The simpsons is great because characters are flawed and lovable and have depth. The stereotypes in the show are appearances only. Anyone who thinks Apu as a character is anti-Indian would have to think Wiggum is anti-police, Lisa is anti-intellectual, Bart is anti-teenager. This couldn’t be further from the truth, the show finds ways to celebrate the people underneath these paper-thin stereotypes, and the same is true for apu if you’ve actually watched the show.
Watching the show literally made me forget about my entire history and just left me seething with rage.

The Simpsons as a show has been irrelevant for almost two decades now, only really discussed when people want to say how good it used to be and reference things that happened in the show in the 90's. There's also not a lot of depth to be explored with the topic: either you agree with him that Apu is offensive or you don't. Ultimately, either way, what does it matter? There's practically nothing at stake. The Simpsons creators will either ignore his complaints and change nothing or the character will be removed or changed, but what does any of that matter anyways, especially when the show is irrelevant and insignificant? It doesn't. So how does a story like this compete with whatever antics Trump is up to lately, or the latest school shooting, or the other hundreds of thousands of millions of stories competing for the attention of the masses? It can't and it doesn't and it didn't.
