It's a Mary Sue in a series that is filling up with Mary Sues. Her sacrifice is "noble" and "powerful" while Finn's would have been "stupid" and "worthless" even though there are zero differences. She is a good leader because Leia says so even though everyone watching this nonsense knows that's complete bullshit (and in a way Destroy's Leia's character but everyone was more focused on the assassination of Luke's character) she is a character introduced out of no where and is used to replace Ackbar who didn't get a proper death, who was an interesting alien/creature character replaced by a whiny human woman.
tl;dr She replaced an interesting / beloved character leaving a bad taste in the audience mouth and then becomes an even shitier character.

Not gonna lie, user, I do hate the hair. But that's not enough reason to hate her. No, I hate her because she's a "no-weakness" self-insert by one of the (woman) producers. Self-inserts are stupid to the point of no return unless they are for the viewer to live vicariously through.
