FUCK TENNANT!

Doctor Who went to shit when Eccleston went.

I still cant believe its a woman now

Truly the only person who made the show watchable.

Doctor Who has been shit since the inception and your budget Ralph Fiennes was just as shit as every other version
fuck all of you fags

Legit still my favourite doctor of the new whos. Tennant was good, Matt Smith and Capaldi were both garbage that appealed to the tumblr audience.

Eccleston recently revealed he left because he couldn't stand the faggot mafia in charge of the show.

btw i'm happy /who/ is now a thing of the past and hope to see the quality of Doctor Who threads rise over the coming months.

the tumblr audience cried about capaldi because he was an old man and not a young twink they could fap over.

he was absolutely wasted, the best actor given the least to work with.

I didn't get into (new) WHO until wayyyyyyy later. Eccleston immediately captured my attention. Tennant was Tennant but there was a serious business side to him. Then Matt came and although there are good episodes from him. Overall I started to question what I was watching. Watched less than half of Capaldi season and then dropped the show.

I only watched the Matt Smith ones :^)

Well why not?

Eccleston had a reasonably well written character. Tennant's character was not well written (he came off as Schizophrenic to some), but he made the material golden due to his charisma. Smith started off as extremely derivative of Tennant, but later really came into his own. Capaldi could have been great, but he was hampered by the militant SJWism that the Moffat Era became famous for. The new female Doctor will be a continuation of that.

I stopped watching during the Capaldi Era. Nothing against Capaldi, I just hated his writers. That being said, I don't think there was ever a bad Doctor, just bad writing.

>capaldi
>tumblr crowd

>Who
>Moffat
>Anything but tumblr
.....wew

Yeah that was the irony in that the Capaldi Era ended up alienating everyone. The SJW writing alienated center-right people. Having an old, white, male as the lead alienated the Tumblr crowd. You couldn't possibly mess up more than they did there. It was such a waste of Capaldi's talents.

The WritingTM

Pretty much this.

Oh dear

Moffat pulled the same shit with Sherlock and pandered to Tumblr then he literally wrote a fucking fan fic episode it was the one where sherlock jumps in through a window with multiple theories and gay shit

Yeah the forced diversity just kills the show.

Can anyone make an actual argument against the Capaldi era that isn't "The Writing" or "Clara" or "SJWs!!"?
Worse is when they say they stopped watching halfway through Series 8 and are just basing their opinions of S9-S10 on memes.

Tumblr only liked Moffat the first two years. They've been hating on him since the Ponds left.

Series 8 is Capaldi's best series though. It's quite like Eccleston's in style. It's all went to shit from the Ashildr episodes on.

The solder-bashing made no sense. The Doctor fought in a war and some of his best friends were soldiers. It was also extremely ill-advised. It likely contributed to the crash in the American demographic (as we all know how Americans feel about that), which had grown considerably during the Smith Era.

As much as I liked Missy, they could have easily just made her The Rani. But they wanted to set it up as preview for the female Doctor in a desperate attempt to get the Tumblr crowd back.

Tenannt's Doctor was a huge crybaby and RTD wrote the show like a gay soap opera. I cringe whenever fangirls cry eight (8) years later how that era of the show ended.

>Can anyone make an actual argument against the Capaldi era that isn't "The Writing"

but the writing was awful, I love capaldi, he's a great actor, I went into it with high hopes, he is great at playing the doctor. but he doesn't have that many great episodes overall, but that's nto his fault.

you see something like heaven sent, the whole episode is just him, being a good actor, and it's a top ten new who episode, but most of his run wasn't that good.

people crying about doctor who being progressive and sjw are just memers or legit retards, the same kids that say the same about that new star trek series, as if that didn't push race/sex episodes decades ago. most episode of the week sci-fi series do.

Why did he try to kill Cillian Murphy?

I also get a good kick out of:
>2007
>"RTD has a gay agenda, trying to make kids gay"

>2017
>"Moffat has a gay agenda, trying to make kids gay. RTD never did that"

>people crying about doctor who being progressive and sjw are just memers or legit retards
The new showrunner has admitted that he was only ever going to cast a woman.

I think a female doctor could work and the actress is talented but I don't trust the writing.
NuWho for the most part has been great doctors with average scripts and I don't think that's going to change.

I think one of the problems is that a time traveling traveler works really well in a episodic format, but viewers want a long running narrative with Ebin season finales and that format doesn't suit doctor who's premise.
So you get this awkward middle ground that's not fun enough for the episodic fans but isn't serious enough for the long arc fans

Amy is hot.

