Not underutilized, every mutant has limitations. Sometimes they're not in full control of their abilities, or they simply can't use them to their full potential. Magneto is one of the few that can and even he has trouble against sentinels.

Nothing in capeshit is horrifying except the genre itself.

The sentinels arent made of a magnetic metal, but there's no reason why Magneto cant cover them with dust of a magnetic metal and then use them as playthingies.

If you can use telekinesis... well it defies physics, so why should it not be something you can get better at? With telekinesis you can not only left and push, you can crush, you can incinerate, you can dissolve the things into its atomic components etc. You can use it to heat up air and shoot it out of your hands as a plasma beam, like you're in Dragonball Z.

X-men shows over and over again that when people use and train their abilities they get better at it. Sucks for those with bad abilities, like Beast.
