I find it so ironic that the guy who wrote a play about one of the founding fathers, who helped fight a bloody war against his own government, is now stumping for gun control. I highly doubt Hamilton would agree with this.
>But listen here, if Hammy were still kickin'
>He'd be signin' a petition
>Beggin' for Great Britain to confiscate ammunition
He'd also probably think unmanned drones and nuclear missiles were neat.
how the fuck is hamilton not the definition of cultural appropriation
Lol, Hamilton was practically a tyrant. He openly advocated for a monarchy-styled system of government. Learn a little bit about american history, faggot.
The whisky rebellion might have gone differently if such things were available to him
Isn't the theme of Hamilton the value of immigrants though? Ignoring the fact that he only ever moved from one British colony to another then helped start a war.
its a play about American history
Every actor in the play is American
I've listened to about half the album because I know a lot of theater kids. I don't think that's really a big part. It's kind of there, but not a super huge part. It's mostly just about Hamilton's life.
The music is pretty good, I have to admit.
Cultural appropriation doesn't count unless whites are doing the appropriating.
ah okay so i can make a play about martin luther king jr and make him white?
This play is so fucking masturbatory it's insane. Like, it would be one thing if Alexander Hamilton was really just this guy's hero so he wrote a musical that painted him out to be some kind of demigod, but Miranda fucking cast himself in the lead role. It's quite literally 3 hours of people jerking him off.
The theme is more about the opportunities that America affords immigrants, rather than the exaggerated importance of immigrants.
You can do anything you want, user.
is it cultural appropriation if i do though?
But Hamilton is an asshole throughout 80% of the musical
He accomplishes some big things, but he basically destroys the lives of everybody he comes into contact with.
Did you watch the musical? or listened to the soundtrack?
I honestly love Hamilton, but I always get bothered by the fact that:
- The only white actor is King George (and chickenshit Lee, maybe).
- They actually call the english "cops"
I mean, I get the point, but come on that's a bit on the nose
Hamilton is unironically kino
Groff is a qt
Do you think it would be cultural appropriation if you did That?
answer his question retard
>when the founding fathers quote Biggie Smalls and Grandmaster Flash during cabinet rap battles
>why are there black performers in a rap musical
He did get the best songs
>youtube.com
>not Guns and Ships
I saw it while it was still at the Public Theatre on Lafayette. It was garbage then, and from the snippets I've seen online of the Broadway production, it doesn't look like much has changed. But I will amend my previous statement, it's not just three hours of Miranda jerking himself off, it's also three hours of the play jerking the audience off. I used to tell people I had no idea why this is the Broadway's biggest show in recent memory, but honestly it makes perfect sense. It hits every pretentious New York theatre audience base. It jerks off New York itself (the GREATEST CITY IN THE WOOOO-UUUH----URRRR---URRRRR-URRRRRRRR-URRRRRRRRR-URRRRRR-ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD), it them think they're hip and progressive by embracing black culture, and it appeals to their need feel smart by making them think they give half a shit about history. It's one giant circle jerk for every person involved.
I don't believe in cultural appropriation. Do you?
Well, I think people said this over and over before, in the late 1700s, "arms" was mostly muskets and in some parts legitimately swords. Where if somebody went crazy with a rifle, he could kill maybe one or two people before basically anybody could bumrush the fuck.
That's a far-cry from the high capacity guns and automatic rifles one could reasonably carry today. So the founding fathers opinion on the matter of gun control, should be no more valid than the founding fathers opinion on Internet distribution and airline ticket prices.
Personally, as a germanfag I think our system works well enough.
>no heavy MGs
>no fully automatic
>no sawn offs
Other than that, get a license for your guns like a car, and it's all good, I don't see the problem in that? All these people were fine with taking their drivers test, surely they can do the same for their guns.
>Well, I think people said this over and over before, in the late 1700s, "arms" was mostly muskets and in some parts legitimately swords.
I don't think that's a good argument. It's like saying Freedom of the Press only applies to the literal printing press. Our founding fathers never could've known about the internet, and the ability to spread your thoughts around the world instantly.
Who is reasonably carrying an automatic weapon?
We DID have to adapt freedom of the press rules for new mediums like the internet
Your argument is self-defeating, and steeped in ignorance.
It's a bit different when you swap it around for the whole play.
Patrick Stewart once did a race inverted production of "Othello", with him as othello and everyone else being portrayed by black actors. His reasoning was that these black theatre kids always only get to play othello and nobody else, and he never got the chance to play him because when he wanted too, it was not appropriate any more to "black up" for the part. So he switched the whole play around, and even left the dialogue intact.
Well, if you get a good enough crew together to make a statement, I think it could be done. The thing is: have it be an artistic choice, that way it's right.
So you agree that gun control works?
Shut up fag
People were allowed to own cannons and ships back in the day. Also, semi automatic firearms did exist, Lewis and Clarke took one on their expedition. No I'm not joking.
No one wants a license for their guns and they shouldn't have to take a test REQUIRED by the government to obtain a firearm. Germany is literally cuckolded on firearm rights, you have no castle doctrine, you have no concealed carry so shut the fuck up about American gun laws which you know nothing about.
