EGS

She's an asexual bisexual. Thanks tumblr

No, she has trauma that suppresses her sexuality, but I don't doubt that faggot will try to pass her off as asexual.

>A character in EGS isn't a heterosexual!

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE

>The girl who doesn't want to be touched doesn't want to have sex

As startling a revelation as Tedd being genderfluid.

>Diane is gay for Nanase
Ok, that's new.

Would've been better without the final row of panels.

That is undoubtedly Dan's biggest weakness. He can't let anything speak for itself, he feels compelled to explain and confirm.

Holy shit an EGS thread.

I'm not the only one whose never going to stop reading this, huh? Fucking hell why do I give a shit about these sexually frustrated and confused teenagers.

we know she really likes to watch, and has kinks, so she's not totally asexual

oh thats why theres never threads dan explains everything so theres nothing to discuss

It's kinda funny how a stereotype I first heard from pickup artists and the like is being promoted in this social justice minded webcomic. That all women are secretly bisexual.

Y'know, I don't think EGS is socjus in any way. Like, he's obviously a henpecked creator who tries to be fair but the gender stuff was always presented as an hentai-tier kink.

But yeah all women are a little bi, that's not even theory, science proved that years ago.

>why do I give a shit about these sexually frustrated and confused teenagers

Because they're sexually frustrated and confused teenagers? It's drama, comedy and fetish fuel all rolled into one.
Pity EGS is so mediocre. Still can't stop reading it though.

There's never threads because you're on Sup Forums and not /aco/

>Y'know, I don't think EGS is socjus in any way. Like, he's obviously a henpecked creator who tries to be fair but the gender stuff was always presented as an hentai-tier kink.

A lot of the things he's been writing for a decade are things that you don't notice fall into the social justice category because he's been writing them for so long. If he did a comic today about how wrong it is to use gay as a synonym for bad, people would be on him for bitching about microaggressions or something.

He's also been doing a lot of comics about how the things he wrote about in the past are "wrong". Even the commentary for the OP comic is him being an apologist for Diane in that if he ever planned on having her be anything other than antagonistic, she wouldn't have been calling Justin a defective male for not wanting to fuck her.

That page isn't socjus. That shit's been thoroughly discussed in BDSM circles for literal decades. Being a decent person isn't socjus either - Expecting that you can pressure people, up to hounding them, costing their jobs, or doing violence, for the sake of your ideology is socjus. Getting that people are assholes and just continuing with your life is what they have a problem with.
Diane's statement WAS 'antagonist', since she was insulting a protagonist. (The fact that Dan can't write his crew as having legitimate unpleasantness between them is a weakness of his writing, to be fair)

>That page isn't socjus. That shit's been thoroughly discussed in BDSM circles for literal decades.

That was an example of his old way of thinking being wrong. He doesn't do the "Ha ha, oops! You're a sexy girl now against your will!" stuff so much anymore, which is the way it always was.

>Being a decent person isn't socjus either - Expecting that you can pressure people, up to hounding them, costing their jobs, or doing violence, for the sake of your ideology is socjus. Getting that people are assholes and just continuing with your life is what they have a problem with.
Your definition of social justice is narrowed down to just what you consider the bad parts of it. To most people, even acknowledging gay, trans, genderfluid people is deep into SJW territory.

>Diane's statement WAS 'antagonist', since she was insulting a protagonist.

Yes, but Dan was saying that the way she insulted him made her a bad person and he wouldn't have written it if he ever intended she was going to join the main cast.

Insulting someone /is/ a 'negative'. How far that goes and how much it's weighted for you, or Dan, or me, is indiscernable, indescribable, and therefor not worth discussing.
See, this all is why I think socjus has any teeth at all - Pare down the insanity, and the base principles (Be respectful, be fair, etc) aren't evil or horrific. "Defective male" is a pretty solid insult, and can cut right to identity, which people feel pretty hard - They're weak and stupid for letting it affect them so much, sure, but it's a thing.

