In a world of mechs and power-armor, why don't all heroes have mechs and power-armor?
Why doesn't Iron Man build Captain America his own suit so he's twice as powerful?

Because it'd be boring if everyone was about the same.
They could be different colors
He did once when Cap's Super-Soldier formula broke down and he was almost too weak to stand on his own. Normally Cap doesn't want a suit, he's happy as is.
Cheapens the story
Not the point. flying armor suits would just make everyone "The Iron-Man Dancers".
Each superhero brings a unique dynamic to the universe, and while extra mobility, built in communication and strength would certainly be useful, it kind of nullifies the specialties of the "normal" Superheroes when it comes in the form of a powered exoskeleton. It would mess Captain America's fighting style for example.
some heroes don't have the resources to make or buy power armor. for some heroes, power armor would be redundant or even detrimental to their unique abilities.
at least, those are two reasons that spring to my head.
I imagine using a power armor is like any other piece of equipment in that it requires expertise to use.
>to be fair, you need to have a high IQ to use an iron man suit
I'm more pissed about the fact that Tony keeps his man-sized suit as his default.
Tony needs to man the fuck up and make Mech-size his default.
there are quite a few advantages to keeping his suits human-sized. they're probably easier to use for him, and they're definitely more energy-efficient than something the size of a building.
What would be the point of giving Spider Man a mech suit? Or Wolverine?
Just go read Earth X
There literally isn't a good reason outside of 'muh plot'
but if you are reading comics to begin with you are used to that
You're basically as retarded as a katana fag for typing this. Are you even reading what you're saying?
Who cares about shit like that? Armored suits are great.
Those things are massively unreliable. Half the time when you read any Iron Man comic someone's hacking his suit, or it's coming to life, or it's running out of power or some other damn thing is wrong with it. I wouldn't get in one and head off to some big super fight, that's for damn sure. That's practically begging for some supervillian to crush you like a beer can.
Tony must be some sort of hack if his own damn suits don't get the job done if others are using it. That or he's stupidly paranoid.
nice rebuttal.
...
>What would be the point of giving Spider Man a mech suit?
Fucking idiot doesn't even know about Iron Spider
Wolverine has had a supersuit before but he hampers him. He is best as a stealth character and a suit fucks that up
Avengers that would be made worse with an Iron Man suit
>Thor
>Black Panther
>Black Widow
>Hulk
>Ant-Man/Giant-Man
>Vision
>Scarlett Witch (Couldn't cast her spells as well)
>Wonderman
>Beast
>Quicksilver
Ones it would help
>Hawkeye
>Cap
>Wasp
Iron Man suits would be terrible for most Avengers
Suit takes knowledge and training to wield properly , plus it'd be expensive as fuck to give everyone a suit.
Tony made a suit for pepper potts to use, and it was built to basically fly itself, and even that still had to be stripped down for her to even use vs what his suit can do.
doesn't iron man's suit regularly get disabled through loss of power, hacking, magnets, or whatever's convenient to the plot? im sure this is why not every hero relies on one: they can't DIY their way out of shit with chunks of arm and leg because they're not tony stark
tony is this you ?
>The Iron-Man Dancers
I would watch that show.
I laughed.
>Tony Stark makes you feel
He’s a cool exec with a heart of steel
As Iron Man, all jets ablaze
He’s fighting and smiting with repulsor rays!
Amazing armor! That’s Iron Man!
A blazing power! That’s Iron Man!
>PowerUpWarMachine6.jpg
Isn't this what he had in the 90's?
1. I can honestly see Palpatine making something that retarded
2. Tony reserves the big guns for Hulkbusting
...
thing is IIRC Wasp and Antman already use power suits, just not high tier robo armor like tony
Oh shit I have that issue in my old busted up pile of comics. Like, the only ironman I got a physical copy of.
The fucking techno ninjas in that are HILARIOUS
Why would anyone wear Stark's shit when Doom already mastered advanced suits?
