Reminder that no matter how bad it gets you will never be Coldfusion.

our comics are about equally shit and unnoticed, so I wouldn't say I'm far

Next chapter is set to drop next week,

Don't give up!

>Equally shit and unnoticed

Speak for yourself. What's your number on webcomiclist.com?

That web address doesn't exist so don't know. (Not the user you're asking by the way.)

When you forget to link among other important things...

boysland.thewebcomic.com/archive/#ch_102375

What's yours?

Friendly reminder that if you have anyone who reads and enjoys your comic at all, at the very least you're doing better than Coldfusion.

Good morning, /hyw/! How is everyone doing today?

Finally finished my first page of my comic, after a few months of posting concept art, oneshots, and that one controversial pic. I'm not sure if I should keep this as is, color it in fully, or add some sort of filter to change just the color of the ink

Awww a cat!
I think its ok without color. Post moar!

A bobble head cat! He's stuck in a box

Page 2

I agree with the other user, it looks good in b/n

That looks good.

This reminds me: are there any good guides for learning about panelling?

69 haha

Supervillainous?

All I have is this

There's no waking-up like waking up in space

I know I just said this about your bats, but it's so satisfying seeing a tanuki drawn properly. So many people think they're raccoons, instead of the fat foxes they are.

Do any of you guys promote your comics on any other sites like reddit?

Yeah, I'm intrrwested too. Any advices on promoting?

I'm not sure if I should have those little eyes in the back ground.

they're very subtle. the ones on the bottom don't even look like eyes at the first glance. I would change the central ones so their pupils aren't all the way to the left like that. That way they would be the most noticeable, and would make you start looking for the others.

Thanks but not exactly what I meant. That's more of the stuff in the panel and not the composition of the panels. It's a weird question to ask. I'm not totally sure how to word it.

Basically, what I want to know is, how to panel. Like shapes and number per page and all that stuff.

Hey all. Just posting here to inspire new comic makers that I see visit here every now and then. First of all, I'm an idea guy so anything can happen whether you have skill or not. My comic's been up for five years now and isn't popular or anything but the rewarding part is bringing the idea to life. It will probably take 20 years to finish with my speed of one chapter a year. A benefit of not being popular is no outside pressure to make your story faster and all that stress. I would type more but I have to get back to work for now. So...don't give up on your dreams anons!

read scott mccloud's understanding comics and making comics

>read scott mccloud's understanding comics and making comics
I actually own it but nothing in it ever stays in my head for some reason.

I remember a lot of Araki's Manga in Theory and Practice though.

Looks pretty cool. furry superheroes are always a fun time as long as they're badass like swat kats and not lame like road rovers (which was at least a good comedy)

>nothing in it ever stays in my head for some reason.
I'll be honest, its because the book is a bullshit.
He just described some traits he noticed in comics, but didnt give any real methods to make actual shit.

well that doesn't make it bullshit, it just means he's doing better than anyone else, at something that's very difficult: giving step by step instructions that people desire, for something that you pretty much have to learn by doing... but you won't learn by just doing anything, it has to be the right things.
what makes it bullshit is that he's just wrong about some of his points

>he's just wrong about some of his points
Which of them?

post your comics, m8

My webcomic is gonna be published now and I have anxiety.

Read it yourself and come to your own conclusions. The point is you don't have to agree with all of it just because he's legitimately an expert and he published it. You should agree with most of it, though. He knows a lot of what he's talking about

You should have because it is actually not that good and people will notice now that it gets some exposure.

>tapas.io/series/Samurai-Champignon
pls finish black hole badger someday 8_ )
this is also really cool btw

Nothing has really changed. Don't let it inhibit you
anus

thats what I'm afraid of.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Magic. He's in his own spaceship
Nah, real answer is that I don't know shit about space travel, my lazy ass excuse is that it's the year 2112 (or 3000, can't decide) and that stuff was figured out

I think you might have misunderstrangled me
That was a "There's no X like YX" phrase, indicating that the act of waking up in space is a very special kind of waking-up, and I dig it. It's a special kind of cliché that I very enjoy

I'm just asking your opinion, user.

