A new Hellraiser movie came out last month

>a new Hellraiser movie came out last month
What the fuck? Has anyone see this yet? Next, you'll be telling me Neon Blades is coming out this year. I assume this is just as bad as Revelations?

Just once I'd like to get a Hellraiser flick that doesn't try to dance a story around the fact that people just want to see cool cenobites.

I liked it, best one since 2 if that means anything for such a shit series.

They're literally the only reason people watch Hellraiser.

Its better than that

Event Horizon is the best Hellraiser.

They should just cg a puzzle box and black leather on Sam Neill and call it a day.

It's utter shit. That whole Prefector storyline was already a screenplay that didn't get funded. It was a kickstarter project that no one was interested in but somehow they slapped some vague Hellraiser stuff onto it and actually got it made. It's fucking terrible. I could overlook the shitty story and acting if was actually focused on the cenobites.

Does that new Pinhead guy do better than the last one

>They're literally the only reason people watch Hellraiser.
They barely factor into the story in the original Hellraiser. The movie is about Frank.

its really bad
so bad that Sup Forums hasnt even picked up on it
and thats saying a lot given all the shit that is going on here

Hellraiser had the near exact same issues the saw franchise has, although at least the saw franchise was always tongue in cheek and always enjoyable
Hellworld and on is painful to watch for me

wrong, it was originally conceived as a Hellraiser screenplay

Look at this doughey looking motherfucker.

yes

not as good as doug bradley but for the most part he's pretty good

this one's from Revelations, not the same one

It's terrible. It's a very low budget film student-like production, with a retarded "LE COP IS LE SERIAL KILLER" story and you can see that people who made it grew up on video games and were doing the "lel this was cool in silent hill let's put it into the movie" thing in every other scene.

Actually the writer/director is a makeup FX specialist who's been working on the Hellraiser franchise since Hell on Earth.

So the absolute moron who designed the camera and CD changer cenobites?

They have to shit out these films or they lose the rights of the franchise.

No Doug Bradley, no watch.

those were the studio's idea, but yes, he made it happen.

The original idea for Judgement was to make it sort of like Brazil with Cenobites, but he got a shit budget and needed an excuse to pitch it as a more successful-sounding movie so he shoehorned the whole Se7en cop stuff into it and got rid of 90% of the Brazil stuff

The only good movies are the 1st, 2nd and 5th. Fight me.

Literally me

The movie fell thru, then they added Hellraiser to it. It was originally unrelated to Hellraiser at all.

>5th
>not the 4rd

I'll fight you

At this point, why bother? They'll never top 1 or 2. The director of this one even flat out admitted that.

wrong
it was Hellraiser related
but the writer couldn't fund it so his friends suggested making it a kickstarter project and filing off the Hellraiser IP for copyright reasons

however, it is true that even in the first draft, Pinhead wasn't supposed to be there. When the studio finally picked up the project, they had to shoehorn him in there.

well not for as long as the studios keep only giving them about 50 000 bucks budget

It'd be hard to beat Doug but I hoped he was good because the revelations pinhead was so bad

So you're saying we got kicked out of kino?

>I liked it
but it's fucking awful and not fitting in the series whatsoever

I think that's my boss

>barely factor into the story
but they keep you in suspense throughout, and whenever they appear it is fuckin' golden. remember: less is more, same thing with the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks.

top kek, that whole "movie" looks like it was fan-made or some shit

You had no idea your boss was Pinhead?

Are you really a shill for this absolutely terrible movie? WTF?

possibly. There's only so much a director can do when he doesn't have much experience (and has dubious preferences regarding cameras) but it's not like you can successfully shoot a nightmarish beaurocratic body horror hell on a shoestring budget with execs breathing down your neck because they don't understand the appeal of Hellraiser in the first place.

Revelations also allegedly had a far better first draft, inspired by mobster movies (like the first Hellraiser) that got turned into dumb serial killer shit

Look on the bright side, at least we'll never get an adaptation of The Scarlet Gospels.

>Whatever you do, don't call him pinhead!!!!

no, just dispelling your misconceptions

don't watch it, just don't spout falsehoods

Hellraiser in Space was irredeemable garbage tho

Damn, you can google this stuff. There was no cenobites, hellraiser, lemarchand boxes originally involved in it. The only reason it got picked up is because the company needed a cheap script to slap Hellraiser on it so they'd retain the rights.

>you can google
or you can listen to the writer's interview

It'd make for a killer anime though.

>tfw no 10 episode arc of Satan vs Pinhead (wearing actual Satanic power armor and fake wings.)

Clive's years of alcohol and dick have really fucked up his mind.

The franchise begins and ends with The Hellbound Heart - the sequel had some cool ideas but I've accepted the fact that there will never be a competent Hellraiser movie.

a local cinema is gonna show the first one, should I go?

I was at cex the other day (pre-owned electronics and physical media store) and found a DVD of Hellraiser: Hellworld but it read "HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD.COM" all over the case - even on the spine, what the hell?

yes

>wait years for Scarlet Gospels
>it's kinda shite
jdimsa

the writer rewrote that script many times. The only mention of hellraiser when he first tried to get the movie going was that it was "inspired by Hellraiser", that's it. Of course now he says he intended it that way all along.

Pretty much. The movies (and the book's sequel) only focused on the torture and sadism aspect, they didn't show the pleasures that the Cenobite's brought with them. The Cenobites were always fixated on sensation, both pleasant and painful. They embodied agony and ecstasy. None of the films touched on that at all (except for vague sexual stimulation.)

1 and 2 were pretty good. Where did it all go so wrong

I gave up on the series long ago. Rewatched one recently and it still holds up

The first two were by New World Pictures. Everything from Hell on Earth onwards was done by our good friends at Dimension Films. So I suggest blaming them.

I like Barker but it felt somewhere between fanfiction and a parody .

>There was a demon... it had a huge erection!

repeat 100 times and you've the next barker book

Read a rumor that he didn't really write that book, just signed it. Not out of lazyness or hackery, but because that time he fell in a coma and nearly died messed him up more than they're willing to admit.

But then again, Barker's output has always been a mixed bag, not a constant series of masterful works. Even Books of Blood is very hit-or-miss from story to story

looks like any loser's costume for a Halloween party

>The chocolate box. You opened it. We came
