I cant put my finger on it or articulate it but there is something so hate-able about this certain sort of male character reddit loves. Like Tony Stark, Chris Pratt in Guardians of the galaxy, and Archer β just this like arrogant, too cool, always joking, cant take things seriously, kind of cynical but male badass character that itβs just like so one dimensional and boring β they usually drink a lot and have this smarminess that I fucking hate and Reddit fucking loves them β like thinks they are just the coolest but really they are lame as fuck. Who else fits this?

it's basically the Marty Stu self insert for nerds that appeals to reddit.
reminder that you hate it because you see yourself in it and it makes you uncomfortable
what do you even mean you fucking faggot
Fuck off with your pop psychology you brainlet
reminder that you react violently because you know its true and it makes you uncomfortable
You hate it because it's a popular model.
If Reddit liked a tragic hero who cries in every scene or an angry hero who screams and makes a fuss for every little thing you'd hate those instead.
It's part of the construction that allows you to identify them as a united entity although they are not. You feel special because the model is popular and you managed to identify it, dissect it and hate it.
It has nothing to do with snarky cynicism. You'd love this kind of character if it was a rare and disliked occurrence.
And sure this never applies to the the things you dislike
That's why I don't care for movies like Indiana Jones.
that's just more of the same pop psychology.
and by that logic you're being so defensive because you yourself identify it and are projecting.
>HURRRRR why do young men like characters who are smart, funny, and confident?
Fuck off with your anti-male agenda.
>projecting this hard
>Fuck off with your anti-male agenda.
Not OP but I don't mind them being smart, funny and confident. I just want them to be more than that, they're one dimensional and lack passion. If they either had some flaws or real conviction (both is even better) they'd be more likeable to me.
>Who else fits this
Every character Clint Eastwood has played
this is the correct answer. all the popular 'heroes' of movies are some sort of self insert daydream of what the target audience wishes to be during that cultural time period
You're an obsessed and insecure faggot.
>cant take things seriously
I don't mind Tony Stark, at least not the one from the original Iron Man. He was a novel and interesting character then. But the whole "can't take things seriously" meme bothers me too, because I don't just see it in movies. People use defensive humor a lot now especially if it lets them avoid articulating a clear and confident position on something.
I agree OP. Reddit likes those celebs and shows who are always saying epic things
Look at their comments, it's fucking hilarious how they write everything out as if it's some mini series. Most Redditors are the the epitome of pseudo-intellectual
