Not having Anguirus
might be rose-tinted glasses because the general period when it came out were some of the happiest months of my life but i honestly enjoyed seeing it. maybe most of it comes from having seen it with a bunch of friends real late at night but whateverr
Not enough Walter White
I remember seeing this in theaters and the projector was slightly dim and you couldn't see fucking shit for the last big fight
the 1998 version had a really bad rep, 2014 was a test run to see if this new studio could use the character respectfully so they went really safe and inoffensive
that kino music
might just be me, but terrible lighting, I feel like it was so dark during the night scenes I couldn't see shit
their next movie, Kong Skull Island, was literally the opposite
no wonder I prefer Skull Island then, I can actually see what the fuck is going on
>alexandre desplat
when did you realize that Godzilla was top 100 soundtracks of all time kino?
youtube.com
Nothing really. It's pretty damn good.
that is not kino
too bad he only appears for 8 minutes
>terrible lighting, I feel like it was so dark during the night scenes
1) Misleading advertising.
2) Not enough Cranberry.
3) Not enough Kaiju.
4) Too much family drama.
5) Poorly cast, besides Cranberry and Dr.Japman
Godzilla 2014 = DC
Pacific Rim 1 = Marvel
tell me with a straight face that Watanabe brought literally ANYTHING to this movie other than being a Pacific islander
The stupid focus on that generic soldier guy. I don't even remember his face, let alone his name.
he said gojira
Killing of Bryan Cranston for no reason
...
Why is it always raining out in American kaiju movies
>Godzilla 98
>Godzilla 2014
>Pacific Rim 1
>Cloverfield
It's ALWAYS fucking raining out.
It was just extremely boring, and any interesting character development went out the window with the death of Cranston. Watanabe just had one look the entire movie: >=O
The lack of monsters became obnoxious after a while, especially when the human characters weren't interesting enough to carry the dim plot.
I feel like the scale of that thing changed and it got half the size from the moment it crashes into the sea to the moment it comes out and picks apart the wrekage to get the nuke.
Also the second time it takes flight they cut the shot right before you would see it's wings smack a building or the ground and do jack shit. No way that thing could get airborne in a city.
Unpopular opinion.
They should've stuck with Varan and Manda instead of Ghidorah and Mothra in this movie. It was still great, but Mothra didn't feel fitting and Ghidorah being a good guy rubs me the wrong way
I cannot relate. The build-up got me pumped AF, the subtlety made it all the more effective. Godzilla wasn't just a monster, he was a force of nature. No other film ever did Godzilla himself better. I couldn't have cared less about the characters though, and the fight at the subway crash should've been shown, that one scene felt like a severe cop out
Because cgi is really good and making shiny wet things look realistic
look at the first time you saw the T-rex in jurassic park
Besides killing Cranston too early, nothing.
Godzilla was shown just the right amount of time. When you saw him it felt grand and special. If they showed him from the beginning by the end he would have just felt like another CGI effect *KOUGH SKULL ISLAND KOUGH*
and now because of you ADD autists Godzilla 2 is going to be a CGI heavy shit show
I agree. Though with 4 total biggies it will feel warranted I think
>Because cgi is really good and making shiny wet things look realistic
>fight Godzilla
>lose
>become his wing man
>be useless and get your ass kicked in every fight
>get forgotten about for like 30 years
>finally get brought back
>fight Godzilla
>lose
the virgin kaiju
