Everything about setting is just so fucking Kino.
Much of it is also Sci-Fi as fuck, and dystopian, to imagine there even was a fucking wall in the middle of Berlin with 2 different places completely different ways of living and stuff.
Why can't Hollywood make anything else that is not Capeshit, Alien invasion or European folklore?
The setting has endless forms of entertainment, it could also be made from a group of American tourists trapped in the war trying to get out, scared of what has happened to their families.
Because we now know what the USSR/Warsaw Pact war plans were and a full nuclear, biological, and chemical exchange is only "kino" to pathetic man-children living out gun porn fantasies in their FPS vidya games.

What would be kino is a ww2 movie set in France after dday, from the nazi side. Imagine a naive 15 y/old german kid, almost no training, you have huge armies of us tanks rolling towards you. Natives cant be trusted, the commandment is a mess, losing ground every day...
I went to one of the dday beach, there was only 4 (four) german teenagers in 2 pillowboxes against the allies rolling in with hundreds of men and tanks... Talk about a sense of dread
This is the only "Commie invasion of America" story I've ever found actually plausible. That and Freedom Fighters, but even that took place in an alternate reality that required decades of Soviet domination to achieve.

it's moreso that berlin isn't much of a strategic target at the time as east germany had rerouted all the main roads out of it by the 80s so it was no longer a huge traffic hub
