This is why I can't stand the TASfags. Teen Titans still doesn't have a Blu-ray release even though it was made in HD, nor any soundtrack!

You can't stand a fan base because a series you like didn't get released in a format you want? You're are a complete braindead retard

There has to be some really special shit for me to buy the series again.

I really hope this isn't a Sword in the Stone style "remaster." How has it been stored, anyway?

>infinitely more popular and more influential show gets a BD release first
I liked Teen Titans too, but BTAS was a way bigger deal than Teen Titans ever was.

Now if something like Zeta got a BD release instead, then I'd be irritated.

Yea and there's still no good version of Powerpuff Girls or Superman TAS that doesn't have shit-tier dual-sided DVDs but that's no reason to take it out on a perfectly good show.

>remaster
That defeats what made TAS so unique in the first place. It was drawn on black paper and looked gritty as shit.

This is why I can't stand TTfags. Shitting on a show that's better than yours ever was.

Also The Batman was made in HD, probably a more relevant comparison actually. (Though I doubt anyone actually wants *that* OST.)

So HDTV can't look gritty?

It was a bigger deal because of the 80s artstyle.
The actual show was not even close to TT quality.

There are two things you really need to know:

1.) BTAS was far more culturally relevant to the broader mainstream acceptance of non-comic superhero media than Teen Titans ever was.

2.) This release being successful might convince Warner Bros. that a market for physical releases of their old shows still exists - which could lead to a BD release of Teen Titans.

I don't feel like giving WB a single cent of my money after they decided not to release Duck Dodgers season 3 in any form whatsoever for so many years.

Nobody cares.

Well they did finally bring out BatB season 3 and they've released all of JL/JLU on bluray as well, so they know there's a market for it already. I still need to get BatB and finish that off since I got the S1/S2 sets but I did dutifully pick up all of JL/JLU.

That... may actually be the problem, user.

Nonono, it's not that nobody cares about Duck Dodgers.

It's that nobody cares about your high-and-mighty boycott of WB over your favorite show not getting a DVD. Disney didn't put out the second half of Season Two of Gargoyles for years, but I didn't bitch about that to anyone within earshot.

Maybe if you had, it might have reached the right person's attention and got it out that much sooner.

Remastered, in general, means that it's transferred from the original film stock to a higher resolution. Not necessarily that it has been touched up in Lucas sense of the word, and frankly, I'd doubt that they would put the money up for it. Didn't they half-ass the recent Mask of the Phantasm bluray?

Or maybe people would just think user is just acting like a child.

Shitloads of people complained about Disney not releasing that set. It did absolutely nothing to make Disney release it any faster.

What makes you think your whining to WB would produce any better results?

>Didn't they half-ass the recent Mask of the Phantasm bluray?

They did? Fuck, and I was looking forward to picking that up one day.

Awesome!

So the alternative is to just give up the cause?
Many other people thought like you though, user.

Don't take me at my word. I haven't seen it. I just seem to remember hearing something about it, but I could be wrong. I think iFanboy talked a bit about on their podcast.

Baby Doll crying in HD!

>It was a bigger deal because of the 80s artstyle.

You fucking cretin, BTAS was groundbreaking in that it broke away completely from the 80's artstyle. Bruce timm's streamlining of design for action cartoons paved the way for the more dynamically stylized action cartoons afterwords, including the horrendous art school dropout anime style of teen Titans.

>So the alternative is to just give up the cause?

The alternative is to stop whining like a little baby and do something productive that proves a market exists for this thing you want -- and WB would make good money by making this thing you want and selling it to that market. Whining on Sup Forums about how your favorite show didn't get a DVD release means -- and accomplishes -- nothing.

Fantastic news.

The recent MOTP Bluray was a godsend and was done really well. I imagine the gangbusters it sold was a big factor is getting the series approved.

I'm curious if they are just going to be doing the original art-style episodes or if they will include TNBA.

Hopefully it's the entire run. Also, if it does well then Superman TAS and Batman Beyond are highly likely. We could be looking at the entire DCAU in HD.

Let's check the comparison:

>including the horrendous art school dropout anime style of teen Titans.
What? TT took anime style and improved upon it.

>nor any soundtrack!

