Gwenpool vs. America

The numbers are in Sup Forums, let’s compare the sales from two of our favourite girls.

23987 people America for a second time AFTER reading Issue one. Damn that is a lot of retards.

>extremist trash
>gets fucking D R O P P E D
>waifu trash
>doing fine
wtf is this bigoted cis maths??

IT’S BEAUTIFUL

How lo long until Gwen gets replaced by a minority version of Gwen?

That vertical drop to issue 2 shows Gwenpool’s true power.

Good.

That's normal for comics

It seems unlikely since the entire reason she exists is because someone decided it would be a good idea to take gwen stacy and combine her with deadpool. Her looks are very much tied to her character.

Gwenpool is love
Gwenpool is life

As an outside to comics, why?

It's very disheartening if I were to move into the comic business with a less than 40% retention rate, and dropping.

Once again the forces of cute win a decisive victory over the forces of something or other.

*plane crash noises*

This, for fuck sake this. I wanted Squirrel Girl to have the same tone as Gwenpool, but the art is just so fucking bad its distracting and the narrative is written by someone I dont even think is a human being but rather a sentient Tumblr account, it just isnt fun like Gwenpool. Make comics entertaining again.

I'm happy to see Gwen trending upwards there, but these numbers are old. Isn't her series up to issue 20 or so now? I'm curious to see how it's holding up, especially since I'm buying that series in TPB format and thus not technically contributing to issue-to-issue sales.

#1 issues have collector value, also overshipping.

To be honest, the Gwenpool drop from issue 1 is much higher than average. The drops, especially from Marvel, tend to be pretty large since Marvel prioritizes #1 sales through a variety of factors - from a number of variants that require X number of standard issues to be purchased to the retailer just not knowing what the audience for the book is going to be like in their region.

Nice. Now show the.numbers for the last current issues that came out the same month to show they're practically neck and neck at this point.

That literally happens with the second issue of every series. In fact, look at it this way:

Retailers have to order the first three issues before the first issue is ever released, so they have no way of knowing whether or not the first issue will sell at the time when they're making their orders for issues 2 and 3. They just have to order a bunch of the first issue and hope for the best, see how it goes, etc. Ordering a bunch of issue 1 is just giving the series the best chance they can while being realistic about the next couple of issues before the audience has "found" the book.

worth reading? considering how i bought mango moeshit, i think i can get into gwenpool

Why did Gwenpool go back up?

Because that issue had a nude scene, with Gwen accidentally getting kicked out naked into the streets and had gratuitous butt shots all around.

>Gwenpool #20 14,239
>America #7 9,137
Gwenpool has dropped hard from the beginning of the 3-month long Gwen fad.

Bullshit.

Xenology shown latest issue to be 45th place outta 100 best sellers. America was 124

Issues 5 and 6 weren't drawn by Gurihiru.

Issue 7 they returned.

Not a real surprise that some people were only buying it for the art.

I'd love to see the sales figures for the Gwenpool Trades considering the first trade is all Gurihiru and the second starts with the 2 non-Gurihiru issues.

gimmicks/variants, it's the only way shit like gwenpool goes up

Show issue 21
It sold well from what I heard

Why are you comparing these two in particular?

Nah. He's actually telling the truth. Here's a cover variant for that chapter.

>considering how i bought mango moeshit
You need to go back

Wait, people still buy individual comics?

Why?
'
I get buying collections and full storylines that would look decent on a shelf, but who the fuck still wastes their money on tiny individual issues?

>L-look guys! Our sub-cancellation selling book is actually really popular! G-gwen a cute as long as she's drawn by Gurihiru, otherwise we don't care about the book.
Nothing on Sup Forums is more pitiful than Gwenpoolfags.

I like Irene's art faggot

You sound buttmad.

...

Induvidual issues have the varient cover art and also it's the best way to support comics you like.

It's not the best way to support in general.

We can't show #21 sales. October numbers aren't out yet. Hell, October isn't even finished yet. Fucking Gwenfags.

>variant art
Is that really worth the price?

>supporting comix
If the main reason for purchasing something is supporting its creator you've either got a shit product or busted distribution

It got outsold by a week old Deadpool issue on Comixology

Gwen is a really good book, sadly outside of hastings writing her she tends to just be used as meta commentary

This needs to be the regular artist for squirrel girl.

It was week 1 sales from Xenology fucking chill m8

I would literally buy anything they drew. I have their Power Pack and Avatar stuff and I'm not ashamed to say I love it.

Well, a little ashamed. But I can live with it.

Ain't dead pool super popular? That seems natural

unless you like the product and want more of it.

>unless you like the product and want more of it.
If you're buying a product because you like the product then you're not buying it to support the creator. Those are two different reasons.

