It's ambiguous in the sense that the directors intentionally set out to create a movie that was hard to understand. They went out of their way to make it seem "deep", because if the plot was actually laid out in a straightforward way the movie would be seen as mediocre, which it is. The plot only seems deep on the surface.

In thaTsense, its still not ambigous. It might be hard to follow, but it can be worked out with no ambiguouty. Ambigous is leaving things unexplained with no way of knowing what happened, Primer is not ambigous
