Went to see that movie that we can't mention on Sup Forums and before they aired a short for Hanazuki: Full of Treasures. I thought the short was ok is the show any good?

It is very cute but to fast paced, suffers greatly from it's time restrictions and makes it seem claustrophobic, it is not as expansive as the mare show, think about it as something like a fast-paced ruby gloom.

Yeh

what was the short about?

>That hanazuki chick is sliding down some rainbow river thing.
>The little yellow thing wants to go down with her.
>They get a gem/diamond thing, yellow guy runs off with it.
>Goes into cave, turns out it’s a monster
>almost fall in lava, monster thing saves the two of them.
>Yellow guy gets to slide down rainbow river thing at end.
I kinda thought it was cute how those little things acted.

You will enjoy the series, it's mostly like that but it has some story and you get to see more of those little things

Is the MLP Movie worth seeing for non-bronies?

Really happy that the short is getting people interested in Hanazuki.
I think the show is great. Hits a sweet spot between painfully cute and entertaining. Despite looking childish, it's really pretty competent and rarely talks down to the viewer.

I say give it a shot. It's all on youtube, free. Start from the beginning, the show follows a continuity.

Fucking hell no.
As someone who saw it, I can safely say that it was a travesty equivalent to the Holocaust and my experience watching it was just as miserable.
Not a single moment went by where I didn't want to rip people's faces off their heads.
To quote Roger Ebert's "North" review: "I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it."
I was going to suggest burning everyone involved to death, but the movie actually considers this to be a very light and child-friendly punishment.
Instead, I ask that Adolf Hitler rises from the grave to bring back the death camps where they will put every single piece of human garbage that worked on this excuse of a film and every single childless adult male who likes and will defend it into the gas chambers.
Make them know that they have defiled the definition of the term "film" and all of its synonyms.
Make them know that they were collectively responsible for one of the worst things to plague human existence.
Make them know that this mistake will not happen again.

Is this pasta or are you actually this autistic?

I've seen the first episode. The design and colours were the best part to me.

It reminds me of 90s animated movies. Lots of musical numbers, an evil world-domination guy, a globetrotting adventure that forces the heroes beyond the bright safety of home. If you can't get past the pastel bits, it might make you gag in places, but otherwise it's oddly nostalgic.

I liked it quite a bit.

It feels like it was missing a cinematic quality, not in how it looked but in the story. The whole thing felt like a giant episode that, while serviceable, lacked scenes to push the story scope. Even Spongebob had better structure in comparison for its first movie, nothing felt rushed or tacked on in that. If they cut one of the mostly useless story elements (the pirates) and used more time to develop the other beats or even the characters I think it could have been really great instead of being okay.

...

It won't win best picture but it's in my top 10 for the year.

Songs were god tier though. Are the songs in the show that good

>Are the songs in the show that good
The songs in the movie were written by the same composer that does the show songs
they're all uploaded on youtube, if you just search [show name] song, perhaps with a season number (1-7) you'll see a wide range of examples

so uh speaking of the short, did anyone manage to record it

Not enough

well i'm sorry thats all of it

The plot is generic, but if you like animated musicals you will propably love the movie.

It was nicely animated and with good songs, but the plot is a mess.

Nah, and barely worth a watch even if you like the show to begin with. It's just a big cliche from start to end, which could be forgiven if it was funny or gave itself more time to explain certain things, but it does not.

I thought people were joking when they said it was a theater release, it just feels like a bad TV movie.

where is the smug hana

This one?

As a dare or if you have nothing else to watch. A lot of the bad press I've heard from non-brony critics is not getting over the absurdness of it. Otherwise its mediocre.

I mean someone who isn’t a fan of the source material probably won’t enjoy this. But if you go in with an open mind and like animation, you might like it

...

No, I can guarantee there's more.

How has this not been deleted yet?

These two are inseparable!

Why would it be?