I don't remember. But I remember clearly that that was my assessment when it was posted before.

watch strip panel naked

>guy anthro turns into firl anthro
So you're comic is fetishes first, quality never, got it.

They're clearly not even the same species. no split lip on the right, different ear tufts

I keep reading threads instead of working on my comic. I hate myself.

Every time I start I make something awful

let the threads inspire you
that furry superhero has already given me a quirky idea: what if a superhero who legitimately transforms, still disguises their new form.. that way everyone would be on the lookout for what they assume that person looks like under the mask, and nobody would buy any accusation that, say, Billy Batson was Captain Marvel, because they'd say "why does the Cap'n wear a mask then if he turns back into a little kid?" it's disguises upon disguises.
just let your brain start thinking of shit. every mistake is a new idea

This

haha no I meant the other funny number 420 hahaha

>strip panel naked
Cool, thanks. Will check it out once I have time. Are there any specific videos I should watch? Or just all of them?

Hey /hyw/! I was wondering how you deal with stress when it comes to art? Lately I have been feeling my art --which I really dont feel like posting out of being self-conscious ---is actually diminishing and it is starting to stress me out. However as I attempt to do more practice I always begin to feel more inadequate as I reach sections where I would have cleared before, does this happen with anyone here? How do you deal with it? Is there any tips?

Damn this place has a lot of positivity, my depression can't beat this. Thanks for the post user, I'm getting back on track

Try a different medium for a while. If you draw, paint. If you paint, draw.

Look at the actual deep-seated reaon for your anxiety. Think about what has changed from when you weren't anxious until now. Realize that the only real change is your attitude, and just accept it the way you accept a pain in your leg or something. Worse case scenario, you limp. If it's super bad, you go to a doctor. If nothing's wrong, you brush it off. Now that said
>I always begin to feel more inadequate as I reach sections where I would have cleared before
Are you saying you're doing worse at something you've been practicing? are you sure? double check your old work. You'll probably see improvement. That said, sometimes you have to take a few steps backward before going forward
also, sometimes your quality is just random. just like some days you're too tired and can't think straight to do math, some days your artist's eye is just fatigued or muddled.
If I can stay positive, anyone can

We /book/ now!

More work in progress. So many things I wanted to do, but I am cutting into my sleep time already, but this is a lot of fun.

I really finding my way back to fun with pencil again. I wish I had more time.

Your colors are gorgeous!

what comic? and how?

Been so busy/stressed with school and stuff havent been giving my work proper attention. Ive been changing the color style up and I completed the arch for the first part

DAMN. That's some impressive stuff. Great composition, atmosphere! not fond of the last two closeups, though. But the rest is really impressive. Reminds me a little bit of hellboy, but cleaner.

What's your comic's about man?

And some folks over Marvel get paid to draw shit.

Fuck this.

The first cover to our webcomic is done! Thanks to the talented and mysterious Nyamo for providing their time and effort making this happen!

Here's the Tapas link. We'll try our best to upload twice a week

tapas.io/series/witchwayswitch

And the description:
>In the small town of Witchway lives Marie, a 13-year old orphan whose parents went missing when the resident Witch became deranged and cursed those who lived in the town.
>Marie is joined by her two best friends; Morgan and Milly, granddaughters of the deranged Witch. Morgan is a hot-headed Witch-in-training determined to clear her family's name and Milly is the last living Witch who's always far too laid back and carefree about her magic for anyone's comfort.
>Together the three will have to fight other forms of magic, mythical creatures, and uncover the secrets of Witchway to find out what happened to Marie's parents.

Thanks! and yeah, its hard to show simple faces up close. Ive been working with lighting in a more simple art style.

the comic takes place in a city facing a revolution. Its about 2 twin brothers who were given robotic limbs after an accident at birth. One of them got it worse though and is more machine than the other. Theyre experiments who belong to the government and are forced into the Military Police. I really like fall from grace stories so it follows the more robotic one as he tries to bring peace to the city at the cost of his humanity.

This actually looks really good but from the thumbnail it looked like a dewd comic

slightly awkward language to avoid saying the sex of the cat. I almost thought it was a mistake and it was 'whenever the fox felt that way' but I don't remember the previous page

if you reworked the faces a bit to include a little more shadows (on the nose for instance), that'd be perfect in my opinion, with finers lines.