It's funny you go to a newspaper strip, where he's actually done this exact concept with Tedd - He stated at one point he'd friggen love if he could go on a zappy spree if there were no consequences, but he considers people being upset to be a consequence.
That's morally solid, and Dan pretty clearly views the comic as an extension of himself, and uses it to hash out internal disputes - That happens to any writer who produces something for over a decade though, to be fair. No one does ANYTHING for that long without wanting to improve, if their not a piece of shit like Jeph.

Hmm. I think that's why I like EGS so much. On one level, albeit a way overthinking level, it's got a lot of meditations on viewing people as whole and complex, and how to treat folks. It's why Elliot grew out of the bully-hunter themes, Tedd matured, Grace got more social, Sarah is slowly getting less awkward, and the conversation in mainline is even happening.

I get how you see the page you posted as socjus-like, and I don't disagree they use those terms for wildly insane purposes, but the issues stated are legit questions for these characters, and are used apropriately.

>Insulting someone /is/ a 'negative'. How far that goes and how much it's weighted for you, or Dan, or me, is indiscernable, indescribable, and therefor not worth discussing.

I'm basing it on his own post, I don't think it's indiscernable. She's supposed to feel like a shitty person for saying it.

>It's funny you go to a newspaper strip, where he's actually done this exact concept with Tedd

It's the most recent thing I remember. I forget a lot of details with EGS, due to the "13 month long birthday party" writing style.

>a piece of shit like Jeph
Say what you will about Shive not being able to write conflict between the main cast, at least there will be SOME sort of validation about the gender issues all these kids have from somewhere. Jeph just writes "Oh noes, trans have it super hard" and no one will ever dare say anything to prove that in any way.

>I get how you see the page you posted as socjus-like, and I don't disagree they use those terms for wildly insane purposes, but the issues stated are legit questions for these characters, and are used apropriately.

There's like a 100 post thread about why everyone is dropping KSBD because eventually someone is going to be gay. That's the standard baseline for what people consider SJW, forcing gays by having them exist. Imagine if they read this, where the straightest character in the cast is freaking Tedd.

Dan, you've already crashed Elliot/Susan, you don't have to set fire to the wreckage.

>>Tedd is the most het

Man you aren't giving me any meat to argue at or sperg out over here, these are reasonable statements delivered sensibly. Be more toxic!

I mean, I'm not forgetting anyone am I? Sarah's the runner up, and she's dating a transmale and still looks en route to be the meat in a Tedd/Grace sandwich.

Damn, this has never happened before. Uh, Rhoda = best girl. Shrink > Growth.

As soon as Tedd gets over his hangups I'm sure he'll be lusting for dick with the best of them.

He's had tons of opportunity to lust after Elliot - But he's more interested in warp than flesh.
Sarah DOES love her some man meat.

And no, Catalina best gril! Tsun>Dere. Honestly though, the whole crew is top shelf waifu. Cracking Susan's ice shell, encouraging Sarah's perversions, I dont even need to explain Tedd&Grace.

But Grace was the worst before Ashley showed up.

>Catalina best gril!
Never!

This hurts so much.

Oh fuck is that just never happening?

It smelt like endgame last time I was checking in with EGS.

An anime girl transformation fetishist showed up, caught Elliot shifting, and is agressively dating him. She's super moralistic, and basically the purest manic pixie dream girl I've ever seen. Also the closest to socjus the series has gotten, and a lot of the fanbase loathes her - Which Dan has picked up on. When she showed up most recently, there was a literal applause line.

He just sorta swerved away at the last second. He doubled down on Susan's shit as you can see from the OP and he hooked Elliot up with a cutesy TF fetishist Asian girl (who feels some sort of shitty Tedd/Grace amalgam).

Dan needs to realize that a bigger cast is not fucking necessary. He already had more people than he could conveniently give focus to. Ashley brings nothing to the table.

