World War 2 in Colour

Is this worth watching or is it just more Allied propaganda?

Netflix keeps shilling it to me.

fuck off to Sup Forums, its a documentary of the Second World War.

I just want to know if it's biased.

>is it just more Allied propaganda?
Maybe you should just stick to the delusional comforts of Sup Forums infographics and The Greatest Story Ever Told. Real, factually accurate documentaries are too full of inconvenient truths for your taste.

Well it's called World War 2 in color so you know they will portray all sides evenly and not have it be a black and white picture

Just watch it for the colours lad

>its a documentary of the Second World War
>films do not have personal agenda
Maybe you should be less of a brainlet?

>or is it just more Allied Propaganda?

You've already answered this question yourself with this post. This thread is a waste of fucking time.

Hitler lost Sup Forums. fucking deal with it.

How about you just fucking watch it and see for yourself?

We all lost

fuck off to Sup Forums

So if everything is so clear cut, whose side were the countries in the Baltics on?

No one. They fell under soviet influence and were left to rot.

They fought against the soviet influence, primarily using German arms and ammunition.
Germans also recruited many soldiers from these countries, who willingly went to fight for them against a the greater evil.

However, thanks to the allies, these countries were annexed by the USSR and raped for the next 70 years.

Let's ignore retard OP and make this a documentary thread

Why is World at War so fucking good? It's literally perfect

>watching historical documentary
>there's voice overs narrating eye witness accounts and diary entries every 10 seconds

Attached: DX1Zvub.jpg (297x400, 49K)

>willingly

lol k.

>he watches ww2 documentaries for the narrative and not for the invaluable historical footage
read a book you brainlet
Most documentaries that don't feature eyewitness accounts only give you the most basic understanding of history

They don't talk to any Soviets because muh cold war, right?
Haven't seen it yet but I'm going to

>By January 1944, the front was pushed back by the Red Army almost all the way to the former Estonian border. Narva was evacuated. Jüri Uluots, the last legitimate Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia (according to the constitution of Estonia) prior to its fall to the Soviet Union in 1940, delivered as a private citizen a radio address that implored all able-bodied men born from 1904 through 1923 to report for military service (Before this, Uluots had opposed Estonian mobilization.) The call drew support from all across the country: 38,000 Volunteers jammed registration centers. Several thousand Estonians who had joined the Finnish army came back across the Gulf of Finland to join the newly formed Territorial Defense Force, assigned to defend Estonia against the Soviet advance. It was hoped that by engaging in such a war Estonia would be able to attract Western support for the cause of Estonia's independence from the USSR and thus ultimately succeed in achieving independence.[7]

Some episodes are good and some are bad.

There's episodes that focus on the Eastern Front but most of the focus is on UK. (because it's a BBC production so they have a right for that, nothing against it).
I think the best episodes are the ones which are set either in occupied countries or are about German/Japanese home front. Those are literally God Tier.

Historical footage and eyewitness narration are completely separate things though. This post doesn't make any sense. Also, you're implying a documentary gives you more of an understanding of history than a book, which is bizarre.

>you're implying a documentary gives you more of an understanding of history than a book, which is bizarre.
Can you even read?

Fuck off idiot. That's clearly talking about after the Germans had been ousted and those that had left for Finland (because they didn't want to join the Germans) returned to fight the soviets.

If you want a documentary that shits on communists, there are a million of them out there that do so. If you want a documentary saying the germans were right, fuck off back to Sup Forums

Finland was on Germany's side and they fought the Soviets user

Finland was on it's own side moron. They lucked out that Germany didn't have the resources to invade them, and Germany lucked out that they hated the soviets.

I started watching it. first ep is interesting OP

You said I should read a book for just narratives. You then said documentaries without historical footage, which you've conflated with voice overs, are just for the narratives and thus if you're just in it for the narratives you're going to get only the most basic understanding of history. But you've made that point that books are just for narratives. So you implied that a documentary with voice overs gives you more of an understanding of history than a historical book.

I also like how you just completely forfeited the first point.

>0 posts answering OPs question
>300 bitching about Sup Forums
Maybe reddit is more your speed goys

I've seen it myself, is it the one with 13 EPs?
It was solid but I remember it had some incorrect narrative, can't remember the specifics, but it's nothing that major, just something someone interested in WW2 might pick upon. It's worth watching just for the footage alone.

Hey, I answered it.

>op starts a thread with Sup Forums bait
>thread devolves into Sup Forumsshit

shocking

I don't know how you got that from what I said but ok.
I'll try again
Documentaries are good for seeing first hand historical footage and interviews from eyewitnesses
Books are good for narrative that helps with critical understanding of events

Understand?

Thought it was pretty good. The story about the Thunderbolt pilot that killed so many Germans retreating from the Falaise Gap his trigger fringer froze hit me fucking hard. Can you imagine that? You've killed so many fucking people that subconsciously your brain stops you from continuing.

