>the hero is going through a dark phase
>acts more antiheroic
>is helped and reverted to normal by the antihero/villain of all people, who respects the hero too much to let them forget themselves
Tropes you love

This sounds retarded. Example?

This is literally ass, and you should kill yourself.
Punisher stopping Daredevil from going antihero that one time.
Gtfo newfag
>boys vs girls episode
>girls gets curb stomped, humiliated and apologize for coming up with such stupid idea.
Not really a trope, but does anybody know of any media where just saying a character's name wakes another character from sleep instantly? I can't remember where I had seen this before, and I am absolutely sure I have.
Flash Thompson in Specitacular Spider-Man
>Villain is an abstract evil, usually ancient, far beyond our understanding, and the hero shows legitimate fear of it
Just saw "Curse of Fenric" and got a boner from the Doctor explaining Fenric. Also the Radical Destruction Bringer in Ultraman Gaia.
I dont really know if this counts, but I was just listening to it, so whatever,
In the musical war of the worlds, a parson is presumed dead by the main character until the parsons wife calls his name.

Its like, 30 seconds in.
Joker in Dark Knight Returns
just like the man who spent their entire lifes at war don't want it to end because it's the only reality they know so will the anti hero whose entire purpose in life is to fight the hero try to preserve the status quo
nothing stupid about it
>the comedy relief has the highest body count
>villain has a code of honor and respect for the heroes
>villain joins the heroes and becomes the most morally questionable character of the group
>duel under the rain, thunders sounding in the background while the scenery is on fire
>hero and villain are forced to use their adversary's weapon
When did this ever happen?
>small character starts a fight by ripping off his clothes
>he's suddenly three times the size and jacked to hell
>endgame villain is about to finish off the hero
>main villain comes in and BTFOs the endgame villain because nobody's allowed to kill the hero but him
>protag is the epitome of single mindedness
>doesn't give two shits about morals or what's right. Only cares about his goal
>he's psychically incapable of thinking/doing something that doesn't relate to his goal in some way or another
>The pacifist character gets into a fight
>Doesn't fight back for a while
>getting pretty beat up
>suddenly he snaps
>It's revealed that he doesn't like fighting because he beats his opponents to near death
>He really enjoys fighting
Or
>Main hero and main villian enjoy beating the tar out of each other
>Pacifist is actually a sadistic person and is an absolute beast in actual combat
The closest I know to this happening is that Chaotic episode where the male character won using only female creatures against the resident bully bitch who used only male creatures.
>two characters are fighting
>their fight moves into an elevator
>cuts to the two of them patiently waiting inside the elevator until the doors open and they resume their fight
>cue an awkward exchange between them to pass the time
>small character starts a fight by ripping off his clothes
>he's suddenly three times the size and jacked to hell

SPIRIT OF MAN, YES SON
>Hero threatens to kill the villain if he doesn't stand down
>Villain mocks him and doubts that he has the balls to do it
>Hero kills villain mid-taunt, leaving him with a look of shock/horror on his face after death
>Person asks their opponent how they did their plan
>Opponent: "Ha, I'm not telling you."
> hero team goes missing
> alternate team of fan-favorites and D-listers is formed to search for original team
>Character chasing their enemy
>They make sure to avoid collateral damage at all times, even when they risk getting caught or falling behind
>Characters fighting on the street
>They stop the fight and move to the sidewalk so a car can pass by
Just anything that suddenly stops the action for an awkward amount of time is perfect
Or
>They continue fighting in the elevator
>The elevator stops to arrive to a called floor
>People calmly go inside and ignore the fight going on
>the episode ends with a song that compliments the episode and tone of the ending

