>How do you boys feel about the rumour that Costa is coming back to IDW?

Depends....

is he doing GI Joe, cause i heard he was good with it.

Transformers....i hope not, unless Roberts is with him, they surprisingly made an okay duo. The guy still can't accept Transformers as people but robotic.

Just finished rereading AHM.
What about it do people not like?

Only bit I'm sore on is Hunter's fate.

I'm in the same boat as you.

The whole plays out like a movie. S'cool.

The whole thing, that is.

Red pill me on Megs

It was a self contained, ignoring all prior story elements, and a soft reboot:
tfwiki.net/wiki/All_Hail_Megatron#Discrepancies
>Most visibly, several characters were redesigned into their original Generation 1 forms. Like the Seekers going from F-22 back to F-15s
>Virtually all of the new technologies Furman introduced during his run such as Ultra-Energon, the Magnificence, and holomatter avatars were entirely discarded

which one?

He tried his best.

He was entirely wrong. Organics weren't the threat to Cybertron, magic is.

I'm glad First Strike still hasn't been storytimed, because god damn was that issue a piece of fucking shit.

Beside it ignoring everything written before it on every level, Barber and Roberts had later retcons that helps the story gel better with the broader IDWverse.

If you had to bring back one shelved villain or villain team which would you bring back and how?

Source?

Storytime when?

Definitely not them.

It ignores the revelations four parter and Maximum Dinobots that preceeded it but works well enough with the ending of Escalation(? I get my -actions confused) and the supporting Spotlights.

Banzai-Tron and his Decepticon Secret Service

I would bring back Lugnut, my son deserves more than this.

It's a rumor, user. That means there's no concrete source, it started popping up in the later parts of last thread.

>and the supporting Spotlights.
>Spotlight Blurr
Flashback issue
>Spotlight Jazz
Tracks telling a Jazz flashback story
>Spotlight Drift
Second half actually ties into AHM
>Spotlight Cliffjumper
stand alone story of Cliff stranded on a random planet
>Spotlight Metroplex
Sixshot vs Throttlebots in space.

> but works well enough with the ending of Escalation(? I get my -actions confused)
It was Devastation and that ended with the Reapers coming to earth and Galvatron scouting for Nova Prime.

>I would bring back Lugnut, my son deserves more than this.

It bothers me that Lugnut along with Bulkhead and Rhinox exist in IDW but are currently MIA.

The Necrobot thing should have been a good excuse to bring them back into the fold.

Bulkhead could've been great for the Rod Squad. he could be a bit like his Animated self in that he's good with engineering and can be some great muscle for fights.

Lugnut....well he'd be there for Megatron ready to be all up in business annoying him to no end but with Megatron gone....there isn't much for him to do. Probably deconstruct the idea of a Megatron loyalist without Megatron, kinda like a reverse Tarn, what if Lugnut learned to find a new meaning in life. I dunno.

Granted Lugnut would be a total jobber if he fought since he'd be too overpowered.

Rhinox though....I am damn convinced that he got shadowplayed into Fat Tankor....it's just a matter of time till that's revealed.

>and holomatter avatars were entirely discarded

Well not so much anymore.

AND Spotlight Kup.

But long and short of why people diss on it is because it's a soft reboot?

>Probably deconstruct the idea of a Megatron loyalist without Megatron
I was thinking more along the lines of he's 100x more loyal to Megatron than the Decepticons. So loyal, that he slowly learns to change all his Decepticon speeches into Autobot ones to better please Megatron.

He could even bring Megs back from the functionalist universe. Out of the power of sheer loyalty alone.

I agree, but during AHM it was only used by Hound just like Muh GEEWUN. It was going back to the '84 status quo that burnt a lot of readers, back then. Sure Roberts and Barber have added to the lore to help smooth over any bumps AHM had. "But Back Then" it was getting everyone's jimmies rattled.

B-but only organics believe in magic. Sane bots believe in the giant robo father in the sky called Primus and the Chaos Bringer. This is all based on sensible data, albeit there is a lot of information creep envolved.

>But long and short of why people diss on it is because it's a soft reboot?
why do you think people still cry for Furman's return to this very day? Change scares people. Continuity is a double edge blade.

>Organics weren't the threat to Cybertron, magic is.
I hope logical Shockwave can be resurrected to see this.

>Thunderwing, Sixshot and Monstructor really.
The 1st two haven't been seen on panel in 8+ years. Monstructor disappeared during Dark Cybertron and that was 3 years ago!