Even Eccleston's era was a women-pandering soap opera version of Doctor Who like all of NuWho is.

/who/ is dead?

The mods killed /who/ because Judy kept spamming and kept working around his bans

Stephen Hawking.

Eccleston is massively overrated, he was a great Doctor but out of the 12 episodes he did, half were shit, 3 were alright and only 3 were kino. He's also a pussy who burst into tears and left because RTD backed him into a corner and made him do sums.

Tennant and Smith might be overrated as well but their good/shit episode ratio was much more on the side of good in terms of numbers when compared to Eccleston.

Doctor Who went to shit not when Eccleston left, but after Moffat's first series as showrunner. S5 was kino but after that Moffat phoned it in and it hasn't recovered or come close to what it was since then. Let's hope Chibnall can fix that.

>a woman with a box that is bigger on the inside
>a woman that carries a sonic tool in her fanny-pack
(you) do the math, that's why NOT

You mean beacuse the no-lives wouldn't shut the fuck up about the minutae of trip drama no one else cared about.

Much better to have threads like these with actual discussion rather than that long suffering general that should've died a long long time ago

Tennant ruined the show and the fandom forever. Tennant attracted the tumblr crowd and is ultimately the reason dr who became an sjw soap opera and now has a woman as dr who.

I think Moffat let the increased American interest in the show go to his head in S6.

This. When Moffat started out the show got a lot of international attention and I think that made him feel like some sort of God who can do whatever he fancies while still getting praise, so he slacked.
People call RTD out on his obsession with Rose but that's nothing to what Moffat has with his characters. River being Amy and Rory's daughter was an inexcusably bad decision, and then Clara being the most important girl in the universe was almost as bad. We need a level-headed person in charge

You know how bad things have gotten when it took me a few moments the realise you weren't talking about Eccleston.

I think it's because to a lot of people thinking that, they now realise that all RTD's "agenda" was making sure there was a gay character(s) who didn't hide they were attracted to other members of the same sex, That was the extent of the "gay agenda" and people are coming to terms that they overreacted about it back then.
Whereas with Moffat (and other people in other shows) people are seeing that the gay characters are being used to halt the story pacing with "Isn't this gay couple perfect for each other? Take that Trump and fourth wall!" moments repeatedly with the show(s).

I think you make a good point. With RTD you had gay characters that were just there and it was fine to be gay, they never made a big deal about it. It was kinda refreshing because back then it was still a bit rare to see that.

With Moffat there's still gay characters, but their sexuality is their entire character, or somehow vital to the plot. If I were gay I'd probably take offence that similar people got portrayed that way. He does it with female characters as well, thinking that giving a woman a gun and having her disparage men and calling them useless every other line makes for a strong female character.

Doctor Who 1963-66 was pure kino though.

>Doctor Who went to shit when Eccleston appeared.
ftfy

such is the fate of all generals

>can anyone make an argument against the Capaldi era that aren't [these genuine arguments]
Except SJWs, they're more of a shit-cherry on top of the shit-cake.

Everyone loves to say how the Capaldi era had this great character focus and characterkino or whatever but then you go to watch the episodes and it's all bad dialogue and terrible pacing with some good moments sprinkled out. You can talk about the intent, the idea of doing this and how thematically it's great, but it'll still be a badly paced episode with shite moments and bad dialogue. It's the BvS case where there's genuinely fucking fantastic shit buried underneath trash.

What I'm trying to say is simply this: The Capaldi era of Doctor Who had the best actor in the role of the doctor, the best actress in the role of the companion and the best actor in the role of the master PERIOD. And it's barely memorable and it felt like it happened in a week. It was full of weak attempts and a complete lack of vision. Damn shame.

I'll admit that the finale of S10 is pure kino with shit moments tho, it's like the reverse of most of the Capaldi era.

I watched every single episode the day it aired. I stopped after the first ep of the 11th doctor because i couldn't stand matt smith. should i try watching again?

I stopped watching Who shortly after the 50th when there was a literal tumblr doctor who fangirl as a character

If Matt Smith's first episode (The Eleventh Hour) didn't grab you then I don't think there's any point in you watching the rest. That episode is widely regarded as one of the best NuWho episodes and arguably the best ever episode that introduces a new Doctor.

>and arguably the best ever episode that introduces a new Doctor.

Literally the only good nuDoctor. Thank you for playing ...

Haven't seen Moffat's Sherlock but Sherlock Holmes was originally bisexual in the novels so..

When you say originally do you mean "originally planned"? I haven't read all the novels but what I got from the ones I did read was that Holmes was asexual if anything
