I actually really liked admiral Holdo in the book, and I love laura dern as an actress, so how in gods name did they manage to fuck up Holdo's character so bad in the new star wars movie?
Not a joke post I am genuinely curious.

You paid to read a goddamn Nu Wars book? You have bigger problems to worry about than Holdo, friend.
There's a thing called google where you can find any piece of writing for free my friend
The book was interesting. It talked about her back story and how (as a non-conforming woman) she was constantly belittled and passed over by men. It talks about how in one instance a white cis male who was promoted over her actually was the one who ended up getting Alderan destroyed. It really helped flesh out why she was the way she was in the movie.
The movie left out all of her back story and struggles dealing with being a strong empowered woman in a male world.
NO ONE FUCKING CARES ABOUT STAR WARS. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT.
FUCK OFF. STOP. STOP. NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT STAR WARS. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT YOU ENORMOUS FUCKING FAGGOT.
KILL YOURSELF
Does she have a black husband to empower her white vagina?
>who ended up getting Alderan destroyed
It was a surprise attack. How?????
>The movie left out all of her back story and struggles dealing with being a strong empowered woman in a male world.
They are in space so this should not be an issue.
this but calmer
The book expands on the initial attack of Alderaan. It turns out that cadet Holdo was following the orders of her male superior who ignored the space station approaching. When Holdo mentioned it might be a new super weapon "with the ability to destroy an entire planet" she was thrown into the brig for trying to take over the bridge. After the destruction of Alderaan Holdo was promoted to Captain and quickly escalated up the ranks with the help of her friend (and one time lover) Leia.
why is her hair purple
Because the writers are sociopaths that genuinely don’t grasp the concept of empathy.
They honestly don’t see why people think she’s an awful person.
That’s fuckin stupid.
wow.. women are actually soooooo superior to men... of course it was men, men always fuck up and belittle others!
Jesus Christ.
This is like a black hole where quality writing goes to die.
coloring your hair automatically makes you unique and interesting AND signals your uniqueness to others, you silly cis scum male >.
Because they intentionally make her abrasive and standoffish with the intention of making her redeemed and show you "not all women who act like cunts are bad people"
But the problem is she never becomes likeable and her redeeming action is abrupt and doesn't really make any sense.
Basically the character doesn't ever achieve likability and is forced in every way possible.
what?
even if the man took her advice and reacted to the deathstar its not like anyone on alderaan could have done anything to stop it. or even had the time to evacuate the planet.
She did nothing wrong.
Why the fuck should a general explain to a captain what her plan is, if he is not involved in the execution?
Pink hair and dress is stupid as well as she only later realized FTL kill. Other than that 9/10 general, would follow orders.
That's only because they took out all her characterization!!!
In the novel it describes how she felt watching the pods be destroyed, reflecting on her career and how she had tried her hardest to make the resistance accepting of all species, identities and genders. Her last freaking moments were spent thinking about the new group of women she had to carry on her legacy!!!
The movie had NONE of that so instead she just looked like a bitch.
lol

I love how easy you idiots are to trick

She's not even fucking from Alderaan you retards.
That would make her old as fuck
She's barely 40 in TLJ
She didn't have to explain it to the captain but what about literally anyone else in her crew? Literally, anybody. Someone else should have known. At the very least she should have recalculated her secrecy once the mutiny started. A good general does not allow a mutiny to happen.

Did you even read the novel ? It talks about how she was the youngest person ever to be accepted into the resistance because of her incredible scores and unique and clever approaches to solving problems.
Maybe try reading the novels first?
Do you really want to tell people where Holdo actually comes from, user?
Do you really think that’s a good idea?
GET DEEZ MOTHAFUCKIN PORGS AND FLYBOIS OUTTA MY PUSS- I MEAN SHIP!
