CGI

Why can't they do it right anymore?

Attached: 1.jpg (1366x1139, 515K)

i think the actual design of the suit and the way it's colored/saturated makes a huge difference

laziness
cheapness

if comparing the two pictures user submitted, definitely

The Infinity War one is even worse.

I dropped the MCU when Tony's suit kept getting worse and worse in terms of design in every newer movie.

The top one looks even better in motion.

They’re literally just making movie-length video game cutscenes now. Disgusting.

because the fans are so dumb and lazy the producers just don't care anymore

the capeshit factory can shell out something that resembles an old reboot episode and it will still make a billion dollars worldwide

IM 2 and Avengers was peak suit design, his suits had weight and felt that they could take a beating.

you are incredibly articulate for a 2 year old. honestly impressed.

Is this the birth of an epic new meme?

They can but why should they when nobody calls their shit out?

jesus christ it looks like something out of the late 90s

Well...Tony traded older durable designs for newer flexible ones. He made the armors lighter, and could be put on incredibly fast. If you look at the old armors, they are essentially chunks of heavy metal bolted onto a frame. There aren't many weak areas. The chest piece alone was massive and THICC. The new ones fold open elegantly like a paper crane, and wrap gently around Tony. But in order to do that, he made them lighter, and less durable. Good choice? Who knows.

>Good choice?
obviously not

Somebody saw the Power Rangers movie and said "THAT'S WHAT IRON MAN'S NEW SUIT SHOULD LOOK LIKE."

>being this pathetic

He still had a prop rig in Civil War you dumb fuck

They just fucked up on color correction and touch-ups

Attached: hqdefault[1].jpg (480x360, 27K)

Actually for Ironman 1,2 he wears an upper body practical suit, thats why it looks good in post.

No, it's exactly the same as the in-comic Bleeding Edge armor which is the logical conclusive extreme of the Iron Man armor. If this is the final film with Iron Man in it, it would make sense for Bleeding Edge to make an appearance.

He does in Civil War too.

you made it, you're a meme now, at least for me

Because the mouse doesn't even have to try anymore to get people to watch this shit.

Attached: mouse.png (200x252, 9K)

The top one was an actual suit, they only used CG for the legs back then. The chest, shoulders and arms were real.

In action it was all cg of course, but for talking and close ups it was a suit. Theres a behind the scenes of him sittin in that giant donut and you can see the leg markers.

Also the old suits were way cooler.

bruh, look at this dood

wait till you see the f-

oh ho ho no no no no no

ohhhhhhhh

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD

HAHAHAHA LOOK AT HIS LIPS!

Because they know they don't have to.

technology advancing always makes /m/ stuff look more shit
also something about antman

He was probably paid much more for bottom pic. That lets less money for CGI

Why did the CGI get worse over the course of 7 years instead of getting better?

Attached: spong.png (713x433, 484K)

That is literally not CG, genius

Attached: 1031171-cwa0460mpsrc1006-1200.jpg (1200x632, 54K)

based antman

Attached: antman.png (736x369, 306K)

I love this meme.

Honestly, the top image is over saturated/piss filtered and looks fake because of it.

The bottom image looks like his face was copy pasted ontop of a robot and looks fake because of it.

if you were to focus solely on the suit and not the head, I think the bottom looks better CGI-wise. The top looks like cheap materials to make a suit of cosplay armor.

Both are pretty shit if you ask me.

The funny thing is that only war machine and the BG are cgi.

Attached: ghost.gif (540x300, 814K)

Oh fug, I was half wrong.

They don't need to try because everyone will go see it anyway so producers get to save all that money. And the yearly releases mean the vfx artists only have time to get it to a passable state.

>why did CGI get worse
it didn't it got better to the point you don't need CGI to be 24fps, or blurred/noised to shit for it to look acceptable now. Just because they can take all those filters and effects out now and it still looks acceptable doesn't mena it's worse. it's better, hiding CGI into movies hasn't gotten better though and is a lost art.

I remember watching this movie when I was 13 and looking forward to all the great superhero movies we were going to get
A decade later and this is still the only good one

Excluding the Batman trilogy?

Infinity War being done the exact same way too

Attached: 234532452.jpg (590x875, 86K)

>virgin walk

two entirely different processes. in the originals they filmed Downey Jr on location and animated the suit around his mo-capped movements

lately they've been entirely animating the thing and imposing his head onto the result. easier to prototype scenes and make changes to the script if necessary but it looks like shit

the first image he's wearing a practical costume you dumb DCuck

fuck I need to rewatch this now. truly the only marvelkino

No, you're wrong and continue to be wrong.

Why you faggots keep perpetrating this shit only to be BTFO every time is beyond me.

The majority isn't interested in seeing Iron Man bleeding armor from his bones. Get real. Armor should stay armor.

The first was shot on film and the second on digital with no color grading.