I wanna know more about Noah! Like, seriously, what the fuck is that kids deal. And what happens when he makes a pass at Elliot?

Hey, everybody! It's Ashley!

Tedd's dad made it very clear that everything was fine as long as only the main 8 kids know about all their secret magic nonsense.

This is the reason they added 8 more kids to the cast.

so yeah he's aware he over-did her. I kind of like the idea of someone libertine encouraging Elliot out of his shell - probably how the design came about. But christ is she a cringefest otherwise - "I dont like labels!" especially.

If you don't think that Justin/Susan is the best ship of all time I think you need to pack your bags and gtfo Sup Forums

Damian killed his parents so Raven raised him. That is basically his entire deal.

did anyone ever plot out how much time the birthday party's actual dialog and events would have taken? I'm suddenly intensely curious.

>I dont like labels!

I swear between shit like this and all the Simpsons references, it feels like Dan just stopped interacting with the world in 1998.

Shit. That's why its so comfy. He's trying to keep real time and webcomic time seperate.

and if he didn't EGS would be 40% shorter

Mnh, to be fair, re-reading it. She's actually slamming socjus mentality in her little shpiel.

Noooooo, don't tell me he did that!

I haven't read since 2014. What happened?

Elliot and Susan met Your New Favorite Girl Ashley when her ex-boyfriend was trying to pick up Susan and she came to warn them.

Then she found out Elliot was Cheerleadra and fell in love because she's a genderswap manga otaku and Susan decided to give him up because she still doesn't want to be touched.

>Susan's asexual

Wow did not see that coming

A sexual what? A sexual dynamo? A sexual predator? Finish the sentence!

And then she did the only interesting thing she's done the whole time - Pointedly did what she thought was torpedoing her chances at Elliot because passing the information along about said jerk was the right thing to do. The second half of their date at the mall is SUPER cute because of it. Damnit every time I pull a page up in this thing I just wind up rereading it

...

A female character you mean. Elliot's still straight. I don't think Tedd has ever actually shown any inclination for being gay either. At this point the only straight women are Melissa (who hasn't shown up in a long-ass time) and Sarah (who's about to go on a date with a transman that she doesn't know is a transman).

Pandora is best girl though Diane is a close second

>Elliot's still straight
Oh ho ho ho no.

Bonus shoutout for

>I don't think Tedd has ever actually shown any inclination for being gay either.

On the other hand, he's shown plenty of potential for being a lesbian.

>Sarah DOES love her some man meat.
I do like the idea that Sarah is probably the single biggest pervert out of the entire group. She was lusting after herself (well, Grace turned into her) at one point. She's been great since Dan broke her and Elliot up and she started having a personality beyond Elliot's Girlfriend.

Kind of annoyed that Dan brought in a new character who's supposed to be Liz's best friend yet still does nothing with Liz though.

Well in the recent NP comic he did have Ashley do a crazy person eye twitch at the thought of Elliot spending time with another girl and saying she was totally 100% fine with it. Now I know Goonmaji 2 isn't canon but I wouldn't be surprised if that aspect of her exists with canon Ashley. She needs some kind of negative trait and being Elliot's own Melissa (minus the fact that Melissa is actually a good character) works.

Honestly I'd just say she's a succubus or whatever the EGS equivalent abberation would be. Make her a full villain or at least Elliot turns her with the power of dickings.

>Melissa is actually a good character

I was fine with Melissa until the payoff for all her bullshit was her giving a little speech where she made Justin into the badguy.

She never made Justin into the bad guy. She realized they both fucked up, that Justin hated her guts and decided to leave him alone.

He is kind of the bad guy though. Melissa was a girl who'd just had her heart broken (at an age where your emotions kind of overpower you) and ran to the closest person she could confide in without really thinking. Justin then never made any attempt to talk with her and work things out to resolve the issue, instead letting her descend further into obsessive delusions while telling everyone he could that she was crazy and a shitty person.

