Do people hate this? I thought it was alright, pretty good even, almost.

imho the best OG trek film
infinitely quotable
It's really underrated. The only thing I actually don't like about it is that it makes the whole Enterprise crew other than Kirk look like psychological weaklings, which isn't really consistent with the rest of the franchise. Other than that, it's a great fucking movie.
Bill, I know it's your birthday, but the fucking movie sucked, okay? It was terrible. Stop. Go ride one of your horses and forget about this steaming pile like everyone else has.
t. not climbing a mountain
not entirely sure I agree
they're human, and fallible, and faced with an insane proposition; the banishment of their deepest, darkest fears and pain
could you resist?
I don't know, but why is Kirk able to resist?
not every man is capable of commanding 2x 5-year missions and bringing the ship and (most of) it's crew home safe
he's the greatest hero in human history BRO, if anyone could resist it's him
Bones steals the show as usual. The movie is shit but Bones and Sybok scenes are pretty good. DeForest Kelley was an underrated actor.
True. Actually, I can't think of any scene I've ever seen him in that he did not elevate.
>ywn be so god damn irresponsible, playing games with life enough for bones to be worried about you
The only Trek film worse than V is Insurrection.
1. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (Nimoy, 1986)
2. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Meyer, 1982)
3. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Meyer, 1991)
4. Star Trek (Abrams, 2009)
5. Star Trek: First Contact (Frakes, 1996)
6. Star Trek Beyond (Lin, 2016)
7. Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Wise, 1979)
8. Star Trek: Nemesis (Baird, 2002)
9. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (Nimoy, 1984)
10. Star Trek Into Darkness (Abrams, 2013)
11. Star Trek Generations (Carson, 1994)
12. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Shatner, 1989)
13. Star Trek: Insurrection (Frakes, 1998)
>4. Star Trek (Abrams, 2009)
Damn straight. A love-letter to the franchise that isn't just a remake? That was a great movie.
Imagine what Rian Johnson would do to Kirk...
>Into Darkness
Go away Paramountie
Why was insurrection even made?
>that lame Data boobs joke
Why do people appreciate IV so much? It's ridiculous silly fun, but in no way better than the first three movies, or even First Contact, of the very underrated Beyond.
besides better cinematography, setting most of the movie on a ship besides the enterprise successfully, having a great soundtrack, being funny as hell, great acting platform for the most based of trek actors to chew scenery, high stakes, original plot
I could go on
>in no way better than the first three movies
>III > IV
wut
It was even nominated for best cinematography, but I have to say, I didn't really notice it. Maybe that was just the beauty of it? Flawless camera movements.
why did Nimoy do a better directing job than Shatner? Think it made him bitter?
Compared to what came before it, which, albeit funny, seems a little dated now, 5 seemed like a letdown.
V was really bad, goofy Trek. But it's 1000x better than Star Trek I, the TNG movies (minus First Contact) and all the nu JJ Trek films.
don't confuse direction with the influence of CG and on-location shooting. Nimoy had ILM at his disposal and Shatner didn't.
Nimoy also chose to film in comtemporary San Fran
I was disappointed that we didn't get to see Uhuras nips during that dance scene. I don't care how old she was.
You can see them on the bluray. They're like three inch long purple pencil erasers.
It's because movies these days are so generic and all feel painted by numbers, that even medicore flicks from the 80s and 90s feel somehow special and scripted with passion.
>Nemesis better than Insurrection
Are you even a Star Trek fan?
>Why was insurrection even made?
Because it had this cutie :^3
>He's coming into visual range now, sir
>me in the center
>anything worse than Insurrection
Are you?
It was okay but honestly the least good of the tos movies.
But least it wasnt as pants on heads retarded as nemesis or JJs movies.
At least Insurrection had a plot that felt like it had some allegorical potential typical for Star Trek. In Insurrection all the characters felt out of place, especially Picard.
not him, but insurrection is unironically one of the top three trek movies.
1. Star Trek IV
Mah nigga.
>HIS BRAIN IS GONE
Perfect bait.
I'll kill your family.
Brain and brain! What is brain?
the movie was great though. amazing even. only bad thing is not getting to know what kirks pain was. probably his sons death but his son was like a really small part of trek from the audiences view.
interesting i thought this was my screenshot but somebody else made one almost exactly the same. amazing minds are.
