>much better than X-Files
>season 2 is a genuine masterpiece of television, on par with The Prisoner and Twin Peaks S1
>never gets discussed
Why? It's criminal how underrated it is.
Much better than X-Files
because it isn't even close to as good as X-Files and they dun goofed by turning the Millennium Group into mustache-twirling villains
I don't believe you but now I have to watch it to find out ya prick
>Why?
Season 02 - Episode 09 is why.
Also, Season 03's mytharc episodes were shit tier.
Have fun. S1 is a well-made but generic serial killer of the week procedural. S2 is kino. S3 doesn't exist.
The Darin Morgan episodes are precisely why the show should be more popular on this board. Every single XF thread always reaches the consensus that Darin and Glen Morgans' episodes are the pinacle of the series while Carter is a hack, and Millennium S2 is Morgan brothers with complete creative freedom and no Carter involvement. They made such kino that he didn't understand it, got butthurt and fired them.
>Carter involvement
Is he responsible for the Millennium group schism bullshit?
It's like he recycled the The Syndicate plot device from The X-Files and did the same shit.
Season 03 in a nut shell.
>MUH KATHRYN
>MUH JORDAN
>MUH JOB, again
>Peter Watts is be behind everything! Why can't you see?
Millennium Group would have done 9/11 had there been two more seasons and no Lone Gunmen spin-off..
Doesn't have the star power or pop culture recognition that X-Files has.
It's definitely underrated though. Seasons 1 & 2 are kino.
That was Wong's idea
>The introduction of schisms within the Group was inspired by Wong's research into the Knights Templar and Freemasonry, as he considered these secretive organizations to have mirrored the way he wanted to present the Group, and he felt each contained factions or reactionary elements which he wanted to recreate.[6]
The way it evolved it became too similar to the Syndicate storylines and they also admitted it was a mistake due to XF similarities, but I think it was also handled differently, I'd compare the Group to the Mulder & Scully relationship instead; Carter wanted them to be set in stone, M&W wanted to explore their ideological conflicts and allow for development. A good example of this is Never Again the last XF episode they wrote (until the reboot), the very last scene being M and S in a state of conflict, which Carter hated and the reason they couldn't keep working on XF.
>However, due to the massive amounts of rewrites the two were forced to do for "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man", both Morgan and Wong lost interest (...) Morgan explained, "I felt they didn’t want my heart and soul anymore, so I wouldn’t give (another) one to them".[4]
Season 1 was a great, bleak dive into serial killers and darker side of going after Really Bad People with the mental toll it takes. Season 2 was an interesting conspiracy story with a fantastic ending. Season 3 immediately shat the bed by retconning that ending, and otherwise lost its way by not really knowing what the fuck it was going to be about.
I still like it more than The X-Files. But when the fuck are we going to get Millennium on Bluray?
Alright, I'm gonna go into this one blind. Anyone know where I can get a torrents for the first 2 seasons? the second season isn't fully available on piratebay from what I've seen
>But when the fuck are we going to get Millennium on Bluray?
The DVD set doesn't look tooo awful but a Blu upgrade would be nice.
>season 2 is a genuine masterpiece of television
What the fucking fuck? Season 2 was what literally killed the show. Morgan and Wong tried to turn it into a discount version of X-Files with all the
>le epic creepy organization mythology shit xD
They should have stayed with Frank solving the brutal crimes. Season 2 might have been filled with more darkness and demonic presence, further establishing Legion as Frank's arch-nemesis. And those idiots decided to go with X-Files: Seattle instead.
wat happen in the finale crossover
You mean the IDW comics? Mulder and Frank teamed up to investigate a series of ritual murders. Frank's daughter was already grown up and a member of Millennium group. In the end they all hang around in Frank's old basement and Jordan fucks up Legion with the Force or some shit. The end.
You mean that X-Files episode?
As I recall, a whole bunch of nothing.
Probably means the X-Files episode Millennium. Four zombie horsemen resurrected by an ex-Millennium group member. It's shit.
Oh, that. Yeah, it sucked.
Theres a millenium comic? Is it good?
Yeah so there was no closure
>Theres a millenium comic? Is it good?
A glorified fanfiction meant to close the unresolved plots. Not exactly "good", but it does the work, I suppose. I mean, it's not like we would get any other ending to the series.
Time Is Now is closure enough. It has already been said but the third season doesn't exist.
>Time Is Now
>closure
The "Horses" bit in the season 2 finale is pretty ballsy, an entire 10 minutes act of nothing but trippy apocalyptic visuals montage as a character slips into madness. FOX execs and the ads department must have shat their pants when they saw that. I haven't seen anything this ballsy on TV since ep 8 of The Return, and this was on a network channel. There's also a whole episode which is basically silent and influenced by Kobayashi's Kwaidan.
This show was way too intense for me sometimes. The evil and darkness is really heavy and stays with you in an unpleasant way.
Absolute kinography
Season 2 really tones it down though. Episodes like Gehenna are nowhere to be found after season 1 ends.
darin should have been given his own show
wats that
delete this thread now.
I don't want you reddit shit assholes to even know about this awesome show.
pls giv bleak, grainy, rain soaked and smoky, bathed in harsh shadows kinography in HD.
i remember this show from tv guides back from the 90s or so. gods i was young then.
Love the show
While it is underrated, if you seriously think it's 'much better' than the first three seasons of the X-files you need to lay off the crack.
Somehow Satan Got Behind Me
One of my absolute favorites.