>How do you boys feel about the rumour that Costa is coming back to IDW?
That's not a rumour, that's someone misremembering something that somehow spiralled into people actually believing it.

Lockdown's mercenary crew.

The entire first half is boring destruction porn, the second half is just '84 Autobots beating up the Decepticons aided by the blandest humans ever.
It's just twelve issues of nothing.

I want to fuck holomatter bluestreak like nobody's business

yeah hot damn Bluestreak's holo matter is hot.

madre di dios yes

It makes me sad we never saw much of Swerve and Bluestreak's friendship.

Who's the goth gf?

Cyclonus.

yeah it's Cyclonus. The design that drew about equal parts ire and arousal from the fanbase when it was first shown

I stand by Cyclonus should have been a ronin/samurai type.

It's just that Shane McCarthy is just a shitty writer. He just ignores previous stuff like how he did with Drift in Empire of Stone. In MTMTE Drift voluntarily agreed to take the blame for the Overlord so it wouldn't change his visions of Rodimus, but in Empire of Stone Drift is depicted as wishy-washy and questioning his purpose in life.

>started out as a peaceful anti-government writer and best friends with impactor
>eschews violence up to this point
>impactor protects a little mech from bullying violently and megs gets imprisoned and beaten as an aside and almost killed by a corrupt officer because of his writing
>throws away his peaceful manifesto afterwards but it gets picked up by randoms and passed around
>accidentally starts decepticon movement and keeps writing with help from his mentor terminus, who vanishes mysteriously
>later gets sent to a mining colony for continuing to shit talk the government and has his brain raped by Trepan
>participates in miner's riot when Decimus tries to shut down the colony to automate it and gets babby's first kill
>goes on to lead a huge worker's rebellion
>eventually whether due to paranoia or brain meddling turns more and more fearful and violent from both continuing civil war and probably treacherous officers, believing all organics were a threat to cybertronian life and deciding to rule the planet/cons in his own way
>basically becomes the monster he set out to fight
>eventual forced decepticon/autobot teamup
>bluepilled by bumblebee into letting his hate and paranoia go
>takes on Bumblebee's badge after he is murdered
>loopholes his way out of execution by the autobots because he's starting to genuinely believe he can do things to fix cybertron's future and atone
>becomes captain picard of the USS autobot
>eventually realises that all life is valid, including organics and trie sto once again embrace pacifism and fight with his words
>has a crisis about whether pacifism is viable after he has to again set it aside to protect the crew
>gets promptly fridged
>thicc

You know the crew just uses them to have gross poorly-imagined digital sex with zero knowledge about how humans do it.

Most people just thought she looked like a shitty steampunk OC. Which I can kinda get behind. But I also found her hot, so I don't really mind it overall.

Ok...

>Not even one Wreckers button pin.
Whirl really holding a grudge for getting kicked out of the Wreckers huh?

The most awkward, fumbling ERP ever.

Oh, and he was an indentured pit fighter/gladiator after the riots and used it as a platform to spread his message.
Has a huge RAGING hate boner for Starscream.

Can't remember much else that's essential about ol Megs.

S/he did take the time to put an eyepatch on every single autobot logo, though.

used to be a liberal's absurd nightmare of what a communist revolutionary is

is now a liberal-friendly harmless anarchist

...

>Transformers vs Visionaries
> In the aftermath, Cybertron now hosts the alien city of New Prysmos, home to a band of Merklynn's "Visionaries"
How do you feel about IDW putting the Visionaries on Cybertron?

I still wish I cared about Visionaries.

all this shit would be better if i didn't have to waste time to get into all this shit.

Woah there. TWO cities? On CYBERTRON?

Why didn't anyone think of that before!?

Trypticon ought to become a city.

I'm mad as all fuck. The 'shared' Hasbro universe has gone from something that can mostly be ignored to "Fuck you, buy Visionaries". And fucking Unicron is consigned to being the next crossover event.

question.

is Roberts and Lost Light going to be roped into this one?

I hope so since it'll probably make him cry and whine.

of course he'll just half-ass that like he did with Titan Returns.

Sentinel just falls into a whole...and is "totally dead".....riiiiiight.

*hole.

fuck

>Inb4 Rung is the key to destroying Unicron

Not again, please god. The functionist was so very deeply unsatisfying on all levels, but especially that one.

