If Lex Luthor, the canonically smartest man on Earth, isn't able to defeat Superman, then why would Batman, who arguably has the same amount of resources with less smarts, be able to defeat Superman?

He's the goddamn Batman.

Bats knows him better.

Kryptonite ring that Superman trusted him with.

Kryptonite gloves.

Kryptonite dildo and anal beads.

He has something Lex Luthor doesn't.

Superman's trust

Batman is more gooder than lexy.

Plot armor > Intelligence

The only plausible explanation I can think of is that he's way more familiar with Clark and knows exactly how he functions and what his flaws and weaknesses are, which Lex doesn't.

Because a fight isn't just "whose INT and STR are higher"

I mean, intelligence is expressed in a variety of different ways. Business or technological genius doesn't necessarily mean you're also an unparalleled expert at, say, military tactics or detective work.

Of course, in comics, genius just means "can do whatever they feel like", but still.

Also, Batman is more familiar with Superman, knows him personally, spends every waking moment, etc. Lex Luthor doesn't have all of those luxuries.

Thread

Batman is more intelligent than Luthor. Ofc Luthor achieves more "impressive" things than Batman. But its easier when you have evil goal. Also he doen't spend 90% of his time chasing some stupid clowns.

Yeah. Its all about who has the most stuff. That's why superman always wins because of how much stuff he can do.

Batman is a close and trusted friend, knows most if not all of Superman's secrets and weaknesses and was even entrusted with kryptonite by Superman himself incase he ever goes rouge.

This. People neglect the will power.

BATMAN'S LEX LUTHOR CONFIRMED

What have you done user

Superman doesn't win any more often than any other protagonist in history.

You can't measure intelligence, retard.

The things Batman knows are more useful than the things Luthor knows for subjugating Superman, even if he knows fewer things overall.

Marvel does that all the time.

I mean, DC does to. It just happens to be limited to Colu.

Superman holds back against Batman.

Mental fortitude, inhuman willpower, obsessive drive, street smarts, - Batman has those over Luthor.
There's also the matter of application. Luthor may come up with a grander plan but Batman will execute his plan better due to more actual experience on the field.

Batman knows more about Superman, his capabilities, and has probably helped Superman set up training programs and etc to help Superman try out new things.

If Lex had half the insider knowledge Batman has he would be a lot more threatening on Superman.

Question for the crowd: If Luthor is the genius, the most intelligent man on Earth, why he don't figured Superman identity yet? And don't come with "durr hurr why superman would need a secret/civil identity" reasoning for Luthor. That's make no fucking sense. He would know the secret identity of everybody and their mothers.

Clark is less willing to fight him.

Because he doesn't think (and don't accept) that Superman lives among us as a human.

If Reed Richards is so intelligent, why he hasn't cured cancer yet?

He got handed Superman's secret identity on a silver platter once and refused to believe it.

He's incapable of believing that a man with as much power as Superman would be willing to live life as a milquetoast like Clark Kent.

The canon explanation tends to be that Lex can't comprehend that someone with that kind of power would chose to hide it for any reason, or that a being like Superman would want to live a normal life. If Lex was a god he wouldn't hide it, so why would anyone else? It also messes with him "Superman sees himself as better than us" mantra. So Lex ignores anything that points towards Superman having a secret identity, because it allows his narcissistic world view to remain as it is.

Lex Luthor has a victim complex an sabotages himself unconsciously so he can continue to lean on the crutch of blaming all his problems on magic krypton man. Batman on the other hand would just be trying to save the world most likely and wouldn't have any similar reason to self-sabotage.
Why would you assume Superman has a secret identity in the first place? He goes out in public without a mask so there's no reason for anyone to suspect he has a second identity somewhere else, that'd be like suspecting normal famous people in our real world live secret second identity lives. You don't suspect that most of the time because we already know what they look like and they don't appear to be hiding who they are at all, unlike with Batman or Spiderman where they're wearing masks.

His ego refuses to accept that someone with Superman's powers would be perfectly comfortable living as a regular guy because Luthor would never do that
