t. brainlet

WOT IF we send a team of untrained cunts to the bargain bin ZONE. they'll survive what the army didnt.

mental innit?

Women ruin everything so why not send them into a place you want ruined??

kek

They weren’t stronk retard and died one by one like stupid whores. Happy ending was bad tho.

>Happy ending
>you have biologically changed because of an alien force
>the thing that looks like your husband is actually an alien clone

"people don't commit suicide, they self-destruct"

Either way, Garland killed his career with this insufferable straight-to-TV garbage.

But all of them were self-destructive, flawed people?

anyone know when this comes to netflix in the US? i really wanna see it but sure as shit aren't going to a cinema to do it.

Attached: 1517565617391.jpg (750x750, 61K)

literally none of the were strong. That's why they all got fucked over. Well except that one chick who turned into a tree of her own volition
why not? I think it's worth seeing in theaters for the sound alone.

Strong means a well rounded character. Not physically and mentally resilient.

>they'll survive
?

Shhhh....its just an incels daily coping technique

is every single reply for someone not liking this piece of shit going to be this shitty new wojak meme? use some words you subhuman underage faggot

Almost all anyone says in a positive direction regarding this mind-numbing, cringeworthy crap was that it had "pretty colourful visuals".

The available evidence would incontrovertibly suggest that those who could find a movie this dumb to be at all profound, really are perfect example of the crayon-eating stereotypical American.

why did all the previous missions fail?
>they were men
we suspect they all killed each other or (some other thing)
...
woman meets cgi thing for first time
instantly tries to kill it

NOOOOOOOOOO NOT WOMEN NOOO

>Happy ending

You didn't see it did you?

Why didn't they send in automated machines to explore the zone?
He have seen that memory cards still work, so it would be possible to program a robot to drive into the zone, get a sample and drive out the same way.

Why don't you pay attention to the movies you watch?

Tell me faggot. The video cameras worked just fine and the "this thing reflects EVERYTHING" only is a problem if you use GPS or anything else that needs a radio signal to work. Just use a robot similar to one of those automatic vacuum cleaners.

Did you even watch the movie?
The film hardly mentions or even makes a point of the all female troop. It makes sense in the context of the film and they still almost fail miserably. I blame the trailer for promoting the film in a weird way and triggering virgin autists like OP.

You are really really dumb

>they intended to survive
>they didn't literally call it a suicide mission
>months hadn't been spent sending regiments of soldiers in previously

You either didn't watch the film or are one of the dimmest bulbs ever

You are a poo poo head

>dude missing the point expedition

alien cloned stuff, so they sent in suicidal retarded women, so alien would mimic them, and then become just as suicidal and retarded as them

i didnt watch the movie and probably never will

Watch the movie again but this time pay attention to the dialogue. Then use your critical thinking skills.

>I didn't watch the movie

You don't say..

You are a full homo buttboy

His original propostion makes sense. Sure it doesn't make a good movie but there is no reason why it shouldn't work.

I used my genius tier intellect to deduct the plot from OPs post

no, you are a big gay

Why the fuck didn't they just fly over the zone and drop soldiers from choppers directly on the lighthouse?

because Saurons dragons would fuck them up.

>stronk
>they all fuck up because of infighting
Subtle redpill.

The stronk womens get blown the fuck out though.

In the book it's literally a coincidence that they're all women.

Why didn't they send in in a team which would just penetrate the perimeter, stay there for a day or a few hours, and then have them return, even attaching ropes around their waists if need be. Having these massive month-long expeditions fail without exception seems to be quite fruitless if the effects of the shimmer for even a short period of time are unknown (which were clearly severe, e.g. amnesia).

>DUDE STRONK WYMEN EXPEDITION
Lol did you eve watch it m8? They're clearly chosen and accepted to go in because they're not stronk wymen. They're all fucked up.

Yes, it’s happy ending. She destroyed alien zone and saved her clone husband. To make ending pretentious and ‘deep’ they added this silly ‘i’m mutant now’ ambiguity.