Besides, you know it's Anode

Decent idea, shouldn't have been the main fucking focus of the last issue of First Strike.
Still gonna buy at least the first issue of TF vs Visionaries because it's a different writer.
Trypticon literally is in city mode and home to a bunch of newborns right now.

Honestly i'd be fine with that.

I hated the Functionist arc because it was still not clear what the fuck is his deal?

Is it gay to want to fuck a holoavatar

Some kind of drill that also makes rare components for cold forging? I dunno.

no i saw blade runner too

After Bladerunner, abso-fucking-lutely not

I really want to like Windscream, cuz I love me some hate-fuck buddies, but if it becomes canon I know that they would have to fuck around with Starscream's character in ways I'm not fond of for it to even work.

Also, where did the whole "cojunx/amica" thing came from? Why not just use normal words like "husbando/bff"?

What voices do you hear for characters when you read the comics?

The G1 toon voices, mostly. For other characters like Whirl or swerve I settle into whatever fits, Whirl for example is somewhere between Bender and Clamps from Futurama to me, confident and brash while being unhinged and unpredictable.

Megatron: Keith David
Optimus: Peter Cullen

For everybody else it seems to just change, but those two are set in stone for me.

We posting /toy/ memers now?

...

...

Hasbro should go full zealot and make a continuity were every Transformer has religious symbolism such as the main Autobot forces being modelled after Jesus, archangels, saints, and the ilk, Decpeticons after various demons, and the last fight has all life on Earth exterminated and all Transformers return to Primus, but then subvert the feeling as the humans don't have Sparks so they become non-existent.

>Costa
Fuck no, I'm out.

Honestly it needed to be streamlined though. It was a fucking mess before that.

DJD, I give zero fucks if other people want them back or not, cause I do

>windblade cosplay
>clearly a white person
inb4 "muh yellowfacing"

Unicron herald DJD fucking when?

>tryhard edgmasters find someone even more evil to fanboy over
It would fit pretty well actually, especially if they got a Unicron makeover of matching purple armor bits.

vt.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_neazmr8toL1r2qsro.mp4#_=_

Windblade has a white face

fuck yes please this would be amazing

That's stupid-cute.

>Tarn even more purple.
>Maybe even with purple eyes if they go the Prime "dark energon" route.
Oh user I'm swooning.

>Tarn so purple he glows in the dark
>every room he stands in gets a purple glow, throwing purple shades on every other character around him
>gun shoots purple explosions

Starscream has no right to be this cute.

Is it bad I have an irrational hatred for the "pacifist so stupid he never realizes self defense isn't the same fucking thing as actively seeking violence, and somehow it's a big moral quandry to be forced to defend your home" trope? You can advocate pacifism, peace and peaceful solutions and still, you know, thwack someone over the head if he breaks into your home with a gun.

That was an obvious set up for later when other writers would want to use him. "He fell in a big hole and we never saw the body" is literally the oldest fucking writing trope ever for bringing a character back.

I too hate this trope but mostly because I know people irl who fit this trope and its just sad to see in person.

>Mists_of_Pandaria.exe

It just feels so forced when that sort of shit occurs. Especially in a universe where you can literally have stun weaponry or shit that just completely, nonlethally, disables all weapons and locks people into alt modes and shit.

Shit, give Megs one of those like, 10,000 foam guns or disabling beams all those G1 Transformers seemed to have all the time that never saw use anywhere but their G1 bio's.

Now I'm just going to be sad when this doesn't happen. I want absurdly purple Tarn dammit.

>How do you feel about IDW putting the Visionaries on Cybertron?

I'd never even HEARD of Visionaries before this.

I really hate that the Transformers have to share their world with these other Hasbro properties. It feels like it downplays their significance in the grand scheme of things.

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TechnicalPacifist

>It feels like it downplays their significance in the grand scheme of things.

Ehh, given in the comics they've almost blown up the entirety of reality like, 40 times in the past 10-ish years after a 4 million year long war that killed untold quintillions of random ass fleshbag species, I'd say they're probably not downplayed. Oh, and that being the entire universe revolved around them before adding in this other stuff, their Robot Jesus and Robot Religion is likely the One True Religion of the universe, nevermind what any of these other trillions of species might say.

I'm more annoyed it means there's a bunch more branches I have to follow connected to the Transformers history. I still don't know what this Talisman bullshit is about.

Are you that same user who said Megatron and Tarn were both Keith David because Tarn would have the same VA as Megatron.
