Most overrated movie maybe.
Yes
t. Big Lebowski reddit fan
That would be Raising Arizona my nigga.
Does anything happen in this movie? Is there anything at stake? Or is it a slice of life type movie?
Can someone explain to me how it supposedly amazing? All I saw was a man wandering around aimlessly for the whole thing.
I do not understand what people see in that movie.
It's hard to define. While no, not that much happens, it's not "slice of life" either. It's a journey, sort of.
I'd say it's between This, No Country and perhaps Barton Fink.
other essential catkino?
Not Fargo or Miller's Crossing?
I didn't get it
Did Llewyn deserve the shit he got? Is he a bad person? Why is he so egotistical and entitled? Why is he so elitist?
How do I change the fact that I act like him but without talent
Alien
It's a musical
A struggling musical artist scraps for housing, opportunity, and inspiration while trying to meet a legendary producer whom he believes will be the ticket to securing him fame and success. Along the way he deals with some shit and gets caught up in shenanigans. Bob Dylan kills him in the end.
It's pretty good.
>Bob Dylan kills him in the end.
I actually laughed at this
No. Its their most dishonest movie.
It's not Fargo. It's good, but still, it's not quite up there.
This is the quintessential movie women will never understand
I had my ex gf watch it
>It's so boring
>Nothing happens
>I can't relate to him
The music scenes are so fucking good
I didn't get it
That's the thing though, I've showed it to friends who I thought would appreciate it but they didn't get it at all. They liked the music side but otherwise didn't understand why Llewyn acted like a dick all the time.
They were nice people though. They didn't understand the thing about the cat, or how he didn't go to see his kid. I genuinely think you need to have that unpleasant streak to really understand it.

I hate women

When the fuck are we getting a spin-off with John Goodman's character?
it's a cautionary tale.
Even if you don't want to sell out, sometimes you just have to
Never, because John Goodman's character was Llewyn in his old age if he doesn't kill himself. An egotistical asshole with nothing left in his life clinging on to a genre that has already passed by.
It's unironically a loose adaption of The Odyssey.
Is this film star wars for adults?
That's O Brother Where Art Thou. Which is another good choice for best Coen film (and best Coen music).
OUTEr
I didnt get it either
No, why?
Why do you fags love this movie so much?
SPACE
I heard somewhere that this movie was the reason why folk music made a comeback
OUTER
The soundtrack was more popular than the film itself.
every coen movie is a masterpiece
It's an incredibly realistic character study of a guy and why he's an asshole.
Funny, I recently rewatched it for like the 10th time and was thinking about making a post about how it really is the apotheosis of everything the Coens have tried to do with their work. It really is a perfect movie. Wonderful music too, Oscar Isaac does justice to the Van Ronk songs without just sounding like a cheap imitation. desu I think his version of Dink's song might be the best recorded version there is, though many would probably disagree.
This is the greatest Coen masterpiece
1. A Serious Man
2. Barton Fink
3. No Country for Old Men
4. Inside Llewyn Davis
I found ILD did what A Serious Man did in a much more relatable way.
A Serious Man is just an underdeveloped version of Inside Llewyn Davis. It has some interesting specific stuff going on but for the most part ILD "shows" the things that A Serious Man "tells".
Yeah, pretty much. I can understand liking a serious man but I can't see what it offers that ILD doesn't do better.
The Funnies in ASM are better.
honestly nah. ILD is incredibly funny, I feel like people miss that. Even the devastating moments have a humor to them.
ILD has some great funnies, yeah, but ASM is still funnier. That asian dude and his dad were hilarious.
I actually found that got in the way of what it was trying to do.
Did he kill himself at the end?
UH OH
It's a shame him and Oscar Isaac have had their careers ruined by star wars
O brother or no country are. Ld was a mid tier movie.
You're wrong.
Naw
1. find some overlooked movie
2. IS DIZ DA BEST MOBIE EVER
3. >no
4. LMAO GTFO REDDIT PLEBB
ILD is a great movie by hollywood standards but only decent by coen standards, Barton Fink is their best
Has Barton ever been adapted to a stage play? Would be perfect for highschool.
Barton Fink? Fuck that shit! MILLER'S CROSSING!
He isn't an asshole though. He is justified in his reactions
Eh I wouldn't go as far as to say that. I think the main ambiguity in the film is whether bad things keep happening to him because he's an asshole, or if he's an asshole because bad things keep happening to him. Which is of course pretty unknowable.
He's absolutely an asshole. He makes the selfish decision every time.
That cat looks so uncomfortable
I found it pretty comfy and melancholic in a good way. I just really liked following the main character's life for the time of the movie.
But his life was miserable and depressing.
It may be their worst film.
Hence melancholic.
Wrong, stupid fucking cunt
What do you think is their best then?
No country is formally immaculate, O Brother, Fargo a
*and the rest are just pleasurable, but ILD is downright poor. Banal, tired, with its imagery given an awful diffusive smear of Vaseline
No. Their masterpiece is Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing or No Country.
Imagine being THIS much of a pleb. Literally choosing the most well known and popular films by them to try to appear superior.
It's great, but their best? It's not even in the top five.
Dumb contrarian faggot. When you’re older you might realize that their most popular work is their most popular because it’s their best. That’s why ILD is treated like forgettable drivel—because it is.
I'd rather be a "contrarian" than have the studios decide which film I should like.
No Country is overrated.
Then you might be happy to know that ILD is pretty well-loved in certain plebeian circles. It was also hailed by the same folks who hail No Country. You’re just fucking dull.
