There's probably four main groups, with two of them meeting up:
>Thor, Groot, Rocket
>Quill, Gamora, Drax, Mantis
>Iron Man, Strange, Spider-Man, Wong
>Hulk, War Machine, Falcon, Black Panther, Black Widow, Cap, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Bucky
Quill, Gamora, Drax, and Mantis will meet up with Iron Man, Strange, Wong, and Spider-Man on Titan, Thanos' abandoned planet. Cap and all the Wakanda crew will stay in Wakanda. Thor, Groot, and Rocket are heading out to make a new weapon for Thor.

This. It's actually pretty simple. It's not like most of these characters will have much screentime anyway. It'll mainly be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk that get the most focus.

Everything I've read says this movie is about Thanos and his backstory, and the heroes are just like the foil to Thanos. So since we know everything about them already it seems like Thanos is just doing his thing and they try to stop him, rather than the heroes doing their thing.

Thanos is so powerful I don't see how anyone other than Thor can do anything to him.

Hulk doesn't even stand a chance. Thanos WITHOUT glove can basically kill all of these people, even Dr. Strange.

I don't know what the fuck Spider-Man is supposed to do. Thanos would just tear his head off.

Cap broke most of them out of the Raft at the end of Civil War and left Bucky in Wakanda as part of asylum from the US government. The only ones that really stand out are Black Widow and War Machine.

Thor at full power can stand up to Thanos. He can't defeat Thanos. With glove, it's over.

It'll be interesting to see what they do. In the comics, the only reason thanos lost is because he merged with the universe and the glove fell to the ground and they were able to get the glove at that point and reverse the changes.

Those are Wakandan shields, since he left his shield with Tony at the end of Civil War.

Is there any point in the comics where a really powerful bad guy teams up with the good guys to take down a common really powerful threat? That's my favorite trope.

In the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Nebula takes the gauntlet after Thanos goes literal galaxy brain and forgets about his physical form. Thanos then teams up with the Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, and Adam Warlock to beat Nebula with Gauntlet..

In the current Thanos comic line, Thanos basically kills everyone. Frank Castle, the Punisher, is killed by falling debris and is pissed no one will remember him for going out in blazes. So he makes a deal with Mephisto to become the next Ghost Rider, getting all of those powers. Eventually, Galactus comes to Earth and the only person left is Frank Castle Ghost Rider. Castle makes a deal with Galactus that Galactus can eat Earth, if he can become a Herald of Galactus. So now the Punisher has all the powers of the Ghost Rider and the Silver Surfer. Galactus still loses to Thanos. The last three surviving figures in the universe are Thanos, an indestructible Hulk who Thanos keeps as a pet, and Frank Castle Ghost Rider who has gone completely insane.

Isn't that Hawkeye above Mantis, to Cap's left? Or is that someone else?
