The critical aspect of fun that it is not a quality that can be observed or measured in things, because it's a subjective experience generated by the brain and whether the individual finds something fund depends on what kind of sensory associations their brain has developed. There are hardly any 'universally' fun experiences that aren't tied to physical stimulation that a movie couldn't possibly provide.