That could work if it ran on solar tech.

did you even watch it? they weren't strong at all and got fucked up, only " strong " moment was portman taking out the alligator and that was just cause she knew how to shoot.

>saved her clone husband
She obviously didn't know he'd be saved. She wanted it dead, period.

you're the stupid one. Sending women into the zone was stupid and had no logic. Besides the jew one, none of them had weapon, survival training. And most of them were mentally unstable wrecks

>have a movie comprised of male lead actors
>say nothing
>have a women lead film that isn't dumb obvious catering like Ghostbusters or Ocean's 8
>REEEEEE STRONK WOMEN SJW SHIT

It feels like you guys just force yourselves to be angry at things sometimes.

Attached: VISIBLE CONFUSION.gif (244x194, 1.95M)

so it's Evangelion?

>This triggered by women in movies
wow lol

Yes, with second impact and all.

Pretty much this. The mention of women or the presence of Hershlag is enough to trigger the brainlet retards even if it isn't hamfisted like the movies you mentioned

I was mostly triggered by the bad acting.

Nah, you guys are just very stupid and gulliable. Look at your clocks. Take note of the time. This is near the last hours of aussie shitposting time. Stop falling for such obvious b8.

Attached: 1501678294506.jpg (560x560, 291K)

At least for the group we follow in the film, we learn that they lose entire days almost immediately after entering the shimmer. But yeah they should have used ropes or something at least.

>rope
>made of organic material
>shimmer fucks with organic material
>assuming a rope would work
Steel wire, sure. Rope, nah.

I was looking forward to it after checking out the book but Garland had no idea what the book was about. Admitedly the sequels indicate the author also had no idea what the book was about either but that’s neither here nor there.
Also Garlands changes mean the name has no relevance to the story.
The tiny sentinel was laughable. Ending was garbage.

They all had weapons training.

Also, do explain why it would be stupid and illogical to have specifically women explore unknown phenomena as opposed to men, while also keeping in mind that plenty of men had been send in before them.

>The tiny sentinel was laughable
Is that what the alien is called?

>Also Garlands changes mean the name has no relevance to the story.
The names of the books have no relevance to the stories in the first place.

>In the book

>>>/reddit/

he isn't her husband because she isn't her

No it fucking isnt. This film is a pile of garbage on a hot New Mexico day but not for the reasons stated by idiots like you.

your mom isnt her

It just reminded me of the sentinals from X-Men: DoFP

Same boss fight in Virtual Fighter 2

fuck off you reddit faggot. they literally had a scene where everyone was in awe how hershlag knows to aim and fire a weapon. Everyone else was firing like they're retarded niggers. The movie also had a scene where the strong Independent lesbian one couldn't carry a gun because it was too heavy :((

It would be more logical if they send military escort with them. Sending them alone was pointless

That might be true plot wise but there’s still a reason for the use of the word Annihilation. There is none at all in the film

>very stupid and gulliable
>stupid and gulliable
>and gulliable

I'm Ameriburger m8, nice try

:)

Which is?

Unoriginal premise, poor acting, and lack of any real payoff made this film kinda a disappointment
Miles better than a lot of churned-out bullshit released but it was so fucking mediocre. I watched it with the mindset that it would be a clever film, so I kept waiting for the crux or turning point where the interesting concept and mystery was realised in some way, but it didn't.
Want a film about an alien organism assimilating other lifeforms cause thats what it does and doesn't realise its evil? Watch the thing

penuis

So, why Mimic-Lena had the paramedic's tattoo?

>the interesting concept and mystery was realised in some way
In what way, for example?

It's the symbol you get when you're affected by the shimmer. I think it's meant to represent the cells dividing, and not infinity. The guy with the moving stomach had it as well.

>wasting time walking to the lighthouse instead of just parachuting down
brainlet tier movie but i liked the lighthouse part

Lena had brusies but i don't remember the actual Ouroboros in her arm, only in the copy

>>wasting time walking to the lighthouse instead of just parachuting down
>implying they wouldn't lose consciousness and wake up already on the ground and possibly somewhere completely different than the lighthouse
>wasting the fuel for such a dumb idea when you can just let them walk down the beach

It didn't just manifest. It took it's time. You can see it develop slightly throughout the later acts until it's shown on her directly.

why is Sup Forums so desperately defending this shitty movie?

