>Seven Soldiers
>Is this worth reading
Yes, ideally if you can get the two part trades or the omnibus. Otherwise you should be able to find scans or rips but you should find one of those good reading order things. I read pretty much each piece in order and then later re-read the two volumes and got a lot more out of it, but it's not something you need to re-read. I don't find it that re-readable, but it was definitely enjoyable (BTW, I don't own it, those were a friend's trades I borrowed and I no longer live in NorCal so no longer an option though I bet my library should have something).
The floppies I just read on line.
I had friends who did acid almost daily, but this was very good (we lived in the Bay Area and everyone knew a deadhead) non-speedy, not cut stuff. He was also a DJ for a living and did nothing else, other than every day stuff (grocery shopping, sex, errands).
You're otherwise right that most people that have to work for a living and have a life, school, etc, probably can't do them more than 2-4 times a month.
As much as i'm liking King's run, I dont think he'll be able to top this for emotional impact.
He is the drug.
Apart from A-list teams they never give us every piece for complete modern teams
WizKids is a cruel company
They published the reading order and in the diamond books everything was on the same page each month.
Mister Miracle was really underrated. It made the least amount of sense at the time but by the time Final Crisis was over it was the coolest of them all.
So.. this is menimist Secret Six?
This is my personal All-Star Superman
I'm pretty sure I've seen in an interview that he got the idea for Invisibles while doing acid in the desert...
It ended perfectly, and actually tied almost all the story threads together REALLY well. This is how a mini-series event should be done.
Huuuunghhh I want that thing.
Klarion is so based.
Nope.
I don't think any of these people actually directed interacted with each other, but the results of their actions did.
yeah but he used to lie in interviews all the damn time because he was pretending to be david bowie.
Seven Soldiers is so good that a lot of Morrison's post-SSoV work feels derivative.
don't make me laugh
lots and lots of Morrison ideas are straight up junkie trips
Frankenstein
Zatanna
Klarion
Miracle
Bulleteer
Shining Knight
Guardian