In the Sonic OVA and sort of in the Digimon movie.
...
>Borderline omnipotent being that can easily solves all the problems in the the world starts fucking with people because eternity is boring.
Anyone got them fucking with baddies? I need Mxy fucking with Brianiac/Luthor.
Immortal characters trying to find a way to die or in Made in Abyss' case, finding a way to put down your immortal retard of a friend in the most humane way possible. Both hilarious and depressing.
Villain whose goals are almost better than the protag's > God complex villain >>>>>>>>>>>> all other villains
dunno about Sup Forums media but Sup Forums has those
>Heroes eventually growing more jaded and bitter and cynical as they deal with more and more of the bullshit they're supposed to stop.
>It never stops.
>Hero eventually snaps and becomes the big bad.
>boys vs girls episode
>a member of the boy's team and a member of the girl's team team up and win the competition
>Time travel episode
>hero is launched forward into a hellscape future where the villain rules all
>Plucky comedic sidekick became the leader of the resistance and grew to become a hero in his own right
or hell any time the comedic sidekick becomes a proper hero and not merely because he bumbled into a position to interrupt the villains' plans
Interested to see any Sup Forums stuff about that bcause I also like that shit but dunno about it in Sup Forums, there is alot in Sup Forums though if you want to know some titles abuot that
i like the trope where hero with semi ridiculous power becomes leader of the group and he's great at it.
I'm sure me and friends have come up with ways for how a hero with stupid powers could be awesome, but I'm not sure I've ever seen it done
what did that appear in?
What if
>an episode of something begins, JUST like a Boys vs Girls episode
>Secondary character says "ugh, it's a Boys Vs Girls Episode?"
>buggers off to do something else for the whole show.
>comes back right at the end and finds nothing but chaos and destruction that had occured whilst they'd been away
>main character isn't the most powerful of the group nor the weakest
>Boys vs girls episode
>The boys win because one of the boys sneaked into the girls side in drag and is the sole reason why the girls "won".
>main characther is the weakest compared to the other guys but has successfully faked being the strongest around by using only wit/cleverness alone
>cyborg villain
>small character starts a fight by ripping off his clothes
>he's suddenly three times the size and jacked to hell
>weak character uses their brains to overcome a situation which is being solved through strenght by everyone else
>characters start out as rivals
>slowly come to appreciate each other's skills
>end up as close friends with a friendly rivalry
>protagonists finally face off against the big bad
>all the friends and allies they made on their journey come stand behind them
>USE THE WABBAJACK
>The rival also got married but unlike the main characther He ends being a way better husband/father than MC
>heroic character turns bad because of actual unresolved issues in their past, either in combination with brainwashing or not
>formerly heroic brainwashed character is more competent as a villain
>a character is so stupid that the said character negates and ignores all kinds of temptations, spells, intimidations, threats, and dangers from the enemies.
>the said idiot ends up saving the day.
>Use the Wabbajack
>Imp turns into a fucking Xivilai
>Get raped
>Parents protect their child
>Kick the shit out of attacker
>Kid is super proud of their parents
Thats actually awesome
Slayer from Guilty Gear. I love that smug vampire
I see what you did there.
>transformation episode
>character turns back to normal at the end, but there's hints that still have physical and/or psychological leftovers from their transformation
>god tier mode: there's occasionally subtle references to this for the rest of the series
>something absurd happens
>character deadpanly says "I hate this (setting)."
>character is so amicable and friendly that they'll help anybody, even somebody they know is a villain
Sadly, this isn't really a trope, because it is so fucking rare, hell, I can only think of 2 times i've seen it, but I love it.
>Hero is training to be a hero.
>Mentor tells them about dark, evil power up.
>Hero uses it.
>Turns out that the dark, evil power up is banned for a fucking reason and hero proceeds to never even contemplate using it again.
>character has a weakness the villain is exploiting
>villain threatens love interest, side kick or civilians
>hero overcomes weakness through sheer grit
>Sidekick grows up and takes on Mantle of hero.
>Proceeds to be better at it than their mentor.
I love it especially when we get the:
>Hero is thought dead, Villains are on rampage
>One villain gloating over how Hero is gone and now he is free to do whatever he wants.
>Hero drops down in front of them.
>"Wait, you're dead!!!"