The descent into delusion is completely her fault, though. No one else is responsible for your emotions.

Because she was being a crazy, shitty person. She betrayed his confidence and started stalking and harassing him. There's no way he could cool off and forgive her under those circumstances. She fucked up his life and started acting like a psycho.

He is not the bad guy in any way. Melissa's the one who made all the mistakes here. She's the one who fucked up and kept fucking up. She did this shit to him for two years. Then, when Justin's more or less been guilted into trying to patch things up with her she chooses this moment to hit him with a passive-aggressive barrage and fly away.

Melissa's fucking crazy.

Again, it puts the entire honus on her. She was a middle schooler (middle schoolers basically HAVE no logic) who was in love with her best friend and found out he was gay. What the fuck would you expect her to do, silently suffer? She was emotional and went to somebody to talk to about it and said person (because she wasn't thinking about who it was) then went and told everyone.

Justin can be pissed but eventually he should at least make some kind of effort to put the thing to bed. He never did though. He immediately said everything was her fault, declared that she was essentially dead to him and then ignored her. Any wonder why she went crazy?

>asexual bisexual
What did he mean by this?

Yeah, I still like EGS, but Dan drags scenes out far, far too long due to getting into the smallest details of what happens and what characters are thinking.

I'm not sure but the way I see it Susan has an aesthetic attraction to people, not a sexual one

Because it is on her. People are responsible for their actions and behavior. Justin has done nothing wrong here. You are not obliged to forgive people just because they ask for it. He had a perfect right to cut ties with her and she refused to accept it. For the next two years she followed him around proclaiming herself his girlfriend, calling him being gay a phase, and generally making a huge, obnoxious nuisance of herself.

Even if he somehow did owe her his forgiveness, how is he supposed to arrive at that point when she's constantly reminding him of what she did and making a joke of his feelings?

And really, considering her actions, I don't trust the sincerity of Melissa's apologies.

None of this is on Justin. Note that all it took for him to consider burying the hatchet was Melissa acting like less of a maniac and a third party suggesting he try to forgive her. He's obviously still hurt by what she did, but there's a clear willingness to try to move past it. All it really took was a little breathing room. Which she'd spent two years denying him.

Nah, she's perfectly capable of it - The M5 mode helped, but she went in for V5 Justin without hesitation. Well, assuming the 5ing isn't just for making one primed and ready, which we know is infact the origional purpose.

Looks like Elliot is rubbing off on Susan more than she might think

I'm kind of surprised there isn't more smut of Susan watching.

It's interesting - I'm rereading 2011 now, and they talk about this - She told her sister. One person. Who was a gossip, admitedly, but this is a mistake, not a malicious throw it everywhere act. The little details you forget.

> She told her sister. One person. Who was a gossip, admitedly, but this is a mistake, not a malicious throw it everywhere act. The little details you forget.

She didn't out him maliciously, but it's still her fault that it happened and for the most part she didn't show any remorse that his life got objectively worse.

Yeah, that's what annoys me. She was crushed and told someone she trusted while upset. She made a mistake but she's treated (both in and out of the comic) as someone who set out to ruin Justin's life. Of course I also don't really like Justin and think he's the single most dull character in the comic.

The real problem is that she got crazy afterwords and Justin dug in his heels so long. Noah had it right - its a silly middle schooler mistake.

You're acting like Melissa telling her sister was all there was to it. She spent the next couple years harassing the guy. Following him around, barging into his place of work, loudly claiming to be his girlfriend.

If a guy did that shit people would be howling for his head.

>We will never get to see Elliot help Susan though her trauma till 6 years later they're vlogging about how their first child is on the way

I should never have come here, it only ruined the EGS in my memories.

Oh please. She'll be locked in monastic chastity with a flourishing empire of pornography long before she actually gets Elliot's inevitable futa-dick.