Because it's been six fucking years and people are still assmad over a bunch of cartoon characters. Have you ever thought how ridiculous it is that Sup Forums has literal child pornography threads every single day and nobody bats an eye, yet you post even a solid colour resembling a character from that show and you get banned for a week?

Yeah i got to agree with ya on that, but the Sup Forumsumblr mods will never lift that rule

I liked it, the poners leave their country for the first time, and learn outside of their country people are different, and you should never trust people that are different than you, because they just want to steal from you or rip you off.

The movie was sort of fast paced, the poners act out of character a few times, (like the purple one trying to trick people so she can steal from them)

I'd give it a 7/10, there were too many songs, and they all went on for too long.

Since nobody cared enough to record the short, I think I might just have go see the movie for myself.

It's a Sup Forums approved, anti-globalist plot.

I think teaching children they shouldn't trust people that don't look like them is a good idea, I wish the movie had done better.

Not to mention in the movie they use the word "kind" and imply that those of the same kind should stick together and not work for others who aren't like them, as they won't care for what they want or need. Definitely a good anti-globalist movie, similar to Angry Birds in that regard.

It's ok to steal from people that aren't like you. Even if they are being friendly towards you /trying to help you.

The princess of friendship agrees,
And if your friends try to make you feel bad for stealing, you don't need those kinds of friends.

That's basically the moral of the movie. Was not expecting it.

This is how people are in IBs really, they can handle infinite anime posting yet I made a bannable offense to post ruby gloom images on a small wizchan, just because I posted them to often, but they were relevant to my posts.

I think people in general like more the slice of life things in MLP, but I liked how large they made seem their world outside equestria in the movie, also the story was very straight forward to me it was just fast paced, reminded me of Moana but with much more characters.

The critique its getting is just because people hate the whole concept and the 2D visuals, reminds me of how shocked I was when I discovered how hated the Pokemon first movie was when as a kid it was cool as ice to me.

I wanna watch the short but I don't really want to spend £6 on a cinema ticket for the horse movie because: 1. I'm a cheap bastard, 2. I don't want to watch the horse movie anyways

has anyone got a decent potatoe cam recoridng of it yet?

There's one 5 posts above you, user.

oh right, missed that I'm a dunce, thanks for pointing that out

thanks for sharing user

>the poners leave their country for the first time, and learn outside of their country people are different, and you should never trust people that are different than you, because they just want to steal from you or rip you off
There's also the lesson that seeking help from an isolationist nation is impossible because they won't care about your people or their welfare as long as they are safe.

>ITT: user fails to understand the morals in a children's movie
It's about not letting the cold cynicism of the real world grind down your morals and idealism. Just because you keep running into self-serving assholes, doesn't mean you should become one, and hopefully you'll lead by example.

Everything animates so smoothly I hope season 2 is like this.

Same but I doubt it unless they give titmouse more time to animate

what do you know, hanazuki being played before the mlp movie

The animation is done overseas. Titmouse is only involved in production and design.

It'll never look even half that good unless production moves in-house. The series is animated in Taiwan or something with storyboards and some keys from Titmouse proper, but the short was as far as I'm aware pure Titmouse handiwork, and it shows. They don't fuck around.

They probably also had more money put into the short than an entire episode of the show.

The plot was kinda rushed (apparently they had to cut out shit from the movie, which is why two characters don't befriend any newcomers and thus look kind of useless), but it was entirely fine.

Dunno how much someone who has never seen the show will understand it, though. I suppose they'll get most of the plot if they pay attention, but I'm a faggot who watched the show so I may be biased.

The main villain, the Storm King, really needed more screentime to make an impact.

Songs were good too, they give off a Disney vibe.

Overall a 7.5/10-ish movie. If it interests you I'd say go watch it.