>It's Sidekick in Hero's costume.
Fuck you all, I prefer Dick as Batman over Bruce. And I prefer Wally over Barry.
>Character has Weakness and knows Villain is going to exploit it
>Villain lures hero to location
>Hero comes with his "Weakness-proof costume" on.
Why doesn't Clark go to every fight against Lex in his Lead-Lined suit?
Steve Buscemi in Igor
>character is angry
>anger leads to character doing something that has them fall over
>after they hit the ground, the anger dissipates and they just look up at the sky
>Dick as Batman over Bruce
>Not Terry
[NEWFAG DETECTED]
MAtrix
NEWFAG
Now this is the thing, much better than that petty sex war shit
Anyways I like
>comic relief character, good or bad guy
>turns out they can be incredibly powerful when they want to
>boys vs girls episode
WHERE THE FUCK DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN FIND THESE
Seriously, I can barely think of a single one.
War of Jokes and Riddles arc
>the villain is friends with his henchmen, or at least treats them professionally
Not saying he has to be an anti-villain or weep when they die or anything, but it always seems more realistic when the villain is actually able to work with people.
There was this Character from the HIVE series of YA novels who creeped out the main character because he would go from deep sleep to awake almost instantly
>villain just does whatever it wants because it wants to make the story interesting
>initial rival/antagonist demoted to comic relief after defeat
>still competent when push comes to shove
Can't think of any examples off the top of my head except for Lord Hater and best boy
>second
Hate's great! Best villain!
>I DONT NEED A RANDOM CLOWN GIVING ME A DEUS EX MACHINA
>I DO WHAT I WANT AND ARGUE WITH THE AUTHOR OF MYSELF
He didn't like clocks. One of those clocks just so happened to be real important.
>Character is so stupid that mental attacks don't work.
Portal 2 is my favourite example. Wheatly is so dumb he couldn't get defeated with a logical paradox.
>the big bad trashes the hero
>a villain takes that as a personal offence and picks up the fight
I should really read that Black Manta vs anti-JL comic.
Any other good villain vs villain stories?
I feel like I saw this happen before, but I don't know where.
Only it was like boys VS girls was about to happen and like half of each side exchanged looks and backed away while the main boy and the main girl were going through their idiot boasts and they were left to compete on their own while everyone else went back to having a good time.
>protag is the epitome of single mindedness
>doesn't give two shits about morals or what's right. Only cares about his goal
>he's psychically incapable of thinking/doing something that doesn't relate to his goal in some way or another
So Goku and "MUH STRONG GUYS"
>Villain joins Team B after being defeated.
>character is strong because of hard work and determination, rather than special powers or some chosen one bullshit
Doesn't matter if it's a hero or a villian.
>fight is happening in a place that's becoming increasingly destroyed/dangerous but the fighters don't care
Namek saga best saga.
>multiple characters tell the same story in different ways
These episodes quickly become one of my favorites in a series.
I prefer more
>Fighting scene
>Fighters keep fighting inside an elevator.
>Action Music gets replaced by Elevator music, and fighters get muted.
nah
>protagonist's mental or physical state is degrading and they must complete a goal before they succumb to it
>Team battle.
>Actual synergy combos between their unique abilities.
>Partner is taken down.
>Character takes revenge for this and manages to solo the opposite team
>protagonist successfully faked being the strongest, but antagonist reveales the thuth anyway and kick his sorry ass
>protagonist true love or bff come to save his life
Balefire; enough said.
>russian foreigner character trying to fit in to american society
Hero keeps old costumes on display.
>it's a Bush administration episode
>Bushes fly a plane into a building to have an excuse for their so-called "War on Terror"
I get that it's exactly how it happened in real life, but can we get some variation?
>the story ends with the protagonist cured at the cost of his/her friend
RIP ankh T_T
>brainwashed to obelisk white and duel other obelisk blue to make them join obelisk white
>later after being unbrainwashed he duel the same obelisk white and turn them back to obelisk blue again
>also he won the tournament while he's at it
Manjoume is great
>"I always felt this place was missing a real villain. Hence my humble contribution"
You mean the thing that Rand just kept using?
That's only Super version of Goku. DBZ Goku loved fighting but he was a straight-up hero and a loveable goofball. Then Toriyama got complete creative freedom for DBS and turned Goku into a retard obsessed with fighting strong guys, even if it means putting entire universe at risk.
