It was the Avatar of it's time. Overbudget, pretty to look at and forgotten. Funny how the girl from Napoleon Dynamite is in it though.

It’s long with a slow build up to the action. It’s a movie that would have been better as a mini series on TV.

Avatar was critically accalimed and I knew people who saw it 6 times in the theater.
Waterworld was hated by everyone and it took me two weeks to find a person willing to bite the bullet and see it with me. Everyone else was like "fuck no I am not spending $5 on that shit!".

To be fair it became sort of a meme to hate the movie back then (although not as much as they hated and mocked "last action hero"). It wasn't as bad as people claim but I have never met a person who owned a copy on DVD/BD and I have never had the slightest urge to ever watch it ever again after I saw it in the theater.

Literally a movie that has been memed to death. It has a great setting, interesting characters and a fun plot. Ending is kinda meh, but the rest of the movie makes up for it.
