Why do people (pretend to) hate it?

Why do people (pretend to) hate it?

I've never seen it, heard it was shit. Then my suitemate who's a big Indiana Jones fan said he saw it opening day and it was great. Should I watch it?

It's not amazing but it's not shit.
I honestly don't understand the hate.

it's coz of that younger faggot. scenes with him suck balls, and hanging up with monkeys was just dumb

I only hate it, part time

it feels really fucking forced and lame, not cool like the other indiana jones movies. I loved those growing up and I couldn't believe how disappointing it was to watch this shit in the theater

it was on par with Temple of Doom... maybe even a hair better

>pretend to
Because
>MUH 50s nostalgia
And
>lol fridge
We're merely cringy, but the alien pyramids was pure shit.
It felt like the cash grab it was.

People always complain about the monkey part or the fridge.
It's stupid okay, but it doesnt ruin the movie

nuke scene
Shia lebouf
Ford is old
ayy lmao

I saw it when it released, twice, loved it

I watched it last night it's still great

By contrast last time I watched Last Crusade I was surprised by how mediocre it is

Raiders and Doom are both forever perfect

Blanchett’s accent in this is the worst I’ve heard outside of television.
Also, opening on CGI gophers was a tremendous mistake.

you're a fucking idiot

Because the last Indiana Jones movie was released almost 20 years back then, so people were expecting a great reason to bring back Indiana. It's not the worst movie ever, but really failed to live to the hype, and also, the Lucas fans were still licking the bounds of the Star Wars prequels.

Because it was unnecessary.

Also, fucking aliens.

Also, refrigerators.

Also, Harrison Ford has been phoning it in for years.

Also, Shia.

Raiders > Last Crusade > Temple of Doom > [power gap] > Kingdom of the Alien Refrigerators

I never got the hate for it, is solid, not a blatant flaw in anything

I think the expectations were extremely high because it was Indiana Jones

Fuck off.

Because you had to deal with Shia the entire movie

Is it a worse sequel than Jurassic World or SW7?

Ah, so we're in that cycle of a movie's existence that Sup Forums has decided to be contrarians. Cool. GOt it.

literally identical to those in both tone and quality as well as respect the creators had for the original (only a cursory respect)

Nuke fridge

>last crusade that high
>shit mcguffin
>shit villain
>'hitler wants the grail but he doesn't' story makes no sense
>sallah and brody are retards
>nazis again
>desert chase again
>raiders again

The other three are way better

Attached: irina_filmreview.jpg (622x748, 95K)

You forgot to mention the vaseline filter that makes everything look like a cartoon.

>brody is a retard

Even though I love that film, I agree 100%. His character is this bizarre, elderly Down Syndrome manchild.

Jurassic World is the least offensive of those three, because it was only ever supposed to be a silly popcorn flick.

SW7 isn't good, but it's also not bad. It's just derivative. The saving grace is that the underlying story, taken from the first, is fine. It's unoriginal, but it's not offensive or poorly made.

Indiana Jones and Frigidaire™ is both a shit story and is poorly made.

>Harrison Ford has been phoning it in for years
I legitimately don't understand why he still acts. Does he really need the money? He's just turned into this grumpy, lazy asshole.

Obviously it's because Shia Lebluff is a bad actor.

DUDE TEMPLE OF DOOM WAS RACIST AND SEXIST AS HELL MAAAAAAAAAAN WOMEN CAN BE STRONK

He probably feels he's obliged to make as much money as possible for his family before kicking the bucket.

>that projection
Temple is probably my favorite but it is the outlier

I don't remember anything about it except CG ants and aliens

The movie is heavily reliant on digital sets, which feels strange in an Indiana Jones film since we're used to lots of epic, exotic location shoots.

I like the movie but it's definitely got a weird, fake feeling to it compared to the others.

Only if you really like Ancient Aliens

It's a shame, because he seems like an informed, competent scholar on the same page as Indy in the first one, he even laments not being able to search for the Ark with him.

In Crusade he's demoted to a scatterbrained fool who gets lost in his own museums.

>Because it was unnecessary.
Just about every film is unnecessary, including every Indiana Jones film.

>Also, fucking aliens.
Except the other films had supernatural shit in it already.

>Also, refrigerators.
That scene where they use a life raft as a parachute was way worse (and it was great).

>Also, Harrison Ford has been phoning it in for years.
He phoned it in for the first one. Fuck, one of the greatest scenes in the first one only exists because he phoned it in.

>Also, Shia.
Legit.

Agreed.

A lot of the film was shot on sets and used practical effects.

Why do people over the age of 14 pretend to like other Indiana Jones movies?

Yeah, The Last Crusade is overrated. It's not quite as bad as Crystal Skull, but it does have that "let's just repeat everything from the first movie that everyone liked, but make it audience pander more, more goofy humor, and have a religious story that's not as good." At least Temple of Doom does something different and gets fucking weird and politically correct and is accurate that women are really hysterical harpies who act even more hysterical because Indiana refuses to plow their pussy.

*politically incorrect

No reason to come with a retarded story when the books are a 100% better.

Most films not made by Zack Snyder do, but there's something very compelling about putting this mythic treasure hunter alongside beautiful, old, real world locales, which doesn't happen in Crystal Skull

But like I said, good movie

(Yeah I know bridge in pic related was built for the movie but hey)

Attached: temple.jpg (950x404, 192K)

They were in real world locales though.

>be 11
>huge Indy fan, always have been
>see Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
>think it’s pretty good, buy it on DVD with the rest of the series
>never watch it

>2018
>see original trilogy rereleased in Santa Monica
>kino, each one of them
>feellikeakidagain.jpg
>few days later, remember that Kingdom DVD
>ask girlfriend if she wants to watch it
>”No I heard it suck”
>sit down one morning
>watch it

It’s honestly not as bad as people say. The first half is pretty good and captures the tone of the first three. The fridge is retarded but one scene out of the first hour doesn’t ruin.

The second half is where it gets worse. The car chase CGI, the monkeys, and aliens are stupid, but the character interactions make up for it imo. I actually like Shia in it, abd Karen Allen isn’t bad at reprising her role, either. Blanchett is okay, but the British partner is unnecessary and probably the worst character in the series.

Not a great movie, but it isn’t a travesty.

The bit in the jungle is bad but the temple stuff is good, and yeah, Mudd was a pretty good character. In fact, I wouldn't have mind if they'd passed the torch onto him and the next movie was a Mudd movie, but that obviously will never happen.

Looking bad it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. But it did ruin my image of Marion though

Raiders - 7/10
Temple - 7/10
Crusade - 7/10
Kingdom - 6/10

The worst scene in the movie is the part where Indy and Marian are sinking in quicksand, and Mutt tries to save them by telling them to pull on a snake. Why a snake? There weren't any branches around? Wouldn't this hurt the snake? It's like they knew they had to have a scene to remind the audience that Indy is afraid of snakes but couldn't figure out how to naturally integrate it into the movie so they came up with this contrived scene. It's like something out of a mad tv sketch.

Same. I think if they fixed some of the narrative problems and stupid scenes, Shia could’ve had a chance at being the next Indy

Pretend my arse. Fuck you! This flick stinks.