No, it straight up just tells you what was going on and what happened. It's honestly great.

Estonians left to Finland to fight against the Soviets, because they did not want to join the Germans. Those Estonians that joined the Germans, did so only to fight the Soviets, when it became apparent that the Germans would not be able to ward off the Soviets towards the end of the war.

>Germans
>People

His finger was probably cramped

So the Russians eye the bad guys all along

epic XD

I just laid out for you in plain English how you implied that.
>Documentaries are good for seeing first hand historical footage...
I literally never said anything to the contrary of this at any time but you've been using it as a point the whole time.
>...and interviews from eyewitnesses
One could deduce that be me saying that they put these in "every 10 seconds" that my problem is with the quantity of the voice overs, which by the way is completely different from an interview which is another thing I never brought up, not the presence of any voice overs at all.

There is no such thing as ''Allied propaganda'' in history, at least not in 2018.
WW2 has been researched so much we pretty much know almost everything. Furthermore, it's something that happened 70 years ago, not 7 centuries ago, and it involved millions of people.

If you don't want to read actual books, that's fine, but stop being a deluded retard who thinks Sup Forums can educate him about WW2.

this site is 18+ you know, reported

No one ever said otherwise.

white boi mad

The only WW2 doc I really like is Soviet Storm. It’s about Russia beating the shit out of Germany and Japan. It’s on YouTube.

I mean, what kind of twisted logic is that?
Thousands of actual historians are all deluded or lying, but some high-school retards and semi-literate basement dwelling NEETs on Bhutanese archery forum know better?
Do you people ever stop and think how retarded you look?

Announcing reports is a bannable offense, reported

Everyone who gets a book published is in the system of academia and the publishing houses to be completely honest
Not saying that's what I believe but that's how the argument would go

>he thinks i actually reported
you're a faggot

Hey I spent 15 minutes on this ms paint chart, I think I know a fact or two

For what? Germans are subhuman trash

test

>he thinks I did
boy sit down

based test poster

We might know everything. But we certainly don't tell everything.

Not the jews.

Yes. But we are talking about dozens of institutions, dozens of countries, thousands of historians.
We are talking about wealth of primary sources and material evidence.
We are talking about an event that affected entire Europe and huge areas of the globe.
There are actually mathematical models that show how retarded are conspiracy theories. You can't really pull off something like that, and keep it contained for decades.
Once you accept a premise like that, you might as well be honest and start questioning whether Roman Empire existed. There's far more direct evidence for some WW2 events than for the existence of Roman Empire.

The fact that the event is so recent is more an argument for why unbiased history is impossible to be quite honest
Had Irving written about how Carthage was in the right during the Punic wars or whatever nobody would give a shit and he certainly would not have gone on trial

Give it a hundred years for proper documentaries to arrive

They reuse footage alot, not in the same episode, but usually the next episode will have alot of scenes from the last episode.

Refer to Especially the part about conspiracy theories.
Trust me, if you're one of these guys, your problem is that you don't even know basic course of events.
If you spent some time reading actual history, and if you knew basics, you'd understand how some of the claims made on Sup Forums are utterly retarded.
Like 90% of people there who defend Hitler literally don't know that Churchill wasn't the prime minister in 1939.
90% also don't know that for example Danzig wasn't part of Poland, and that Danzig was a city-state under international protection and ruled by local Nazis during most of 30's.
90% don't know that Hitler for example occupied entire Czechoslovakia few months after he got German-majority areas, even though he promised it's the end of his territorial demands.
I mean, these are some basic facts, yet majority of people who sperg out about Hitler on Sup Forums don't know them.
It's like someone who can't add two numbers trying to discuss advanced mathematics.

>Yes. But we are talking about dozens of institutions, dozens of countries, thousands of historians.
Winning countries. Enemies of the Third Reich.
>We are talking about wealth of primary sources and material evidence.
Such as?
>We are talking about an event that affected entire Europe and huge areas of the globe.
Huh?
>There are actually mathematical models that show how retarded are conspiracy theories.
Really? Because the whole idea of burning bodies under 15 minutes and the German Krema's working for 24/7 and burnign 5,000 bodies a day is entirely possible in your fictional little head of yours? Okay. Oh, did I mention the missing bodies, absolutely no forensic evidence of gas chambers, no physical evidence of any mass graves at said locations.
>Once you accept a premise like that, you might as well be honest and start questioning whether Roman Empire existed.
There's FAR more evidence for the Roman Empire than there is for the holohoax.

The holohoax is NOTHING, and I really mean *NOTHING* more than a bunch of (((witnesses))) giving varied accounts on what happened - some that have been now confirmed as false, others still hold true. But at the end of the day - there are just witnesses
