To fly across the galaxy so that a black man can fuck a white girl

To trick you into thinking that it had any substance to it, and seeing as you watched it 4 times, looks like it worked.

Why don't you dumb faggot go back to Sup Forums?

Sup Forums is a proud liberal board that doesn't tolerate racism.

It was a bad movie.

watch your mouth Sup Forums is a proud liberal board that doesnt tolerate homophobia

Mummy movie with a scifi paint job.

>WTF was the point of this movie?
That Jesus was an engineer.

Ridley wanted to make a Space Human Origin Kino and they forced him to tie it to Alien.

jesus isn't real you dumb inbred redneck

>what is fiction

AVP was a better Ancient Aliens movie. It was shit in many ways, but the Alien/Human/Predator dynamics was good compared to the Human/Engineer/Black Sludge Thing one both in the past and in the present.

There had to have been a better revelation when the engineer wakes up instead of him just killing people immediately....any ideas?

ancient aliens tv show kind of thing I guess, aliens made the aliens and we're also the aliens that the aliens aliened into space when they're not getting eaten by aliens that eat the other aliens made by the aliens.

Did you watch Giftbearer edit?

brainlet

Yeah, pay attention to the movie.

The movie takes place around 2090. The engineer was in suspended animation for over 2000 years, which is when they intended to destroy Earth. The implication is that something happened around 100AD that warranted such a response.

>tfw Prometheus is actually a smart movie in terms of its plot and brainlets label it dumb to feel superior over themselves

Why Prometheus ripped that android's head?

It was supposed to be the start of the David Cinematic Universe

>dat ridiculous amount of focus on David /Walter in Covenant
it was stupid af

Ridley unironically thought he was making some philosophical kino about evolution and creation but he just ended up making a shitty slasher in space with tryhard entry level philosophical dialogue in between

a solid film who's potential is ruined by the sequel

One reading is that David plays the role of the mythological Prometheus because of his rampancy/cruel rationality, whereas the xenomorph plays the role of mankind. David and the engineer's argument against us is that we're not all that significant, we were only meant to be the fire stolen, or the fertilizer, to spawn the perfect organism. It's a sci-fi tale that spits in our faces, trying to challenge our natural self-obsessiveness and pathetic dominance hierarchies. Like many horror films, it tries to make you feel insecure about your powerlessness; except this is the Alien franchise, so it's like the best one at doing that, ever.

A lot of people would claim that this isn't scary, but I always thought that the idea of us being forgotten biological manufacturers for indestructible mary sue spine popping Gigercat world destroyers and that being the entire significance of our existence as chilling. That mankind's greatest tool would rationalize that at our greatest potential we serve as compost for something more is kino

You can equate that degree of visionary psychopathy in David with the film Fight Club, with David as Tyler Durden's equal. Each performs a similarly cold archetype, having to subvert the societies that they belong to with feigned empathy so as to get what they really want; to contort their very nature into something they see as heavenly. As a result, each film is like a slow walk into the actualization of power and purpose through the eyes of a zealot. Alien: Covenant follows in this path, forwarding David's rampancy and devastation.

Good luck on giving a shit about any of that though. Most viewers just sperged about the lack of jump scares/body horror, call it trash, and let the memes fly; but that could never stop it's status as kino. The threads on here about it are incessant for a reason.

>”something happened around 100AD that warranted such a response”
>this is a good payoff for a story about the questions of humanity’s origin, the meaning of life, and the potential for immortality

You’re an idiot.

Nobody ever responds to well thought-out posts.
They just sit there and the thread gets longer, like they don't even exist.
Good job, user.

WTF was the point of the axe?

What. That's nothing like fight club. If anything that's sort of an anti-thesis to it.

That post was utter nonsense. The humans are aliens, and the aliens gave fire to their creation. It makes sense if you want to to be a natural thing where aliens created the aliens and then they created something alien and it created something alien. It just sounds like rambling nonsense. If you watch a movie like fight club the rambling nonsense is there but it's at least coherent enough that the characters caught up in it are not doing it to perpetuate that kind of stuff. It's questioning why you'd perpetuate it. Prometheus doesn't come anywhere close to any of that. If you wanted to draw a comparison to prometheus and Fight Club it'd be something like The android starts saying something that's suppose to be poetic and loosely translated it means I am Jack's sense of why in the fuck would this make sense to anyone?

go back to Sup Forums to be liberal degenerate

It's the first in a trilogy, so I could sort of forgive that it doesn't explain much.

HOWEVER, it had Lindelof working on it, so I doubt it was actually planned to go anywhere

Attached: 2dd.jpg (600x600, 37K)

holy fuck you are retarded

Lindelof learned JJ Abrams’s mystery box well. Create a massive epic setup to put butts in seats and then who gives a fuck if the story goes anywhere.

>So who is Snoke? And what is Rey's lineage? -Rian Johnson.
>Dunno, you try and figure something out. -JJ Abrams.

That's because he was the only interesting character so that's all Ridley had to work with, everything/everyone else was garbage.

wut

God is trying to tell you to turn from your fedora ways user.

We still have threads discussing Prometheus? Anyone ever watch the 2017 Workprint Cut?

it could have been a brilliant prequel to Alien but they fucked it up horribly in order to leave room for the equally bad real prequel, Alien Covenant.

seriously this movie starts out with them searching for a lost ship that looks exactly like the lost ship in the beginning of Alien. Why didn't they just make it the same ship? And the alien at the end the same alien in Alien?

>When it gets under your skin but you have no actual response

I never claimed to be smart or that your post irked me.

I thought Prometheus was a scifi horror movie set on a big spaceship, what am I confusing it with?

Nevermind, figured it out, it was Pandorum