Attached: annihilation manbearpig.jpg (1200x697, 129K)

>have a movie comprised of male lead actors
>say nothing

Depends on the story idiot. If it's a movie about periods, vaginas, motherhood etc, then no one will complain about no male actors

If it's a movie about being strong, and intelligent, and not worthless sacks of shit, then you have every right to complain if it's not men

Context, retard

It seems to mostly be trolling, and people complaining about the films stupid plot and characters. Where are the defenders?

in a way that wasn't just realising what the alien was and leaving. The whole thing felt like such an anticlimax. I'm aware that the whole mystery and "not knowing" is partly the point but the pacing and intrigue leading up to that really pointed towards a big kinda "brave new world" confrontation and realisation.
also the twist at the very end was garbage.
In terms of "what way"? idk, some sort of condensation of the floaty concepts which dot around. it was just a bit too vague to be satisfying personally.

saved

Also, was there any explanation to why they didn't just leave once someone died? I know the leader wanted to find the lighthouse at all costs, but wouldn't it make more sense to send short expeditions in for initial research rather than the massive trek to ground zero which no-one had survived yet?

The twist was dumb. But I don't think there was a problem with the "anticlimactic" ending, and I didn't think there was anything pointing "towards a big kinda "brave new world" confrontation and realisation". It's basically a mix of The Colour Out of Space and Roadside Picnic. There's nothing you can confront nor anything you can understand. That's the whole point.

Pay attention to the film next time.

Almost every thread requires a bunch of us to repeatedly dunk on peoples idiotic Cinema Sins level "BUT WHY DIDN'T THEY LIKE FLY A PLANE INTO THE SHIMMER OR SEND IN A THOUSAND PEOPLE AT ONCE" nitpicks

I like science-fiction that takes itself seriously even if it's not great. Most of the criticism isn't real criticism though, just really petty narrative stuff. 'Why didn't they X' isn't really criticism. In some really bad cases like hyperspace ramming in the shit new Star Wars movie is fair since that breaks decades of established plot but here only a minimal amount of critical thought can dismiss most of this crap. It's worse than with Prometheus.

>why women scientists
They tried male soldiers and got no results. What do they have to lose?
>why no ropes and helicopters?
I assume they tried that and it failed for some reason. Or maybe they just assume you won't think so hard about it. It's not a movie about the difficulty of getting around the shimmer, it's about people having their minds fucked by alien stuff.

By the time someone died they were more than halfway to the lighthouse. Their plan to navigate using the coast was perfectly sensible. Not sending in mini-expeditions is the weirdest thing. Just telling people to spend a day inside and then report back would tell them so much.

>If it's a movie about being strong, and intelligent, and not worthless sacks of shit, then you have every right to complain if it's not men

Annihilation wasn't even about this, they had been sending people into the shimmer for 3 years and were constantly changing the variables. A lot of these included skilled, well train military males.

So they tried a small group of women who all had some bad shit happen in their past, but had relevant skills for the job.

True but that's just ignorance. You find that everywhere. Don't you enjoy, even slightly, the thrill of beating down on a faggot? I know I do.

Dude, let's put women in the movie so we triggered the stupid kids in the internet and gives us free promotion.

Recruited would be a more fitting word. Only ventress seemed to be getting payed.

>Just telling people to spend a day inside and then report back would tell them so much.
See

What the second user said is more what I meant, I understand the characters' motivation not to leave, but it just seemed like a fundamental flaw that scientists didn't undertake gradual research into the shimmer before trying to send some crack team in there to solve it.
Initial research to inform future missions??? why the fuck would they do that, this is a movie not real life

I know, but still telling at least one team to return as soon as they have any information at all would be a good idea, even if it's not exactly 24 hours.
