It was but the studio bureaucrats/marketers came to the conclusion that people are too stupid to figure out it's a stand-alone sequel to Sicario so they renamed it Sicario 2: Soldado. Then they decided that it won't attract people who think they need to see the first film to get this one so they dropped the 2. Then they tried to make Sicario: Soldado not sound as weird so they added 'Day of'.