I've always liked this design. IM2 comes second, CW is gross
yeah except for the muscle shirt armor (lmao c'mon tony) I like how utilitarian it is.
>CW
I don't think it's bad, but definitely looked better in the concept art
Needs more guns
I always found it kinda funny when you see him suit up with the muscle shirt suits. He just slips them on, along with the rest of his armor.
>Black Panther
The fuck sort of power boosts have they been giving him?
I’m not drunk you’re drunk shut up
Black Panther is already wearing a power suit, ontop of having captain america tier physicality. He's Wakandan so his tech is automatically better than Tony can produce
How new are you? Guy is a metahuman with access to tech decades ahead of Stark's, wearing a suit made of vibranium. I guess he just doesn't want to fly around like a jackass
They definitely have more advanced tech than Tony. But it's not as bulky and mechanical. Pym can shrink and grow and talk to insects. That beats the shit out of flying and lasers. Wasp should have had a big upgrade a long time ago though
>Needs more guns
Already has a lot of weapons, as is
>shoots own fingers off
shit, the Iron Man suit is a HUGE step down from the Black Panther suit. Only Bleeding Edge can give it a run for it's money and still Black Panther has a better suit
T'Challa even built his own Hulkbuster
kek
Tony got tired for the dropping the tank story
He is also a stealth/martial arts/agility character. Something a suit would suck at.
The problem with giving everyone Tony's suit is that it'll break down as soon as it takes heavy damage. And everyone doesn't have the skills to mcguyver it when that happens.
>Cap
No, dumb-dumb. Cap has far too much need for sheer agility and natural fluidity. That's basically 99.999% of all inner monologues that people have when fighting Cap: they think about how they heard stories about him, didn't believe the hype, and then he's completely demolishing them with the most perfectly graceful well thought out movements ever.
>Implying The Iron Spider was an improvement
>Tony got tired for the dropping the tank story
Cap has taken on a suit a couple times and it boosted his ability. I agree that Cap is all about his ability to use his body perfectly, he is perfectly coordinated, but put him in an Iron Man suit and if he isn't doing a stealth mission he would be better cause he could do even more with his shield by changing magnetic fields and stuff.
They did that in the 90s.
Because they also live in a world where dudes have the power of magnetism
they break too easily, need constant maintenance, and getting replacement parts are a bitch if tony is dead or out of town. also you get hacked, like, all the time.
What?
>black widow
If she had just the boots and chest piece, she could be faster and stronger
because he's captain america, not iron man
unless you want the movie being called The Avengers: Ironmen
if that happened it wouldn’t be superheroes anymore, it’d be a justice mecha anime
stark is not infinitely rich
Haven you seen Iron Man's track record? Tech in the Marvel universe only exists to job.
wow.. that would really spice things up
I would totally watch an Iron Man Power Rangers show
Sounds like you should watch Tiger and Bunny. Seems up your alley.
Basicaally an Xemn mutant situation, where the mutants see the writing on the wall about the coming race war and intentionally head it off by actively portraying people with powers as hero-celebrities as the face of the 'scary' mutants. To the point of having ongoing reality television of heroes stopping disasters and catching bad guys on camera, each season resulting in one hero being the 'city champion'.
There are a couple of problems with this. The first is that not every mutant power that makes for good hero-fights is good for your lifespan in said fights. One guy, for example, can create and control fire. You know what power he DOESN'T have? Immunity to fire. So he needs a flame retardant suit at the minimum. You know what else he, and almost every hero, doesn't have? Immunity to knives and bullets. So he needs armor as well.
So every superhero has what is essentially power armor built to play off of and combo with their specific skillsets and abilities. Like, one guy can control air pressure and use it to float, but not exactly fly. Give him a jetpack that could never realistically lift a normal person for very long, and as long as he uses them in the right order he can fly around as he pleases because its pretty easy to fly when you are starting off floating already.
But as you can imagine, building and maintaining these super suits is expensive. Also, super hero fights can result is some $$$ collateral damage, especially if you have a flashy power.