Comics need to move to a new model or else resign themselves to being shock factories that maintain awareness of the movies and merch.

I'll say it again but comics would blow up on popularity if cartoons were made that followed popular . To bad the American animation industry is fucked

Reminder that Gwenpool is literally an insert of Heather Antos

No she self I seats her self as gwen. But Gwen is not her self insert.
Also
>assistant editor.
Shes a coffee runner

yeah. But user here said buying individual comics is the way of supporting the comic.

Gwenpool is also one of those "It sells great on Comixology" series, while America isn't.

>glorified coffee girl dyes her hair for attention

"SHE'S A SELF-INSERT!"

In almost shocked by the amount of misinformation that milkshake incident caused. So many people think this bitch writes the book

Units shipped, not sold.
This indicates retailers cut their estimates by at least half before 1 even hit their shelves.

At least this time you said "insert" instead of "self insert".

You're still autistic though

>denying facts this hard because you’re thirsty

The latter, Western comic distribution has been broken for decades now.

#43 of the week isn't great

Wait, these are just units shipped?

What's the sell-through?

At least my son respects me.

We dont know and never will.

Marvel cooks the books by shipping "free" copies to retailers and is getting a lot of shit for it. We have Twitter caps of comic shop owners complaining about the 40 "free" (They have to pay for the shipping) issues of books like Great Lakes Avengers they get and how they fail to sell more than five copies.

no seriously, which "facts"?

So sell-through is completely private info?

Why would anyone want to run a LCS

Why indeed.

To sell Magic the Gathering and 40k/Warmahordes/Infinity/X-Wing while also having a clubhouse for your comic friends to play said games in while you talk about, but don't read/buy comics.

Better than where America is

Most of them are hanger-ons from back when books actually sold well.

gwen is nice

Stop Grabing the boarders Gwen!

>Xenology
Do you mean comiXology? The latest weekly ranking thread is now up:

...

3 weeks since last Gwen issue Meh make sense

It had a few months of 17K, but last month was 14K

Actually, Chocolate Genius Gwen could work. Because hear me out: our Gwen, no longer with her own book, turns fully evil and becomes new Gwen's arch-nemesis. We get Nega Gwen back.

>wtf is this bigoted cis maths??

The accountants don't play the game, they just keep score. Don't yell at them when you don't like the numbers.

fucking white males i swear to god

How in the *hell* is America still being published with numbers like that?! Is Marvel so frightened of backlash from people who, clearly, aren't buying their special snowflake diversity quota character to just axe the book already? Are America trades selling so well that they make up for numbers this pathetic? Does Gabby Rivera know where some Marvel executive had to dump a hooker's corpse or something?

Neither are good.

>the good book is still doing okay
Keep it up Gwen, I love you.

>Here's this diversity thing we are pushing, who cares what it sells though, it's just for PR

It's Marvel's third best current book, but first best with a female lead. So sure, give it a go.

>she tends to just be used as meta commentary
Man, I fucking wish. Half the time, other writers use her for selfie gags rather than meta-commentary. At least meta-commentary is something she actually does in her own books. She's taken all of ONE selfie and somehow that's her defining characteristic outside of her book.

Gimmicks/variants are generally the only way ANYTHING goes up, with a handful of very rare exceptions.

>wasting gurihiru on the shit writing of Squirrel Girl instead of keeping them on the great writing of Gwenpool
"No."

Depends on what you're into. It's light on action but focuses more on Gwen's character development.

7 was the Marvel Nower relaunch.

Gwen needs more fanart and porn to stay relevant. Get to it.

It's almost like no one cared who she was til she put on the mask

I wish there were more wallpaper quality images of her.

Actually, the final cut-off date for orders of Amercia #2 was 12 days after #1 hit the stands, so enough time to gauge reader interest - of course, THAT interest was inflated by whatever #1 and variant cover collectors still exist and people willing to give it a try. #3 numbers is when the stores adjusted their orders based on reader drop-off between #1 and #2.

...

That's not that big of an achievement though, seeing as how I could literally shit on a newspaper, stick the Marvel logo on it, and have a chance to break the top 10.

Big nose if true

...

>cute shit selling
BASED

It's not true. Heather is assistant editor on the book. The character was designed by people that have probably never met her since they work on a different editorial pool.

>I know nothing about the industry or Ike's gutjob
Lol fuck off you nigger

It's selling like half those numbers now. those issue counts are way out of date for gwen. Yes she did better then America is doing at the same issue counts, but currently Gwenpool is not wrecking America nearly as hard as that chart implies. Of course America could continue to fall and God only knows what the numbers would look like for issue 21, where Gwenpool is now.