They cancelled plans for all non-BTAS soundtracks because those were the only ones that actually sold.

>A show that was fun but relatively meh vs what is considered one of the top animated programs ever created.

While I hope to see TT eventually, but this is a big deal. Especially since it means WB will have to go back to the original negatives and do substantial clean up.

It will be great to finally get "Almost Got 'Em" without the bug crawling through the frame in the latter half of the episode.

>A show that was fun but relatively meh vs what is considered one of the top animated programs ever created.
So... B:TAS vs. TT, from an objective point of view?

What's the bigger cancer, DCAUfags or Toon Titansfags?

BTAS is the latter, TT is the former. TT was a good show as a whole, but it was nowhere near as good -- or as culturally relevant -- as BTAS. If anything, BTAS and the resulting DCAU grew the acceptance of non-comic superhero media amongst mainstream audiences; TT cannot lay claim to a similar lasting effect.

>It will be great to finally get "Almost Got 'Em" without the bug crawling through the frame in the latter half of the episode.

This is actually a great point. A lot of the episodes currently have really dated teleclines with a LOT of analog artifacts.

Getting even a new basic 2k scan is going to look like a complete revelation.

Christ, imagine what That Clayface Scene will look like.

>Getting even a new basic 2k scan is going to look like a complete revelation.

Is this even possible? Timm and others have said many times they had to work small miracles in the editing room when they got back bad footage.

Hopefully the negatives were cut to match the final episodes and/or they really documented the hell out of what they did in the editing room back in the day.

>If anything, BTAS and the resulting DCAU grew the acceptance of non-comic superhero media amongst mainstream audiences; TT cannot lay claim to a similar lasting effect.
But this has nothing to do with their quality.

TT is a far better show, but B:TAS captures the nostalgic feel of old-time cartoons very well.

>TT is a far better show

No. No, it is not. And I say that as a fan of both BTAS and TT. Both good shows; Batman is better.

Final cut negatives DO exist. This was confirmed by Dini a few years ago.

As long as WB archived the film appropriately then they will be able to get a good scan of the elements.

Huh. Looks fine to me.

TTfags by a mile.

>It will be great to finally get "Almost Got 'Em" without the bug crawling through the frame in the latter half of the episode.
What? Where exactly does this happen?

I really want them to go all out on this.

New features and audio commentaries for a ton more episodes. It's a huge shame just how many big episodes from the series got passed over for commentaries during the DVD release back in 05.

About halfway through the episode. It obvious a small insect landed on the equipment and is slowly moving around through the rest of the episode.

Look for the black spot that crawls at the bottom of the picture.

>TT is a far better show
Jesus Christ

Because it was shit. Even Go! is better.

I'm actually triggered for you thinking that TT was better than BTAS.

>TT is a far better show

Odd, they've been saying for awhile that the original cels/negatives or whatever are lost or damaged so they couldn't do a Blu-ray that was anything more than just cropping the existing footage.

I wonder if this is going to be a genuine restoration or a cheap hack job done for a quick buck.

Fuck ya!!!! Day one, this makes me so so happy.

the original cels weren't saved, and the episodes weren't shot to film but VHS

So how is this going to happen? Their only option is to digitally blow up the DVD transfer to HD

In other words, it's GUARANTEED to look like shit

>But this has nothing to do with their quality.

It does, however, have a lot to do with their marketability toward a broad audience. More people would be willing to buy a BTAS BD set than would be willing to buy a TT BD set; whether you consider that fair matters not.

You're right. But that just goes to show you how retarded the (American) market is.

Batman TAS get Blu-ray because it´s a masterpiece, TT it´s a piece of shit and people only remember because TGO

Why, because a great show with an enduring legacy is getting a proper HD release while a good show that was mildly popular and had little-to-no lasting legacy beyond its own existence is not?

Nice, I hope they know what to do next

Fuck off. Holy shit, TTfags are absolutely disgusting. Batman TAS is a total masterpiece compared to your mediocre teen drama show

ToonTitansfags, they’re show is just good at best and they act as if it’s a masterpiece

It's going to be some shitty upscale. Timm has confirmed on multiple occasions that it was only scanned in sd and the original cells are either lost or damaged.