What this turns into is every hero having multiple corporate sponsors who pay for all their shit. In return, the hero does ad campaigns for them, and wears their logo on their super suit. Thats right, every hero in Tiger and Bunny is Captain Amazing from Mystery Men.
Its a fun show.
Yeshua on high, did you drink goose water as a kid? Human sized mobile suits are more versatile and energy-efficient
Different powers mean different styles, some of which could actually be hampered by too many toys being available
You can be as versatile as you want when the mission calls for a five ton gun and a ten ton reactor to power it.
At that point I’d probably go with a vehicle, but that’s beyond the scope of the discussion.
Human sized makes sense given how often he fights in cities not built for giant robots or aircraft. Also, this way he can ride in mecha while in power armor.
Fug, came here to post this
Not armored Captain America beats Armored Captain America, you can check it on Secret Empire, is canon.
It's been done
It didn't go well
Also hawkguy don't need no armor
I hate armor that just look like normal spandex
Storm was an avenger?
...
Also, Ultron would just hack 'em
oops forgot pic
...
>couldn't cast her spells as well
How? Or can't be that restrictive that age can't bend her fingers or saying some bull
>Storm was an avenger?
Everybody’s been a fucking Avenger. It’s not as major of an accomplishment Marvel writers make it out to be.
I wanna say that this is the Marvel Adventures Avengers cast?
That fits
Because people using Stark's tech is one of his 5 Nightmares. No, seriously, these are his Nightmares:
>#1: Alcoholic Relapse
>#2: Cheap Iron Man Technology
>#3: Outsourced Iron Man Technology
>#4: Disposable Iron Man Technology
>#5: Obsolete Iron Man Technology
So, to recap, Stark doesn't want to live in a world where his tech is cheap, easily produced and available, and isn't made by him and him only. No matter the positive influence they can have on the world, Stark wants his tech to be expensive, complex and used by him, and only as he sees fit.
Why is he considered a "hero" again?
Power armor requires training and experience to use properly. They also cost a lot to maintain and a lot of heroes don't like trusting tech they didn't make themselves. Considering Stark's record of spying on friends, I don't blame them.
because he regularly saves the world, even if he might have bad qualities. i would do the same tho in the position of a rich billionaire inventor and super hero, why should troglodyte who cant into advanced physics and engineering be able to pilot my marvel of engineering that can also make them invulnerable and dangerous.
It goes beyong him wanting to give the Iron Man tech away. What he's talking about is wanting to create the bestest tech ever, and not share it,except from scraps. That's a downright super-villain move.
*not wanting
eh, not really evil, just very ambitious. i agree that he's a dick but i'm saying that any sane man in his position would the same. also he doesnt exactly want to create the bestest tech ( i think that's pym or richards ), stark wants to take normal shit like weapons, upgrade them and sell them for profit or control the world with them.
the whole futurist bullshit is a mistake on the part of the writers who don't really understand the character, most notably benis. even so, at his core tony wants to shape the future in his image, he sees how it can be better and he ignores some mistakes because he's a dick. also he doesnt necesarilly want to improve the world really, he has a fixation on weapons, exoskeletons, cleaner energy for his weapons and machinery of war.
a good example of this would be his dyson swarn that also was a big ass space laser cannon
I'm not saying it's "evil", it's just not heroic. The herois supposed to be the guy who goes all out to serve others, not prop himself up and kinda do some good. The fact that Tony's still an ego-driven control-freak is why I like him, but Marvel cannot pretend that he's a pure hero like Spider-Man.Tony is a few steps before becoming Big Boss or the Illusive Man.
...
>muh
Goddamn you and everyone like you.
>That's a downright super-villain move.
Well yeah. Tony's tendency to usually do the right thing is the only thing stopping him from becoming a villain.
its why i like him, and while everything i said can apply to tony he has moments when he goes all out and risks sacrificing himself to save others, those are the moments when he's heroic. most of the time tho he's a cold calculating psychopath
