but david created them as the movies show, so it was probably just a representation of the engineers idea of evil or a warning of what could go wrong if the black goo is misused

do you believe even for a moment that the engineers didn't know the goo could be used to make a xenomorph? i'm sure they ran through every iteration of monster that shit could make if you dicked around with it and the xenomorph happened to be the worst-case scenario.

No, I believe that the movie was made by a hack who doesn't understand subtlety in the slightest and made a shitty movie so he relied on nostalgia to get fans of the original movie to defend this bad one.

there was a very interesting script leak that explained the black goo and the mural

essentially, at some point in time the engineers lost their ability to reproduce, they encountered the original egg and facehugger of an unknown entity. one of their own race sacrificed themselves to it and gave birth to a deacon type entity that you see on the mural. the original ALIEN if you will. they worshipped this creature as a god and called it their lord. the engineers learned that the blood of this creature had strong life giving creating abilities. the engineers began seeding planets with life (as seen in the original scene) in the hope that their own race would be recreated and they could live on. however as time passed they eventually ran out of blood from this deacon and had to try to synthesise it for themselves

therefore black goo = corrupted fake alien blood that perverts life rather than creates it

i guess david ''created'' the classic alien xeno in the sense that he bred a particular strain of creature from the bodyparts of humans and corrupted goo from the engineers
