I doubt netflix will fill the budget Sabin demands for his animated works. Dude hates any outside influencing his show and all his projects take a lot of money to make. He even used his inheritance his family made from building the Eiffel tower to make Oban and he still had to campaign for more funding. Oban was in production for almost 10 years before it was released.

What's the point of having a racing cartoon if you don't solve everything with racing.

To be fair it made more sense than the villain forcing them into a race with him just to fit the theme.
I'm more mad that it wasn't just racing all the way through. Alwas was comfy as fuck, Oban kinda lost a bit of that because it changed tone.
But it worked out regardless