>The majority
will like what marvel tells them to like

notice how in the OP top pic Tony's actually wearing a long-necked shirt that would pad his neck from where his suit would hit it

in all the others he'd tear the shit out of his neck

Because the top, RDJ is actually wearing a large heavy part of the suit. The bottom is mostly CGI. RDJ is only wearing a very light weight plastic stand-in (that gets replaced with CGI) and a bunch of CGI stickers to help CGI artists copy paste the armor. Because the bottom is shot on a green screen, it has to lit evenly for the green screen the work. The top is an actual donut shop. RDJ hated wearing the heavy armor from the 1st and 2nd movies (especially the 1st), and made them agree to use CGI for later films.

It's impossible nowadays to show a blockbuster with heroes killing muslims.

It's like a Power Rangers episode

Not the user you are replying to, but Tony needs to put on the armors faster. He nearly got killed in IM2 because it was taking too long to put the armor on. That's why he gave up heavier slow armors. Whats the point if you aren't protected? Better to be able to suit up anywhere anyplace in a few seconds than a full minute with robo arms helping you.

These are the actual reasons for the changes. In the artbooks, comics, and behind the scenes confirm. The Avengers 4 new armor is completely sealed now to prevent something like Ant Man from shrinking and messing with his suit.

no, there are only two, you forget the
>winterkino.

Isn't his IW suit made of Vibranium or some shit? He's using super-futuristic materials at this point.

Kind of surprised they haven't gone full Extremis yet, since they tapped that storyline.

there should have been a better balance, i really hated how weak it was in iron man 3 and the movies since then

How did we go from this

Attached: Iron.Man.BluRay.1080p.x264.5.1.Judas_7.webm (900x376, 2.9M)

no moron, they fucked up the entire cgi . its cheap and fucking lazy as that dude said.

To this?

Attached: rian costumes.webm (720x304, 2.82M)

to THIS!?

Attached: Avengers.Age.of.Ultron.2015.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS_6.webm (900x378, 2.85M)

Regardless of how it's shot, the end result looks like a copy-paste job and that's where they fucking blew it.

That's a stunt double, and not RDJ nor Don Cheadle.

The actors refused to wear them even in closeups

Absolute brainlet.

hey everyone

hi

>that sonic the hedgehog spin from Thor
*inhales*

Attached: 1448332965285.jpg (257x244, 20K)

Why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time we try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.

Even worse than the shit CGI is that fucking awful colour grading.

Reds don't look red, gold looks like a putrid yellow and blacks all look grey as fuck. Literally can anyone who's working on a movie this size look at that and say it looks fine?

Attached: 1498331580121.png (317x392, 134K)

Iron Man 3 sucked because the Director Shane Black never read Iron Man or any comics. He even bragged about how he only read 2 Iron Man stories to prepare for the movie.

Shane Black hadn't directed or had a movie job since Lethal Weapon 4 in 1998. That was 14 years before IM3. Why did Marvel pick him? He was out of work. RDJ owed him a favor from back in the day. So he told Marvel to pick Shane for IM3 as director.

In the civil war commentary, the directors stated they wanted to tone down Iron Man's presence. They got rid of (most) of the mechanical sounds from the suit, and dulled the colors. "Shiny Iron Man" would distract the viewers eye.

>My turn, you fucking subhuman ragheads!
Jesus Christ, how did Favreau get away with this?

Attached: Iron.Man.BluRay.1080p.x264.5.1.Judas_4_4.webm (900x376, 2.98M)

>CG complaint thread
>The example isn't CG

Every time.

That doesn't work when they remove the colour from everything else too.

Absolute brainlets.

then why does it look so shit

>letting sticom directors do blockbuster movies
Why?

doesn't matter the suits have been shit since then

They CG over all the props so technically it still is.

>In the civil war commentary, the directors stated they wanted to tone down Iron Man's presence.
why?

>Beam Thor is holding at the end just disappears

WTF?

The movie isn't called Iron Man: Civil War

Attached: xD.png (472x716, 596K)

KEK it's like that part in the new Fantastic Four where the top of the tank literally poofs out of existence and into a fiery effect from adobe after effects.

>lmao lets make him look dull and take away the sounds that make him sound real

god that was bad. anybody has a webm of it?

>anybody has a webm of it?
kill yourself nigger

it's easier to CGI when everything looks the same.

Christ, the armor in the first IM actually looked like it had some weight. Now Tony treats it like a second skin, terrible.

>Use stunt double because RDJ is not tall enough

This kind of colour grading isn't really my taste at all, but at least it makes sense regarding the movie's plot. It's all about the boundary and friendships vanishing and fading away, and the greyish filter represents that cold feelign pretty well maybe.

I spent ages trying to get myself a pair of those exact sunnies

Never did ;_; they'd stopped making them by the time the movie was out. DJ must have had them for awhile, they were already out of production and stores by the films release

>It's a terrible design but the lore explains it so it's okay

woah, so deep.

Not really. It's more like highschool media course knowledge. You really have to overinterpret Marvel flicks or go into detail with external socio-cultural models to get something deep out of those flicks. They are fun, but ultimately they are also like the fast-food of modern cinema. They taste good kind of but they are also not good for you if you only consume them.

The earlier movie Iron Man suit was a copy of his most iconic look designed by comic book legends. It defined how the character looked from that point on.

It's been degrading from that point on since new designers brought on have "better ideas".

it was sarcasm.

it was a different time....

stop making capeshit threads you goddamn normie brainlets