>like the purple one trying to trick people so she can steal from them
That was a fucking mess tbqh

>Can't bring herself to steal something that already belongs to her in the EQG movie
>Here she tries to steal something that is obviously very precious to Queen Novo, then gets angry when her friends call her out

>black bar

It's kind of weird, because while in-world the storm king is the "main" villain, from a narrative perspective edgehorse is undoubtedly the primary villain

It's kind of like the main reason storm king is even in the movie is so they could kill off a villain while the other gets a redemption

But I agree that since he's in the movie, they really should have put a bit more effort into establishing him as a direct threat

How long must we hide small equine discussion on stealth threads? I don't want to go back to /mlp/, their autism is too strong and they barely even discuss the show.

Seeing how everyone acted outside of her country, she learnt that in this non-equine world the ends justified the means. She was just adapting the philosophy of the world she was put in, which at that point seemed to be the only way to make any progress. The human world was different in that regard because people didn't act that way and she was offered a clear way to get her crown back civilly

And the reason she got mad at her friends was because up to that point they had been doing nothing but fuck everything up - they all trusted the cat when she was rightfully skeptical, the pink one drew attention to them which got them in trouble, the rainbow one gave away their location for no reason because she got too excited, etc. At all of this points they explicitly show the purple one getting frustrated or otherwise disproving of what the rest are doing, so the fact that it culminated in a fight when things hit a breaking point is perfectly natural and in-character

Have there been any explicitly negative reviews of the movie that didn't involve the reviewer being unable to get past the franchise stigma and pastel colors to the extent where they didn't even try to pay attention?

Forever. The problem isn't so much the ponyfags anymore as it is the people who hate them and ruin threads that could otherwise encourage a legitimate and intelligent discussion by going "爹又福清巴尼发个" just because an image is somehow linked to a ponyfag website.

Don't remind me. You can't even mention the show without some faggot posting Barneyfag shit.

Your autism will never escape your containment board, no matter how bad the current mods and jannies are.
Also reported.

Oh I didn't know that
I thought some of the eps after Ep. 1 looked pretty tacky at times and there's a few animation errors as well

Hey fuck you man, do you know how hard it is to like the show but not be autistic enough to enjoy the containment board?

I just want to talk about the miniature horses, but all those autists care about is waifufaggotry or their shitty AU threads.

>STILL being this butthurt about the existence of horse cartoon

It's been running for 7 years, autist. Maybe it's time to calm the fuck down about this.

Hard to say since I'm biased, but I figure if you like old school Disney, or at the worst latter-day Don Bluth movies, you might get some enjoyment out of it.

It's very reminiscent of 90s disney/dreamworks movies in tone and style, but you need to be able to get past all the cutesy pastel colors which is a step too much for some

It was basically a Vader/Palpatine thing. The imposing, no-nonsense second-in-command who eventually reforms, and the "big picture" overlord who gets thrown off a ledge and murdered by his former subordinate.

There's a general for this very movie. Like, I have it open right now. And the related Tempest Shadow thread has yet to devolve into too much waifufaggotry.

God I hope want to stretch her asshole.

Please don't ruin Hanazuki with this shit. These threads have a hard enough time staying alive without getting reported for off-topic posting.

Reading the reviews I'm starting to think I missed something important about Wreck-It-Ralph's 2nd act with the candyland.

What was the Hanazuki short even about?

Yeah. Some of the Titmouse folks even acknowledge the errors. Ain't their fault the people overseas don't take 10 minutes to look for an error as big as a character fucking disappearing.

See for yourself.

Didn't they make fun of some errors

I really like this day aria. Reminds me of fir the first time in forever.

That one's always stood out to me too desu

Yep. Brian Ellis in particular liked poking fun at them.

Wait a minute, is this on autosage just because it mentioned MLP, and technically not even that, or is it just me?
How does mentioning the very thing it was paired with warranting that?

rule 1: questioning Sup Forums mods is futile
just be glad lee didn't show up
next time I'd suggest not even mentioning the movie in the OP if you want a pure hanazuki thread

Got it.
