Was Walt a sociopath?

Was Walt a sociopath?

No, he was Walt.

He was narcissistic, prideful, and had a raging inferiority complex, but nowhere near a sociopath. All of the really bad shit he did was merely out of self-preservation, usually against other criminals.

despite all the posturing about Walt "turning into Scarface" by the end, he really didn't do anything THAT evil

spbp

Scarface wasn't that evil by the end either

He felt like he didn't fufill his potential in his career and love life. Married some broad and moved to the suburbs.

>by the end, he really didn't do anything THAT evil
I side with Hanks character on this one. Ordering the murder of 10 people who were not really violent criminals, more just looking the other way and taking a cut is pretty fucking evil.

>not really violent criminals
They were assisting in the running of a multimillion meth operation that ruined a countless amount of lives. They deserved to die.

>when you realize Ozymandias is Walt's Hermanos and Felina is Walt's Salud

Walt only killed them so they wouldn't rat

Yes, but their deaths weren't a loss for society.

But then Walt would be evil by that argument since he’s the one running the whole thing

I'm not disputing that Walt was evil, I'm saying that
>he really didn't do anything THAT evil
He was just as bad as them, but he wasn't a sociopath.

Hank was honestly the morally best character in the show. I can't think of a character that was in more than like 3 episodes that was more "evil" than him.

you literally cannot argue any of walt's actions being unjustified besides getting into the drug business in the first place and poisoning Brock.

Killing Mike?

That moment always stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Just seemed really out of character for Walt.

Honestly poisoning Brock wasn't that bad, I assume Lily of the Valley isn't that lethal if kids eat it all the time according to the show, and I trust Walt knew what he was doing to not kill Brock. In the end it helped more than it hurt, and it really didn't hurt anyone.

they wanted to kill off Mike but they couldn’t figure out a natural way for it to happen

At first I thought he did it as an impulsive act. But why would he take Mike's gun away unless he was planning to kill him from the start?

>turning into Scarface
Who said this? Even at the height of his powers he was a mild mannered khaki wearing frail and old asexual bastard.

Yeah, Walt is smart and knew exactly how much to give him. Brock wasn't in any danger at all.

Separate topic about Breaking Bad that I've thought about a lot. Montages are a massive part of the show, the cooking montages and the prison killing montage are some of the best scene in the entire series.

Did anyone else notice that season 4 had like zero of them though? They barely even cooked throughout the entire season, then in season 5 they jumped right back on with some awesome ones and it made them even better. Anyone else notice something like this?

"I originally pitched it to the studio with one line," says Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad. "I told them: 'This is a story about a man who transforms himself from Mr Chips into Scarface."

Only the creator of the show

Yea, when he pitched it. The show definitely changed a shit ton since then, and I bet he didn't even have it planned out to the full end at that point.

Well he was nothing like Scarface. Walt barely smoked weed and he didn't even fire the gun that took out the nazis. Honestly thinking about it Walt was never evil, he had some crazy moments like any normal person

Season 4 had the montage of Mike driving Jesse to pick up dead drops, but besides that, I think Season 4 didn't have much montages because it focused more on the rising tension between Walt and Gus. The first 9 or so episodes of the season focus on Walt losing favor with Jesse and Walt, and the last 5 focus on the direct conflict between Walt and Gus. There wasn't much time to add in any montages besides the Mike and Jesse one, which served as character development.

I misinterpreted your statement, sorry.
I agree. At the height of his power, Walt depended on mercenaries to do his work for him. He never had a loyal gang or organization made up of people he could trust, like Gus.

DAMMIT MARIE

Why was Walt so asexual? He was the biggest drug lord in the WORLD, even if he remained anonymous he could have gotten 10/10 whores every night. Does cancer make your dick limp?

he still loved skylor

He was a family man

it would have broken walt jr.'s heart

I’ve been watching this show again with my dad and I resent the fuck out of Walt the second time around. I don’t understand the stupid Heisenberg fanboys this show generated

>Why in God's name would I fuck a child?

I had the same experience I think. The second time I watched it I was shocked at how obvious it actually was that Walt was a miserable petty piece of shit from the very first episode and the only thing that really changes is over time he gets more and more full of himself.

>Hank
>morally best character

You mean the same guy that beat up an unarmed non-threatening guy in a complete rage after the fake out call of his wife being in the hospital?

Yeah... No. He was just a jackass that wanted to catch a huge perp in order to make a name of himself. He didn't even care that capturing Walt was gonna fracture the family.

truly a zero-sum game when it comes to rooting for any character, bravo vince

i root for wendy

>asexual
Walt was a horny bastard

Imagine being this retarded. Hank knew, like Walt, that his career was over as soon as he came forth with allegations about Walt. He wouldn't have a "name to make for himself" once he came forth, so Hank wanted to make absolutely sure he had proof. As for beating up Jesse, yeah it was fucked up but how could he know Jesse wasn't in a position to hurt Marie?

What the fuck are you talking about? He started out doing everything for his family and he kept telling himself that end the end when the only reason he was still going was for pride. I just rewatched this shit. He could have gotten out of the business several times but in one instance didn't want jesse using his formula.

>He didn't even care that capturing Walt was gonna fracture the family.
Maybe he cared less about making a name for himself, and more about the fact that Walt was responsible for a number of crimes that grated Hank's sense of justice.

best character coming through

BASED gomie

He is Enberg.

purest character next to walt jr.

I felt bad for him

needless death at the end

>That "Fly" speech
>I've lived too long
Absolute KINO

thats the point
its realistic user. life if shit and people are scum

Killing a murderer still makes you a murderer especially considering he did it to save his own ass and not out of the goodness of his heart.

Yeah, but it was justified. He had a reason for doing it.

This.
Holy fuck that user is a brainlet just like the rest of the fanbase.

Not an argument.

What is your argument lol? He killed them to keep them from talking which, according to you, made it justified? Lol you can justify any murder by your stupid fucking "reasoning."

Yeah, I guess I can faggot.

Reminder that this show was originally going to be a lot cooler and the original premise was going to be to show how someone like Walt is just one bad guy in a world of bad people all judging others as bad. Marie stealing, Hank being racist and a stereotypical dickhead cop, Skylar eventually smoking while pregnant and cheating on Walt, etc. etc. Unfortunately people started getting WAY too into Walt and treating him as an icon of the downtrodden, disillusioned, underpaid, and underappreciated of which there are a fuckload of in America complete with people literally turning to professional crime and manufacturing meth and dyeing it blue, so Vince had to come out and start playing enormous damage control on the series and took the show in a less ambiguous direction.

>this isnt fake

>le brainlet meme

Should have ended with Hank not with some literally who nazi biker cucks.

Also Skyler did nothing wrong.

he was histrionic.

>skyler did nothing wrong
>who is Ted

>Also Skyler did nothing wrong.
so cheating is okay?

That was all because of Cranston's charisma

He hated himself for letting his emotions fuck up what could have been a wealthy, happy future at the pharmaceutical company with his college friends. All the drug stuff was him just rediscovering the ambition of his youth.