Also, story sounds damn interessting. If done correctly, that could be in a killer series!

thanks again! Ill for sure have to tweak similar parts with more intense lighting

That's kind of what my character does. He's a teen boy who can turn into an adult female supersoldier. His parents are divorced so he keeps it a secret from one of them and his school buddies. A triple secret identity! I didn't know about Captain Marvel until recently so I nearly gave my comic the same city name as Shazam's though it's spelled differently.

Dont' worry. Mines more serious than funny. Swat Kats was one of my comic's inspirations. Being kinda edgy seemed cool to me as a kid.

It sounds like it on paper but you are wrong. I try to avoid pointless fanservice since I sort of wanted to explore what happens to somebody after the initial novelty of gender swapping wears off.

Yeah, I agree it's a bit awkward. Next time I will try to find a different expression so it sounds more natural.
Not being a native speaker is suffering.

Kinda is the exact right amount of edgy
Wait, so that guy who said those were the same person transformed.. was right? Paint me shocked. Like I said, clearly a different species. Like she clearly doesn't have a fur-color mask under her actual-mask because it would be peeking up over the eye bits
I guess another thing that bugs me is furries following the modern trend of males having less hair than females, contrary to all animals that show a difference in the sexes. Surely some magical transformation should be taking the natural into account, not fashion trends

Finally done with chapter 4. Will upload it as soon as I'm done with the fanart pages and the fucking chapter cover.
This is getting better by the day. I'm happy.

Yer welcome, man!

Adorable af.

Different artists draw the characters' masks differently, one had the marks poke out of the mask. For the sake of style, it's generally covered. As for the hair part, it varies. But mostly girls have more head hair than the guys. Anthro aesthetics at work. Gonna shill link for those interested patreon .com/crossingover

I don't think about it. I just kinda make it up as I go. I got feedback here once that my panels were "wow so unique aren't you special," so I started thumbnailing with that in mind.
I don't have a pic on me right now, but during that bit on the cute alien finding love I did last thread, I had a whole page done to look like shattered diamonds with the girl reflecting off them. I then juxtaposed two panels where her eventual lover goes, "Hello, gorgeous. Are you aware of how pretty you are?"

I also wanna be an animator, so sometimes I think of it as storyboarding

>All those comics in this thread and not even one of them have explicit sex
You guys are a bunch of cowards.

I've got nothing against sex, I just think if I zoomed in on genitals interacting rather than just drawing lovers entwined, it would be sort of putting the wrong focus on the comic. People would show up for the sex and ignore the rest.

retard

inb4 the next page of kiwi day n is just hardcore loli fucking

check back tomorrow i guess

my comic will have implied sex along the line
which in my opinion is better in some cases

Sex are a cheap tactic to get in readers.

Aw man but what about rated-R sex? so tasteful. Right in that sweet spot between explicit and implied.

Since we're talking about sex, and because CF graced us with his pedocomic last thread, what do you guys think about implying sex between underage characters? I'm planning on writing a romance comic with high school aged characters, somewhere in the range of 16-18 years old. Midway through, after the main couple hooks up, I'm thinking about subtly implying that the two have sex, as a way of showing the relationship grow. I don't plan to give the audience much more than some bits of dialogue hinting it, but do you guys think it could be controversial?

Doesn't sound controversial enough. Make it explicit.

Mine will have some sex, but mostly plot

How does the panels look?

Considering manga does that and more, no. Especially if you're going to be posting it on here.

Are you worried about controversy when it comes from people who lambast every teen movie from the 80s, any anime with short skirts, or anything in which a man makes passes at women? Because yeah, Doug Walker is going to call you a creep. If that kind of thing bothers you.

How does Tapastic work compared to other sites? Do they takes anything away from the creator rights-wise?

Update! I meant to get a lot more work done this week, but I'm sick as hell

Saffron and Sage - SaffronComic.com

standard boilerplate they're allowed to use your comic in tapastic ads, that's it. You can't modify the site at all though, you're stuck with that one same layout, and if people scroll down too far in your comic they're apt to scroll right into someone else's.

...

Yeah, I only get like six clicks from it, but hey, free clicks!

Never a reason not to.
