It's almost as if being rich doesn't make you happy.
You undervalue Don Draper if all he was was "just rich"
it does only poor people say money doesn't make you happy
he was JUST a rich cuck, nothing more nothing less
cuck
Nothing he had ever made him feel any less empty
Uhh handsome, business-savvy, and a white man? He had a full house.
>born a byproduct of a farmer and a prostitute neither wanted
>grow up in a brothel getting beaten by johns and the madam
>get sent to Korea doing nothing but digging graves
>survive an air raid and sell your CO’s body as your own to your awful family. They buy it because, deep down, they want you to be dead
>steal your CO’s identity and start selling junkers to teenagers as if they’re new
>scrape your way to a good life by lying to sell yourself as someone desirable: lie that you were hired while your new boss was drunk, lie to your new wife about who you are and where you came from, lie to your consumers about the products you sell them
>get found out at work but your so good at lying that it doesn’t matter
>get found out by your wife and your family falls apart
>seduce tons of women through lying about who you are because you know they wouldn’t love the real you and you know who they want and it’s easy enough to wear that mask
>have an existential crisis because you alone know that all you are is a bullshit artist who no one really knows or loves
But hey at least you got some money
that's like the point of the show
Its almost as if the world is something you percieve and not objectively have.
Damn dude. Mad Men is my favorite show and you just messed me up a little.
It's almost as if the things we get advertised as being the goal of a good life are hollow lies.
You forgot the part where he was tall, beautiful, extremely intelligent, strong, charismatic, and socially suave.
Only poor people think money makes you happy. Over a certain amount of income it stops mattering.
Madmen expectations:
> Don draper being a bad ass in every episode
> complex marketing problems being solved in every episode in unique and groundbreaking ways
Mad men reality:
> Don draper is actually incredibly anxious, insecure, and generally pretty kind
> an unusual amount of female perspective in the 60s even though every character and their dad is overtly sexist
> random solutions out of thin air to marketing problems SOMETIMES
seriously, it's not that fucking hard to understand
Mad Men expectations:
>shitty james bond ripoff without the guns
Reality:
>greatest TV show ever
You're retarded if anything more than a middle of the middle class income doesnt make you happy. If I were earning more than 100k a year while working in an office environment id be so fucking happy.
Have you even read the other posts ITT?
his lying of who he is makes him a stranger to everyone around him, including himself.
he doesnt feel like he's the man that people see him as, hes trying to catch him
its not him cheating that leads to the end of his marriage its his lying about who he is
>mad men ending 3 years ago
lads..i want to go back
>Man keeps up a façade of being successful and someone who everyone wants
>cannot internalize it and suffers from internal conflict and inherent low-self worth
>it crashes on top of him
It's funny how many people still push "fake it till you make it" when its a psychological given that you cannot do it without actually resolving your internal conflict and internalizing successful mindset first.
No it doesn't.
I've done both. The only way I'd be happy is to be free of any obligations, monetary, sociological etc
Being rich means you don't have to worry about money, nothing else
FYI
all the mad men shit is being sold right now at an online auction
cried like a bitch watching this
WHAT LINK
This summary is inherently wrong because Don was found out and confessed who he was a few times. Anna, Betty and Megan knew the truth, and none of those marriages fell apart because of his identity, they fell apart because of his mental issues (or amicably, in the case of Anna). And Don wasn't really lying about being desirable, he really was, he stopped wearing the mask a while ago.
